Poison Arrow

If You Don't Love Me (I'll Cut Your Face) - Inc. Konrad Black Remix

Dark wave techno / goth / electro-punk business here from Poison Arrow on the seductively named Pleasure District. A-side tracks, "If You Don't Love Me" and "Casa Show" both pair skeletal drum machines with gothy, pitch black female vocals and eerie metallic washes. A little Chris & Cosey, a little Massive Attack and a little Tropic of Cancer all thrown into one heady, black eye-linered muse.

Side B sees two remixers, Konrad Black and Razor take turns on the lead track. KB keeps "If You Don't Love Me" deeply in the sex dungeon, soaked in amyl nitrate and scarily carnal. Meanwhile, the Razor dub of said track sees it strung out into a highly taut bubbler, smothering the vocal in tape delay and allowing the various elements plenty of room to make their impact.

Causing an immediate stir around Piccadilly HQ this afternoon this is a beautifully dark and arresting record and one that should more than stand the test of time. Highly recommended!

    Causa

Inversion - Inc. Komon & Pablo Mateo Remixes

    First Choice

The Player - Inc. Mike Maurro Remix

The recent slew of perfectly pressed disco reissues continues to keep the DJs and dancers moving this week, with First Choice's majestic "The Player". Written by one of the seminal figures of the Philly Sound - Norman Harris, "The Player" is not only one of the finest First Choice records, but one of the best disco cuts of all time. Swirling strings and booming brass raise the tension as they swell above a hypnotic head nodding groove, while the streetwise vocals tell a tale of ghetto intrigue. Over on the flip, NYC DJ & producer Mike Maurro takes a break from his Brookside pursuits to turn out a respectful remix of the original. Tweaking the arrangement with an expert's touch, Mike extends the cut into a total dancefloor slayer. Made famous through the illicit but highly coverted "Lost Classics" series, this official repress should superseed any of the dodgy bootlegs knocking about the back of your disco racks.

    Lorelle Meets The Obsolete

The Sound Of All Things (Inc. Gnoomes Remix)

Red vinyl 7" single coupling the original album version of 'The Sound Of All Things' with a remix by Russian trio Gnoomes.

    Limited-edition of 274.

    STAFF COMMENTS

Barry says: One of the highlights of their album, 'The Sound Of All Things' is a slice of motorik guitar-driven synth pop, psychedelic and bracing, all remixed on the flip by Gnoomes into a dystopian re-imagining of the original. Shadowy where it was glittering, but retaining the charm and skill of the original. Great stuff.

    J Prorok & Captain Knuckles

Delicious Sequence / Some Day - Inc. Sobek / Sasha Dive Remixes

Brand new music from the capital here, Flow 2 The Floor presenting an EP of mixed house music from Hungary's Captain Knuckles & J Prorok alongside remixes from established producers Sobok and Sasha Dive. "Delicious Sequence" gets us underway with dreamy chime melodies cascading through reversed guitar sequences, reverb drenched vox and a very ethereal atmosphere. The psychedelic yet dancefloor nature of the track recalls classic Deep Dish DJ sets: hypnotic, expansive and kicking. Fellow Hungarian Sobek remixes the track, pulling out the tribal elements and locking us into a mesmerizing tom tom passage onto which he layers up male voice chants and steadily rising arpeggios. The resulting breakdown halfway through the tracks sees the intensity levels soar as the concentric arps and crashing white noise snares converge on the mix. Again, one for the house heads of the early 00's, this one recalls a mid-session Osunlade or Danny Tenaglia with its unrivalled primal power. Flip the disc and we're treated to a grinding tech-house workout courtesy of "Some Day". This one has the white isle's infamous superclubs inscribed into its DNA - sweaty, main room tech house with the perfect balance of tension, drama and big drops. Low pads bubbling away, swinging hats and stupendously catchy technoid refrains; think Carl Cox at Space and you're there! Frankfurt house royalty, Sasha Dive remixes "Some Day" for the EPs final track. Stylishly conjuring up another slice of simmering yet driving tech-house, Dive utilizes the bubbling low end pads wonderfully, creating new rhythms as he wraps a buoyant 4/4 around the stems.

William Bendix / Lewis J Force

William Bendix Vs Lewis J Force EP - Inc. Lucky Koi / Parasols Remix

Vivod welcomes slither-screen stars Lewis J. Force and William Bendix to the fold with additional work put in from Parasols and Lucky Koi. Bendix kicks off with the Detroit style disco-tek of "Dallas". Squelchy, chopped loops that somehow buzz with a disco flavour, think Sound Stream mixed with James Cotton and you're halfway there. "Centurion" is an unusual beast, with a big hook twisted into mayhem inducing riffage, supplemented with mechanical beat and juicy bass part. Lucky Koi sets to work on "Dallas" before the close of play on side A. Keeping that twisted flavour intact but somehow imparting his or her personality onto the master stems. Futuristic as Charlie Brooker trolling Philip K Dick on Snapchat (that's not actually that futuristic - ed). Flip and it's the turn for Lewis J Force who goes on a mad Poindextor rampage with "Folkestone Nightclub" - apparently a scathing tribute to the (lack of) nightlife around the Folkestone Riveira. That's a shame as I'd love to hear this banging out as the sun rises over the ocean at the end of yet another session down Kent way.... Anyway, Parasols also gets jilted and shuffled by the crazed shuffle setting on the track, turning up the aggression settings as we go spiraling into the nearest speaker stacks after one too many gary's and possibly a bump of K. Not that I was ever advocate such antics out in the field.

