OUT 2

The raw exuberance that Woven Bones seethes from its tightly-wound inner coil of turmoil isn’t exactly the stuff daydreams are made of, but as their menacing presence has been culminating over the past couple of years, it’s now clear as daylight that their finest efforts would come together on this, their debut LP. As they’ve effectively dragged the shards of their tattered souls with building ferocity on each of their previous singles and EPs, the evolutional process has honed itself to a fine edge, poised to level any contention and break into the blinding realness of now. They’ve finally harnessed the elusive throb and crash of their intended sonic perfection on their own terms, and this debut album will no doubt convert the middling masses into drooling slaves to their hypnotic heartbeat rhythm.

What was only hinted at before is now as pure, raw, and ugly as a newborn jackal, squirming out of the wretched womb and ready to face the world, all the while, sending an evil chill down the spine and reminding you that yes, new music really can be this good. Like the eardrum-shattering noise pop icons that came before them, Woven Bones blaze their own trail of lascivious loudness and controlled snarl that’s just what the world needs right now, and the perfect soundtrack to your screwed-up summer.

The debut album, "In And Out And Back Again" delivers nine heart-stabbing hits that just keep hitting back, so without further hesitation, we give you the debut album that explodes heads on contact, by your new favourite band, Woven Bones. They slayed SXSW2010, and the album will be the proof that once again, America has the hits!

Princeton

Shout It Out

Princeton's "Shout It Out" from their debut full length album "Cocoon of Love" has been remixed by Samuel Bing of Fol Chen, synched in a Ford commercial, and is being released as this 7 inch single to coincide with their first European tour.

STAFF COMMENTS

Laura says: There's still a hint of the afro rhythms here on "Shout It Out" despite it being much more low-key and mellow than their previous release. It's a well crafted pop song embellished with strings and nice little guitar flourishes.

Gindrinker

Work It Out / Ayn Rand Says

Never actually formed in the traditional sense, but together since 2005 Gindrinker are a Cardiff based band featuring Mr D.C. Gates on improvised cornet, bass and vocals and Mr G. McGraf on guitar, drum machine and sampler wrangling. It's fair to say that the individuals of the band have been doing what they were doing separately and would have continued to do so (playwriting and industrial noise respectively) had fate not played its hand. Sounding like an argument between a Bennet monologue and a loading spectrum and influenced by The Cramps, Suicide, The Fall and Datblygu, Gindrinker have been terrifying, delighting and repulsing audiences ever since. Some will just never understand the inherent drama of the collapse of the Weimar republic re-imagined as a Hovis commercial, but there's definitely something of the everyday along with some opulent wickedness at play here. Depending on who else is on the bill, Gindrinker are either a pop band or an avant-garde act, but definitely an occasion. Having already supported: Victorian English Gentlemens Club, Super Furry Animals, Whitehouse, Los Campesinos! Thomas Truax, Future of the Left and the Fall, we foresee many good things from this delineate duo. Businessman Records is proud to present some of the noisiest vinyl we've ever heard! Often billed as Cardiff's answer to The Fall, Gindrinker have never asked a question that demanded such a riposte.

"Give It Up" is the opening salvo from the forthcoming new Datarock album, "Red". It's typical Datarock - a brilliant slice of 80s-inspired disco-not-disco / punk-funk pop (complete with typically witty and surreal lyrics) that hooks you in on first listen. It's a short sharp shock that is reminiscent of the post-punk musicality of acts such as The Associates and achieves the fine balancing act of sounding both current and retro. Remixes on this 12" come from Kissy Sell Out (funky discoid electro), Fan Death (speedy indie-electrodisco collision) and Chateau Marmont (electrohouse). I copy found!

    Loop

    Fade Out

"Fade Out" was originally released on Chapter 22 Records in late 88, the Peel session was recorded at that time too: Loop were loosely influenced by bands such as The Velvet Underground, The Stooges, The MC5, but retaining an avant-garde and experimental edge from Can, Faust, Neu!, Rhys Chatham, Glenn Branca and minimalist systems music, to name but a few.

      Loyal Trooper

One Day All This Will Work Out

This six track EP is the debut release from Andy Walker aka Loyal Trooper. Here's what he has to say about it: 'From January to April this year I produced the EP in my bedroom, at my friends house and tracked the drums at a Baptist Church in Kettering. Kettering and Baptist Church's = rock 'n' roll. My friend Dave Clarke (Battle / Ladyfuzz / Juliette Lewis) did a brilliant job of mixing and mastering the EP in between doing about seven day jobs at that time. I loved singing, playing guitar and keyboards on the record but I wanted to add some variety to the EP's sound so asked some friends of mine to help out with some of the instrumentation. I cajoled my friends to be involved with a combination of being very persuasive and/or buying them copious amounts of alcohol. I am incredibly proud of this record. I've put everything that I have into it and think that for the first time in my life I have produced a piece of work that is instrumentally layered as I would like, flows like I want it to and is sonically and lyrically the best thing I've achieved thus far in my life.'

"Dig Out Your Soul" sees Dave Sardy return to the producer's chair following his work on Oasis' 2005 album, "Don't Believe The Truth". Recorded at Abbey Road and mixed in Los Angeles, all four members once again contribute tracks but the recording marks a new approach for the band as described by the band's principle songwriter, Noel Gallagher: 'I wanted to write music that had a groove; not songs that followed that traditional pattern of verse, chorus and middle eight. I wanted a sound that was more hypnotic; more driving. Songs that would draw you in, in a different way. Songs that you would maybe have to connect to - to feel.'

      7 Dollar Taxi

      Come And Figure It Out

Swiss indie-rock band 7 Dollar Taxi give out blasts of 60s beat music clashing with 80s post-punk, all freshly and colourfully wrapped up in a British manner and with a garage attitude that makes established bands look like greenhorns.

        Wet Paint

Hug It Out / Hug It Out (Matt Tong - Bloc Party Remix)

Wet Paint make music governed by a simple premise - whatever you do, make sure that it's LOUD! Their surging guitars, irreverent lyrics and deceptively simple melodies are all driven by the same slacker-passion that emanates from the likes of Pavement, Dinosaur Jr and Pixies. Melodrama, anger, thrill and unbridled emotion are all in store, with this tale of one-way romance that will sound familiar to most of us (excluding, of course, the under-16s and devout Christians). What you're sure to get is lots of delicious feedback and an energy in song-writing that will be familiar to those who've already listened to "Save The Whale" (released earlier this year on Trial & Error). On the B-side comes an amazing remix by friends and colleagues Bloc Party, for all bedroom ballerinas who wish to dance to "Hug it Out" in their underwear. Highly recommended!

          Andy Votel Presents Brazilika

Following on from previous "Brazilka" selectors by dance music pioneers Kenny Dope and 4hero, Far Out Recordings decided to peer further down the periscope and brought in Manchester based producer and psychedelic rock librarian Andy Votel for a high octane and nonstop Brazilian block party mix. Votel's twisted tale unearths a vast array of weird and wonderful musical stories. Expertly squeezed, segued and sequenced together, Votel's rapid fire journey ventures into both the fondly remembered Tropicalia period and a period less well known, characterised by obscure acid rock, freak folk and other mutations of Musica Popular Brasileira (MPB).

            Viva Voce

            Get Yr Blood Sucked Out

Two years on from their debut, this cool-as-you-like husband and wife duo from Portland are letting us into their groovy, spaced-out world for a second time. It's all about the vibe, so stoned riffs and campfire jams chug along with half-there melodies which recall a damaged Monkees or wonky Beach Boys. There's plenty of overdubs and soundscapes going on, whilst the bass-lines are surprisingly fat. This is sixties, acoustic-based, freed-up music, but with shades of the Flaming Lips or (zonked-out) Pixies and a whiff of folkiness, there's a timeliness that comes with being Tunng's lablemates. It's happening, man!

              Dustins Bar Mitzvah

Kick Him Out / Young Pretender

"Kick Him Out" finds Dustin's Bar Mitzvah launching a supersonic take on classic '77 punk. The single finds Acton's finest capturing the fiery intensity of their famed live show in this tale of unrequited love.

                Hope Of The States

                Sing It Out

Taken from the forthcoming album "Left".

                  Slumlords

                  On The Stremph

Punks, core-men, and rockers unite! Baltimore, Maryland's Slumlords have returned with their sophomore full length "On The Stremph". Following the success of their well received self-titled debut on Perfect Victim/I Scream and a slew of out of print 7" releases, "On The Stremph" delivers 16 raucous anthems of punk rock/hardcore, tackling some of today's most serious issues, while still maintaining a sense of humour and fun.

                    Camera Obscura

Let's Get Out Of This Country

"Let's Get Out Of This Country" is a master class in intelligent, melodic 'retro-modern pop'. Producer Jari Happalainen (The Concretes, Ed Harcourt) has shaped a cohesive collection of classic songs which are, at turns upbeat ("If Looks Could Kill"), downbeat ("Country Mile"), hooky ("I Need All The Friends I Can Get") and epic ("Razzle Dazzle Rose").

                    The Oxfam Glamour Models

                    Kick Out The Grams

A gloriously fuzzed-up, racket that takes a well aimed side swipe at celebrity lifestyles and their erm celebrity habits.... As they say on myspace: The Oxfam Glamour Models don't come from Sheffield, don't smoke crack, and don't wear silly hats. The Oxfam Glamour Models don't love New York, don't listen to Duran Duran and don't make disco music for Topshop's changing rooms.