Indie rock songwriter Alec Ounsworth returns with a new album as Clap Your Hands Say Yeah. Dubbed The Tourist, it will serve as his fifth full-length under the moniker and the follow-up to 2014’s Only Run. The Tourist was recorded over the course of a week at Dr. Dog’s studio in Philadelphia. Its 10 tracks were engineered by Nick Krill of The Spinto Band and mixed by Dave Fridmann, who assisted on two of CYHSY’s previous LPs. Musically, the album is said to be a “nod” to Ounsworth’s inspirations, such as Tom Waits, Nick Cave, and Paul Simon, and features keyboard-laden cuts alongside more folk-based numbers. “I wanted to experiment with packing lyrics,” Ounsworth says in a press release. “On this album, the lyrics and vocal melody effectively carry the songs, maybe more than anything else. Elvis Costello does this really well on his song ‘Beyond Belief,’ as does Paul Simon on his solo albums.” In terms of theme, Ounsworth uses The Tourist to reflect on an emotional last couple of years, describing the songs as a “type of purge.” A “purge of certain emotional confusion that manifested itself in the last several years,” he explains. “I’d rather not say that it was a dark time, but it was a difficult time in my life — among the most difficult. But I needed and need to try to let it go. And this is how I let things go.”

Larry Dixon & LAD Productions Inc

    Star Time

For the past four decades, a growing cult of soul music collectors have sought two obscure LPs and a handful of extremely rare 45s released on the vanity record label LAD Productions, Inc. between the late seventies and the mid eighties by the mysterious South Side Chicago singer/song writer Larry Dixon. Larry's raw songs capture the transition from R&B to boogie-down as disco was rapidly becoming extinct. They also perfectly illustrate Larry’s ability to overcome his environment and discrimination, transcended by his determination to write and produce music. With the support of his faithful musicians, Larry's success was only hindered by lack of airplay and promotion, but his talent shines through. This is the story of Larry Dixon, his label LAD Productions, Inc., and his friends and family throughout four decades of music in Chicago’s toughest neighborhoods. Jerome Derradji is proud to reactivate Past Due Records - the boogie funk division of Still Music to release this fantastic archive – what many consider to be the Holy Grail - of Chicago Funk, Boogie and Soul. Each format includes a unique booklet with the story of Larry Dixon and his friends, written by Jacob Arnold, along with numerous pictures and documents previously never published. Artwork is by Al Kent from Million Dollar Disco.

      Randolph

Not Gonna Let - Inc. Andres / Charles Webster Remixes

New Mahogani Music twelve inch just in time to fill those stockings! Randolph is a bass player from Detroit, and as well as having two albums out on Still Music has featured on Jazzanova's "Funkhaus Studio Sessions". He has released on Still, Sonar Kollevtiv, KMS and Planet E. Here's he's joined by two of deep house's finest ambassaders, Charles Webster and Dez Andres, for a fresh EP of beatdown soul and bumpety house music for Moodymann's iconic label. "Not Gonna Let" kicks things off, remixed by Charles Webster. Murky, thick and heady, this is eyes-down, introspective soul music with just enough umph for slow, sexy dancefloors. Randolph hasn't creditted any extra vocalists on the 12", so we can only assume that it's him giving us these powerful, yearning passages. The OG puts Randolph's skilled bass work (along with his vocals) into focus. The funky, syncopated B-line complimeting the steady beatdown drums perfectly as Randolph's vocal smoothly slots in. On the flip, Andres gets to work on the track - turning out one of his stylishly executed, bumping slow house jams - fresh outta the MPC baby! Finally, short interlude / outro, "Peace" concludes with slick licks and soulful vocals jamming it out in a call and response style. No drums, just pure licks and vocals! Excellent stuff! More historic music from the motor city. Don't sleep.

        Ilya Beshevli

Wanderer Remixes - Inc. Simian Mobile Disco / Palmbomen Remixes

Ilya Beshevli’s sophomore album ‘Wanderer’, released in May 2016, gets a reworking of the title track by Dutch lo-fi house producer Kai Hugo aka Palmbomen as well as minimalist composer and labelmate Ryan Teague, whereas Simian Mobile Disco remix focus track ‘The Traveller’s Night Song’.  The SMD rework on Side-A is a woozy warped-keys rework of the original, with throbbing kick drums and cosmic echoes swirling around the stereo field. Starting with driving pitched kicks and a faded melodic trill working its way to the forefront before introducing both rhythmic and (later) melodic counterparts. Half Way through and it descends into some echoey melodic black-hole before kick-starting the part with an anthemic and triumphant ambient electronic climax. Move into the latter half of side-A, and there is a perfect juxtaposition to the dancefloor ready vibes on the opener in Palmbomen's remix of 'Wanderer'. New-age pads and woodwind-esque squeals are thrown together with aplomb, whilst giving way gradually to an ever encroaching melodic foundation. Half-way through and a resonant 303 rips its way into the mix, slidding and shimmering about the place, before coaxing the formerly meek ambience into some sort of distorted empathy. On the flipside, the epic Ryan Teague remix displays the sort of arpeggiated electronic ambience you might expect from Ricardo Donoso or Ulrich Schnauss before scraping and droning into a skittering rhythmic glitch. Highly melodic, but littered with artifacts (tape-stop/beat repeat etc) pulling and pushing at the established foundation whilst still retaining a cohesion and dedication to the source material. An excellently curated trio of tracks here, remaining true to the spirit of the original, whilst forging a new path for the outer boundaries of the sound.

          STAFF COMMENTS

Barry says: A perfectly flowing, and warmingly cohesive set of remixes from Ilya Beshevli's stunning 'Wanderer'. From cosmic electronic, to new-age with a bit of acid thrown in for good measure. A perfect digital counterfoil to the acoustic drive of the original.

          Pet Shop Boys

Say It To Me - Inc. Real Lies / Tom Demac / Offer Nissim / Stuart Price Remixes

You don't sell over 50 million records worldwide or become the most successful duo in UK music history without knowing a thing or two about a decent tune, and Pet Shop Boys bring their cultivated taste to the fore for this expertly curated remix 12" of recent single "Say It To Me". First up to the plate are London's foremost punk-funkers Real Lies, who follow up a festival smashing summer with this dreamy, dopamine infused rework of the legendary duo. Skittering rhythms and swelling synths abound as the London trio make everything soft and hazy. Next up Tom Demac brings some of the bass-heavy club sound he's dropped on Aus and Hypercolour, transforming the lovelorn original into a skipping and swinging UK house monster which should get plenty of mainroom play in the coming months. Over on the B1, Eurovision winner and occasional Brian Cox lookalike Offer Nissim takes the reins, showing us exactly why he's bagged four appearances in DJ Mag's Top 100, with a shimmering glitter-tinged house rework for the sophisticated dancefloor. Elegant and euphoric, this is the audio equivalent of necking GHB at a designer fashion show. Finally, super producer and man of many names Stuart Price delivers an alternate mix of his album version, layering tropical sounding keys and dizzying fx over a swaying beat. It's another winner from the mighty Pet Shop Boys.

            Doctr

Tropique - Inc. Kenneth Bager Edit

Every once in a while a record comes along that defies any sort of conventional explanation and transcends today’s numbed-out consensus beats - “Tropique”, the latest offering on Copenhagen’s Music For Dreams is one of them. Cosmic disco, neo-Balearic, retro-Italo-futurism – get as creative as you like trying to peg it but one thing is for sure, Doctr’s “Tropique” is undoubtedly an excellently crafted tune, an irresistible crowd-pleaser. As if magically appearing from the untouched realms of electronic music, the soundtrack to some quirky, exotic floating party at the centre of the Bermuda Triangle, “Tropique” is a simple concept, a seemingly innocent loop which rolls along and sneakily picks up more effects with each rotation. The production is near faultless, perfectly structured and fine-tuned to draw the maximum drama out of its infectious bass and tasty keyboard hook. Its creator? Well, little is documented about the producer who simply goes by the name of Doctr, but it’s clear that he operates to the beat of his own drum and knows how to rock a party with rollicking flair judging by the dubby yet joyous vibes he brings to this eclectic and high-sprited offering. “Tropique” sounds like its gestation was characterised by years of crate-digging and wild, balmy nights. Having played only a handful of acclaimed shows so far, it appears Doctr is that rare find; a crowd-pleasing DJ whose musical skills trump his proven ability to move bums.
‘Tropique” is the tune this summer’s been craving and will no doubt become virtually inescapable throughout 2016 and for years to come - a future classic for sure.

            STAFF COMMENTS

Matt says: Music For Dreams take a house excursion with this piano driven terrace tonker from Doctr. Hedonistic shizzle which comes backed by a Compass Point styled rework from Mr Bager himself.

            The Invisible

Life's Dancers - Inc. Floating Points Remix

In a career packed with plaudits, critical praise and plenty of highlights (for instance, when I put them on at Sounds From The Other City), The Invisible have cut a singular path through the musical world, remaining independent and individual whilst still achieving mainstream success. That they manage to pull this off whilst still boasting an ephemeral, essentially indescribable sound and style is remarkable when you think about it.
Here the trio follow their excellent third LP with a 12" single brought to you in collaboration with DJ, producer, jazz genius and man of the moment Floating Points. And it's the Eglo man who kicks us off, taking the controls for an A-side remix chocked full of loose funk and heart swelling melody. Sweeping, autumnal strings drift over syncopated drums and punchy bass, fusing into a nebulous shelter for Dave Okumu's gossamer vocals. Dreamy, deep and dancey, the track drops out into stripped back, groove led excursions with just enough frequency to make those maximal moments hit with full emotional resonance. Peppered with the trilling synths, sparkling sequences and subtle tones he's made his own, this is Floating Points in full control of all around him - simply masterful. Even for a man of FP's inummerable talents, none of this would be possible with from piss-poor material, and The Invisible's original version opens the flip in no less impressive fashion. Emotive, immersive and blessed with the kind of off-kilter rhythm missing from music since Micachu had her Shapes, this fusion of jazz tones, funk beats and dreampop haze is worth the admission fee alone. But that's not all folks, for deep in the obscurity of the B2 glimmers a brand new track, co-written by Floating Points. Powered by thudding drum machines and sparkling sequences, "First Time" offers dramatic 80s tinged guitar chords, booming boogie bass and all the wonk you'd expect from an intoxicated evening at an Eglo showcase. If you're digging on the synthetic soul sound of Blood Orange or Ghostpoet right now, you'll love this.

              Igor Jadranin

The Boulevardd EP - Inc. Ashley Beedle Remix

Back To The World return with a big 12" featuring peak-time jazz-tinged house and a Todd Edwards-esque remix from the legendary Ashley Beedle. Igor Jadranin takes no prisoners with the title track of his EP - the monumental "Boulevardd". This slice of dirty and distorted techno jazz leads you into a very dark place filled with relentless piano breaks punctuated by an unnerving single note string. "Hero" is beautifully crafted with a staggered beat covered by a layer of synths on par with jazz fusion great, Ronnie Foster. A killer break down leads you back into the deceptively simple beats. For those that like their beats broken, the Mr J's mix of "Middle Proves" ticks all the boxes. Vocoder interplays teamed with synth, effects and chopped vocals. Mr Beedle steps up to the plate with his 'North Street' mix of "Middle Proves" aided and abetted by Darren Morris and Jo Wallace on production duties. Mr Morris's keyboard skills come to the fore with some lush, jazz tinged piano and the vocal interludes pay homage to the influence of UK garage legend Todd Edwards. Drop this is the latter stages of your set and watch the basement implode!

                Sarah Neufeld

                The Ridge

Sarah Neufeld is a violinist and composer based in Montréal, Canada. Best known as a member of Arcade Fire, she is also a founding member of the acclaimed contemporary instrumental ensemble Bell Orchestre, and most recently as half of an exciting new duo with renowned saxophonist Colin Stetson. Neufeld counts Bela Bartok, Steve Reich, Iva Bittova and Arthur Russell among the formative influences for her solo work, in tandem with an ear for the textures and sensibilities of contemporary electro-acoustic, avant-folk and indie rock music.

In 2013 Sarah Neufeld released her debut album "Hero Brother" on Montreal's Constellation Records (home of Godspeed You! Black Emperor and Colin Stetson), which was produced by Nils Frahm. "The Ridge", Neufeld's second solo album, features performances and production from the likes of Colin Stetson, Tim Hecker and Arcade Fire's Jeremy Gara on drums and synth. This new body of work sees Neufeld moving away from Hero Brother's classical minimalism and sepulchral ambience, and into the world of rhythmic pop minimalism. "The Ridge" employs more emphasis on vocalizations than Neufeld's previous works; the interplay between Neufeld’s voice and violin has become strongly integrated and narrative. Jeremy Gara adds greater layers to the compositions, creating an intense, dynamic atmosphere, and a captivating listen from start to finish.

                  Jones

                  Hoops - Inc. Wet Remix

37 Adventures are proud to present ‘Hoops’, the new single from Jones.

Raised in East London, at an early age Jones began to turn her most private diary entries into songs. Since then she’s been gradually letting others into the world she’s created; namely XL’s resident producer Rodaidh McDonald and multifaceted Ninja Tune artist Raffertie, plus alt-pop mastermind (and brother of Jai) A K Paul.

‘Hoops’ has been co-produced by rising talents XO and Josh Record. It’s a gutsy, introspective, innovative track about heartbreak wrapped up in an intrically layered production that references grime and electronica in its R&B / pop styling.

With one of the most anticipated debut albums of the year, the Jimmy Fallon-approved Brooklyn trio Wet bring their minimalist, beat driven R&B production to ‘Hoops’ on this intimate remix that strips the original back to a skittering ballad.

‘Hoops’ is pressed on a hand-stamped 12” vinyl and is backed with the original version of the Jones track.

Tell Me - Inc. Ashley Beedle / Severino & Nico De Ceglia / Lay-Far Remixes

This fifth instalment of Ashley Beedle's Back To The World label sees the esteemed selector rally the troops and present four killer remixes of the enigmatic and bohemian Waterson. On the A1 KDA provides his trademark pulsing bass – a sound that recently propelled him to No. 1 with Tinie Tempah & Katy B - delivering a rolling dub remix with nods to early-90s house. Hitting the dancefloor hot on his heels, label head Ashley Beedle works his house magic with a King Street inspired remix which pays tribute to the classic sound of Levan and Knuckles. On the flip, Horse Meat Disco's Severino teams up with regular partner in crime Nico De Ceglia to give "Tell Me" the proto-house treatement with a mix which is both raw and full of the uplifting and urgent energy of disco. Fast emerging as one of Europe's most in-demand deep-house producers and a leading light in Moscow's underground house scene, Lay-Far re-works the track with mesmerising depth and soul, closing the EP with a version perfect for fans of Motor City Drum Ensemble and Max Graef alike.

                    Zanzibar Chanel

Big Bone Bitch - Inc. Bell Towers Remix

Zac and Louis are back as Zanzibar Chanel, inaugurating the slightly obscene Pig Sweat imprint with the fresh dancefloor pressure of "Killer", unreleased classic "Big Bone Bitch" and a whacked out edit offered by fellow ex-Melbournite Bell Towers. After a hallucinatory snatch of Peppa Pig, our hosts get down to business, working 8-bit sequences into a basement weapon par excellence. The funk of the 'jazz club' is all but forgotton as ZC pay homage to Prescription classics on a cheap and trashy studio set up. Drifting, swelling pads almost to lift us up to the heavens, but the scuzzy aethetic keeps things down low and dirty. Switching to the flip, ZC treat us to the first vinyl outing of their slamming, stomping, voguing classic "Big Bone Bitch". Giving NYC's Ballroom scene and Chi-Town's Dance Mania catalogue a fresh and modern twist, the crew top a squelching b-line and rattling drum groove with some life affirming, sleazy and totally ridiculous lyrics - it's one hell of a party. Bell Towers drops by on the B2 to treat us to his interpretation of their Gok Wan groover, laying down a Fingers Inc-inspired backing before sending those vocals through the chopper - did I mention it was party time?

“This track is the highest grade of electronic pop” - i-D

'They Know' combines pop vocals, synth textures and clipped garage beats, while exclusive track 'White Noise' shuffles along on electro rhythms. Richard Norris is brought in for the remix, utilising his know how as the Grid for a house remix of 'They Know'.

Amateur Best is the alias of Birmingham-based “personal pop” musician, songwriter and producer Joe Flory.

His second album ‘The Gleaners’ was released via Brille Records (The Knife, Gwilym Gold, John Wizards).

‘They Know’ follows the release of single ‘Marzipan’ which picked up radio support from Radio 1’s Annie Mac and Huw Stephens and XFM’s John Kennedy and Eddy Temple Morris.

                    BJ Smith

Between Ship And Shore Part Two - Inc. A Man Called Adam Remix

The first missive in BJ Smith's "Between Ship And Shore" series surfed a wave of excitement like a message in a bottle, landing softly in our hearts with its horizontal beauty. Now we're graced with more mellow magic and majesty via the second instalment, which comes complete with a remix from A Man Called Adam. JJ Cale, Terry Callier and John Martyn all influence and inspire Ben, and this is apparent in his subtle yet powerful tales. "Stars Festoon" sees the songwriter transport the listener to a bygone era with a meandering, jolly jaunt day trip to the beach, gently bobbing about in small wooden boats, as beach fires and the smell of fish and chips with salt and vinegar wafting through the air. Balearic pioneers and longstanding laid back music evangelists, A Man Called Adam add their deft touch to "Stars Festoon" and take it down a slightly off beat track between the sand dunes with electronic glitches, pops and bass sounds. Stripping it back to bare bones and isolating vocal parts to give it a slightly haunted feel, A Man Called Adam deliver a stunning revision perfect for a late night / early morning beach walk soundtrack. "If Only Sometimes" once again delivers, with its wonderful piano led opening and gentle guitar pickings allowing Ben to soothe and gently ease the listener in before enveloping them with warm harmonies and uplifting vocals, enhanced by the euphoric string section that then gives way to wonderful brass stabs and the crescendo. It's time to drift away again.

                    Hello Sailor 001

Muko Wapi - Inc. Joakim Remix

Hello Sailor is a party and record label based in Brooklyn, NY founded by Brazilian-born, New York based Renata Do Valle. Since 2012, the label has been staging events with an array of local and international artists.
Hello Sailor Recordings debuts with the focus on releasing only 7" records and building its collection of significant disco, funk, afro, and Balearic music.

The energy of the tropics, sunset, and the beach informs the feel of this music.

Hello Sailor Recording's first 7" release is a remastered African jam called Muko Wapi and an edit by French musician Joakim. 'Brazil meets Africa via France'!

Hinterland - Inc. Katja Waske Remix

In a move that's certain to please the proper techno heads out there, East India Youth has finally seen fit to deploy the finest piece of dancefloor weaponary on his critically acclaimed debut LP in 12" form. Militaristic drums, driving sequences and swirling modular washes interlock into a pulsating nuclear core, well on its way to meltdown. Falling somewhere between the stripped back machine funk of Factory Floor and the unyielding energy of a Carl Craig classic, "Hinterland" is the kind of cut you build your whole set around. In other words, totally massive. On the flipside, the mysterious Katja Waske drops in to provide a face melting remix, which ramps up the aggression tenfold, turning "Hinterland" into raw techno filth. If you're after one of those thunderous stadium sized techno monsters usually released by either of the Kalkbrenner brothers, then this is your new jam. Serrated sequences, pounding percussion and searing drones combine perfectly to set the night on fire.

                      Caribou

Our Love - Inc. Daphni Remix

Caribou follows up the blink-and-you'll-miss-it "Can't Do Without You" 12" with limited single from his forthcoming album; this time hitting us with the title track "Our Love". As you'd expect, the track is a lesson in production for the rest of the mortals out there, as Snaith balances programmed rhythms with a live kit, seduces us with the wooziest synths out there and plays pitch shifted vocals with virtuoso skill. Ostensibly a tale of two halves, this one builds into the kind of peak time monster the dancefloor was made for. The introduction is a emotional affair which sees the producer balancing those trademark ingredients which made "Swim" a classic with a couple of jazzy new additions, while the latter segment of the track is a floor burning rave assault featuring a tasty interpolation of Inner City's "Good Life". It's massive in other words. On the flip, Snaith partakes in a little split personality partying, switching into Daphni mode to mix the shit out the A-side. This one means business right from the off, hitting you with a one-two combo of bubbling analogue basslines like a long lost Virgo Four record before unleashing a full scale percussion assault. Gradually the spectral synthlines and pitch shifted vocals of the original float through the sound field prompting a little hands in the air excitement. This is total floor flaying madness; 100% essential!

Second limited 12" from Caribou. Title track from album plus Daphni Mix.

                      Laraaji

Remixes - Inc. Bee Mask / Sun Araw Remixes

As the new wave of New Age begins to gain momentum, All Saints present a new series of 12" featuring modern reinterpretations of forgotten classics from original ambient masters. The first part of this project sees a quartet of modern practitioners of electronic healing sounds reimagining four pieces from the back catalogue of New York's experimental visionary Laraaji. Beginning his career improvising trance inducing jams on a modified autoharp, Laraaji was discovered by Eno, studied with Satchidananda and invented laughter meditation while releasing a prolific discography of new age sounds. Within the recent recontextualisation of that oft maligned genre Laraaji has found a new audience among some Piccadilly shop favourites including Jonathan Wilson and Sun Araw, both of whom invited him to join them on tour. It's the latter who features on this 12", combining his trademark stoned skew with the celestial vibrations of "Tilturn" for a strung out trip into the realm of experimental dub. Elsewhere, Spectrum Spools' Bee Mask injects a dose of bass weight into the cystaline chime of "Cave", Ela Orleans creates the first psyche/breaks hybrid with a driving take on the melodic pulse of "Kalimba" and Motion Sickness Of Time Travel cleanses us with the purifying drone of "Space".

                        ACID7 - Inc. Vereker Remix

A magnificently malevolent two-hander. The Ekman is a furiously maxed-out piledriver; the Vereker is more Thing than machine, massive and roiling, scorpion-tailed and owl-eyed. The pulverising besiegement; the gory carnage.

Marcel Fengler can look back upon a very productive year as an artist. There was the “Frantic EP“ on Ostgut Ton, followed by DIN (a joint project with Efdemin) whose compositions formed one third of the “MASSE“ CD and ballet and then arguably his most creative and intense project to date: the release of his debut solo album “Fokus“. For the remix EP accompanying this release Dave Clarke, Aubrey, The Exaltics and The Traveller were invited to place their focus on some chosen tracks.

Dave Clarke opens the 12“ with his remix of “Sky Pushing“, the forceful but tender character of the original track is overturned into deep distortion and systematically lead towards gentle chaos, the steady drive of this rework leaves no room for pause as it propels the energies set free.

The break techno of The Exaltics, whipped up with nervous bass and smoky drums, serves as one of the groovier additions to this EP. The massive beats that follow the break lift the track to another level and when the mellow vocals of “Mayria“ set in, things fall into place in perfect combination.

On the other side Aubrey redefines “Trespass“. The absorbing arrangement combines unpredictable use of hi-hats and synths from the original with a dark and classic pumping beat and inspired flanger effects to diffuse the tension and create a balanced mix.

The final remix by The Traveller is also the greatest surprise, the track lures you in with a soft intro but soon develops into an old school techno stomper, the heavy kick and percussion is complemented by the reoccurring melody from “Jaz“ inviting you to immerse yourself in the sound.

                        Jamie Lidell

Big Love Remix EP - Inc. Machinedrum / Jimmy Edgar / Crackboy Remixes

Following his eponymous album release earlier this year Jamie Lidell  drops remixes of album favourite ‘Big Love’ PINK 12” vinyl .

Riding high on the release of his new album 'Vapor City', Machinedrum (also of Sepalcure, Jets, OM Unit and Dream Continuum) delivers a tough steppers version that combines early dubstep rhythms, acid synths and snapping 808 percussion. Next we have Lidell band member Lorenz Rhode combines 80s electro-funk synth riffs with a tougher 2013 sound. On the flip multi-talented Detroit-based electronic producer, designer and photographer, Jimmy Edgar hits us with a wicked 80s proto-techno / electrodisco version. Crackboy goes his own way with a slammin' house refix of other album track ‘You Naked’, which pitches Jamie's vocal down for a sleazy robot soul style.

                          B2. You Naked (Crackboy Remix)

Italian born Slok is the latest artist to join the ever strengthening roster at Turquoise Blue. Following releases on the likes of Get Physical,  Alessandro Russo this time delivers two cracking deep and techy dancefloor excursions for this EP. "Durian" is a sub aquatic groover, driven along by a weighty bassline while trickling synths and vocal whispers swirl around the mix. If you've ever found yourself just coming out of momentary amnesia while in a cavernous main room, then this may just bring back a few emotional memories. Ultrasone step up on the remix, stripping things back for a hollow and trippy experience; techy, minimal and packing a real punch when it finally kicks in. "Keep Moving" adds a heavy shot of machine funk into the mix and layers swelling drones up for an immersive experience. LA's Droog get us a little Hot (Natured) with their remix, adding some weight to the bottom end and making the most of the slow motion vocals. Packed with tension, this is a muscular beast for late in the session.

                          Diana

Perpetual Surrender - Inc. Four Tet Remix

Diana are an enigmatic foursome from Toronto. Consisting of Joseph Shabason, Kieran Adams, and singer Carmen Elle, with Paul Mathew recently joining the live line up. Shabason and Adams met while studying jazz at music college, and there are soft-jazz touches on 'Perpetual Surrender', which pulls in references such as new age dreaminess, Sade-like mellowness and wistful acoustic soul-pop - there's even time for a yacht rock sax solo.

Kieran Hebden obviously takes the 4/4 route, with some of his layered, percussive, fidgety house-not-house rhythms possibly created from the parts of original version. His remix slowly builds until he adds Elle's sweet vocal for the full effect. Subtle and dreamy, this is a delightful piece of dance-pop a million miles away from autotuned fodder that clogs up the top 40 these days.

                            Nonono

Like The Wind - Inc. D. Lissvik Remix

Debut 12" from much hyped Swedish three piece. Includes very special D.Lissvik Remix. “A sure-fire summer anthem” Gigwise“One of the best scandi-pop acts of 2013” The Guardian “Artfully balancing experimentalism and instantaneous brilliance” This is Fake DIY“Don’t be surprised if NONONO crosses over in a big way: simply too big for the blogs” Idolator

Swedish threesome nonono, aka front girl Stina Wappling, and production duo Astma and Rockwell (whose credits include icona pop, beatrice eli and bebe black) formed in Stockholm during the spring of 2012, following Stina’s return from Brighton where she had spent three years studying for a degree in psychology – a subject which has indirectly impacted on her songwriting...

“I don’t know about songwriting rules, and I didn’t go to music school,” Stina explains. “It’s more about a feeling I want to get out. Psychology has influenced me because it gives you so many tools to think about life and situations in deeper ways”. Stina now works in a mental hospital in her free time. “I like to have that world alongside the music, because the music industry takes itself so seriously. If you work with something really different, you get reminded that things aren’t so important, and the world won’t die if you don’t get a mega-hit.”

This thoughtful sensibility is reflected in their much-hyped debut release “Like The Wind”, to be released in the UK and Europe in July through Best Fit Recordings. Described by Popjustice as “a song you are going to listen to once, then immediately feel like listening to again, setting in motion a repeat listening frenzy that will last well over three hours,” it has also been championed by tastemakers including The Guardian, Notion and The Quietus.

                              Deafheaven

                              Sunbather

"Sunbather" is the highly anticipated new album from Deafheaven. Recorded and engineered by Jack Shirley (Funeral Diner, Comadre) and designed by Nick Steinhardt (Touche Amore).

With opener "Dream house" George Clarke's tortured vocals familiarly intertwine with Kerry McCoy's hypnotic guitar work before crashing into a wash of post-everything melody. This leads to the moving instrumental "Irresistible" a track that carries a twisted indie-like sensibility buried beneath glittery layers of guitar and piano.

Deafheaven explore sonic peaks and valleys created by superb percussionist Daniel Tracy (new to the band for this recording). His inclusion brings new dynamics to light as an urgent pulse to the swirling musical chaos. Pushing bleak epic "Vertigo" and the dark emotional closer "The Pecan Tree" to new, awe-inducing heights. Without question "Sunbather" is Deafheaven at the peak of their creative strength and vision of their young existence. A masterfully crafted work of art.

                                8.9 Pitchfork review

"With Sunbather, Deafheaven have made one of the biggest albums of the year, one that impresses you with its scale, the way Swans’ The Seer did in 2011. Like M. Gira's masterpiece, it has the ability to capture the attention of people who don't normally listen to heavy music."

                                Melt Yourself Down

Release / Fix My Life - Inc. The Subliminal Kid Remix

Melt Yourself Down are twelve hands, six mouths and six hearts. Beating and blowing, shouting and shaking in perfect symbiosis. The third single, ‘Release!’ is an electro-riot of bass throbs and clarion calls, manic horns and pulse beats. This is future funk, the spirit of punk. This is modal jazz detonated by rhythms to rearrange the DNA.

On the flipside: a head-spinning 11-minute remix of previous single ‘Fix My Life’ by Sweden’s The Subliminal Kid (aka Peder Mannerfelt of Roll The Dice). Spin magazine described it as “A lurching machine rhythm and lashings of synth squiggles and white noise, re-framing all that modal skronk in electro-industrial terms: it’s Addis Ababa meets Detroit in the year 3013.”

Nico Gomez And His Afro Percussion Inc

                                  Ritual

Belgium, not the first place you'd think of when it comes to Latin or Afro-funk. Yet one of the greatest records to blend both styles came from the small northern European country, masterminded by Nico Gomez and his Afro Percussion Inc.

'Ritual' was originally released in 1971 on the Dutch label Omega International (Gomez was born in Holland before moving to Belgium in the late 40s) and is being reissued by Mr Bongo in 2013, bringing its blazing funk grooves to both new ears and those already tuned in to this masterpiece's legacy.

Across its 11 tracks Ritual delivers the kind of production, arrangement and musicianship that rightfully belong in a dictionary next to the definition of professional. Gomez' band was tight and they knew it, showing it off on their covers of Perez Prado's 'Caballo Negro' and 'Lupita' by injecting the originals with a deep funk that blends both Afro and Latin influences. On 'Samba De Una Nota So' and 'El Condor Pasa', another pair of covers, they switch to soulful downtempo with mesmerising ease. The title cut remains one of the album's highlights, a devastating dancefloor groove with horns to match that has aged beautifully and was heavily sampled by Liquid People for 'The Dragon'. 'Pa! Pa! Pa! Pa!' adds touches of rock with fuzzy guitars for one of the album's headier experiences.

'Ritual' is a perfect example of the kind of experimentation that was rife in the 70s and which, when done as well as on this album, proves quite simply timeless.

She Sleeps Part 2 - Inc. 2000Black / Martyn Remixes

Drew Lustman is currently one of the hottest new names in electronic music. ‘She Sleeps’ is the second single from his new album ‘Hardcourage’ and features a collaboration with Friendly Fires' vocalist Ed Macfarlane. The single is spread over two separate 12”s. The only vocal song on the full length, "She Sleeps" features a brilliant, haunting turn from Macfarlane. Mysterious, tender and reflective, his lyrics weave around the driving, purposeful percussion and a melody that's singularly exploratory and gentle. The single comes with a remix package that more than does justice to the quality of the original. Exuberant London broken beaters / boogie-ists 2000Black (Dennis 'Dego' McFarlane, Kaidi Tatham) have worked "She Sleeps" into a deep, hypnotic soulful groove (this 12” includes vocal, instrumental and acapella versions of their mix). Meanwhile, Holland's electronic pioneer Martyn has reworked the track into a writhing, muscular dancefloor stomp.

Paean - Inc. Lone / Lukid Remixes

Fake’s ‘Steam Days’ album opener ‘Paean’ gets the remix treatment from two of Nathan’s favourite young British electronica upstarts: sometime Werk Discs brethren Lone, and Lukid.

Recent R&S album recruit Lone takes the Fake original and makes it very much his own, as 'Paean’s wistful strains slot seamlessly into Lone's seductive wobbly, wonky, early Nineties retro-futurist world view.

Fresh from 'Lonely At The Top' album duty, Lukid’s rework is a more transformative affair, sprinkling his trademark bass heavy hypnotic drum mantras with a suitably warped smattering of Fake’s mystical twinkles.

Finally, Fake’s own bonus contemplative ‘Coda’ version wrings every last ambient drop out of his utopian original.

The ultra-collectable 10” vinyl edition (with artwork by Jack Featherstone) is strictly limited to just 500 copies.

                                        Dear Prudence

Valentine - Inc. Blood Diamonds / Ford & Lopatin Remixes

“I got into Siouxsie, The Cure, Depeche Mode at school,” Madi says. “Everyone else was listening to chart music and I was looking for something different. Those groups struck a chord with me. Their legacies are such an inspiration.”

Madi has an extraordinary, spellbinding voice, a giant, soulful siren that crackles with heartbreak and sadness, irony and elation. Lyrically, the songs have a bittersweet, lovelorn feel, a fact that Madi ascribes to events in her personal life. “Songwriting is a form of escape for me. I grew up in a very quiet coastal town where I’d spend hours imagining the future. As I got older songwriting also became a way of dealing with the difficulties of things like love and loss.”

Powerful and dark, Dear Prudence's recordings have a modern pop flavour, underpinned with a strong undercurrent of moody 80s darkness. On this 12" we also get hipster R&B and synthwave refixes from Blood Diamonds and Ford & Lopatin.

Moribayasa - Inc. Argy / DJ Kaos Remixes

London based French DJ / producer delivers his third and strongest EP for Different. "Moribayasa" is a techno / house track with a shamanic African twist - bumping kuduro beats with a hint of electro and UK bass. It's sure to appeal to fans of Boys Noize, Brodinski, Turbo.

The EP also has stellar remixes from Argy and DJ Kaos. Argy (Permanent Vacation, Versatile etc) creates a driving techno rework that's much tougher and four-to-the-floor. Coming in with something a bit spookier is DJ Kaos, who comes up with a slower, sci-fi tinted remix that grooves along in a house stylee.

                                          Free School

Unravelling After The Lottery / I’m Not Nintendo - Inc. Mark E Remix

Free School return to Tirk for their second EP, bringing the Balearic sounds of summer and the icy Kosmiche sounds of winter all in one sweeping hit. Free School are maximalist and minimalist all at once.

The band, hailing from Birmingham, like to compare themselves to Caribou, Orbital, Hot Chip, Fourtet, and Pet Shop Boys. ‘Unravelling After The Lottery’ is a dazzling example of Free School’s inclination towards smooth analogue tones, articulating the solid groove with lovely reverberated percussion. Mark E steps it up in his remix with deep, deep bass and some tasteful synth flourishes amidst the original's foundational elements to suburb effect.

’I’m Not Nintendo' is as pleasing as they come, with layer upon layer of loveliness and a hook that will stick with you for weeks. Nutaike's 'Magnavox Odyssey' remix takes things a little more visceral, working those harmonics and melodies for that warm fuzzy feeling.

These four lean, mean dance floor machines will warm the cockles of even the toughest crowds.

                                            Pocket Feat. Steve Kilbey

Here In Noiseville - Inc. Justus Kohncke Remixes

Pocket is the snappy moniker of NYC based Richard Jankovich. As the principal creative mind behind the based electro-pop band Burnside Project he is not just well versed in top notch original productions but also is an indemand remixer (Beck, Radiohead, Kristin Hersh, Of Montreal, Elk City, Joanna Newsom and many others).

His debut release on Tirk is the ever-so-tuneful ‘Here In Noiseville’. In this first single Richard pairs up with Steve Kilbey from the Australian rock band The Church. Steve adds his thoughtful and emotively melancholic vocal to the classic, quality synth-pop backing track. First up on the remix duties is sister-label Nang’s favourite German golden boy, Justus Köhncke. Justus takes things on the dancefloor route, by adding bigger synths and some Rushent-esque Linn drum. Both Justus’ vocal and dub versions are included. Next up, Italian Brioski fixates on the groove by adding his slap bass and driving groove.

                                              System 7

PositiveNoise - Inc. Carl Craig Remix

"PositiveNoise" is collaboration between System 7 and British house music legend A Guy Called Gerald who now lives in Berlin, and is one of two tracks on the new System 7 "UP" album that they worked on together. The original club mix’s exuberant sounds and crisp beats exude an infectious feel-good quality and a bright techno confidence inspired by Berlin’s leaner sounds - already gaining plaudits and plays for its modern club feel. The Carl Craig remix strips down the original, and twists and turns for the dancefloor with dubby deep techno in Carl’s own legendary style. A.Mochi’s remix is a darker interpretation, with a long dropdown featuring shimmering S7 trademark sounds and a breakbeat build-up.

                                                