                      Vinny Peculiar

Whatever Happened To Vinny Peculiar? - Selected Out Takes And Inserts 1989-2003

Subtitled "selected out-takes and inserts 1989 - 2003", "Whatever Happened to Vinny Peculiar?" is a superb collection of obscurities, alternate takes and lost gems which both hangs together brilliantly as an album in its' own right and - once again - begs the question: why is this guy not revered as one of England's finest singer / songwriters? Most of the cuts actually date from around the turn of the 21st Century and as usual Vinny's vivid, acerbic observations on life, love and failure are presented with rich, colourful and persuasive musical backdrops which usually suit the unlikely subject matters to perfection.

                        Out Hud

Let Us Never Speak Of It Again

Out Hud release the follow up to 2002's "STREET DAD", keeping up associations with !!! (for whom Tyler Pope, Nic Offer and Justin Vandervolgen also play) and LCD Soundsystem (for whom Tyler Pope also plays bass). "Let Us Never Speak Of It Again" was recorded in Washington DC, before the band returned to their New York house to have it mixed and deconstructed by band member Justin Vandervolgen. The album is an indefinable feast of filthy grooves, spectral sounds, tribal beats and haunting melodies that is unmistakably their own and yet immediately familiar, with tracks influenced by sources as various as Adrian Sherwood, Larry Levan, Judy Nylon, Dr Dre, dub, disco, The Neptunes, Timbaland, Lenky and Dancehall. It's been called 'Freak Sh*t' and it's been called 'Mutant Disco', inevitably it's going to be one of the defining records of 2005.

                          Karma Destination

                          Produced Out Of Cycle

An eclectic mix of diverse influences from U2 to Puressence, to the Dandy Warhols from this North West five piece.

                            Various Artists

                            Out Patients 3

"Out Patients 2" was my favourite compilation of 2001, and part three looks set to follow suit for 2003 - it's just so many brilliant tracks on it!! There's wicked nu-jazz and broken beats from Dharma One, London Elektricity (Landslide Mix), Brotherly and Phuturistix, latin-edged groovers remixed by Butti 49 and Swell Sessions and wicked 2-step from Darqwan and Chris 'Fish' Finguz & Siobhan Gallagher. Essential!!

                              The Rip-Off Artist

                              In Through The Out Door

Rip-Off Artist has created a playful world of found voices, peppy rhythms and smart-ass musical references. The music harkens back to his "The Kids Are Alright" album from 2000, with glitchy electro-fried beats and hummable pop aspects rarely found in modern electronica, which is what makes Tigerbeat6 a perfect home for it.

                                Strung Out

                                Live In A Dive

Featuring tracks from their first album on Fat Wreck Chords, ("Population Control") all the way up to selections from their latest full length ("Razor Sex"), Strung Out deliver their best live performance ever. There's even an Ozzy Osbourne cover version -NICE! The disc is also a CD-ROM, featuring live videos and an interview of the band conducted by Fat Mike.

                                  Paloalto

                                    Zaire Black & June 22

                                    Life, Work It Out

Brighton's cool Puma Strut label brings us this mellow hip hop tune (vocal and instrumental mixes) from this Californian based crew. Fresh rhymes, fresh beats and cuts by Westafa.

                                      Ryo Okumoto

                                      Coming Through

Ryo Okumoto is a keyboardist with a rather impressive resume. He has worked with the likes of Phil Collins and Eric Clapton. He is also the keyboardist for Spock's Beard and this work is an extension of his work with the band with added jazz and fusion elements.

                                          The Cox Family

                                          Everybody's Reaching Out

No other vocal group has the same innate sense of harmony as the Cox Family, they've been singing bluegrass and country music since childhood and there is an intuitive knowledge of where each member fits in. The music often has a rare beauty because of this shared understanding and this 1993 album is one of their finest albums to date.

                                            Fabulous Disaster

                                            Put Out Or Get Out

All girl band on Pink & Black : torn fishnet stockings tattoos and punk-fire. They play tighter than an elephant-sized cork shoved in a gnat's arse! It's all about the devastation and the smeared lipstick! Touring and more tattoos to follow.

their debut is an engaing set of tracks with a wide variety of styles and an attempt to excell that led to their progressive masterworks "Moving Waves" and "Focus III".

                                                    Boards Of Canada

In A Beautiful Place Out In The Country

'In a Beautiful Place out in the Country' is another brilliant EP by Boards of Canada. Encompassing four tracks culled from the same recording sessions from which Boards of Canada would later produce 'Geogaddi', the EP tends to favor a darker, more pastoral, and even elegiac atmosphere than its predecessor 'Music Has the Right to Children'.

                                                      Euphone

                                                      Hashin' It Out

This time there are some vocals but it's their virtuoso musicianship that lifts them above the glut of so-so emocore bands onto a higher plain. Great sleeve too.
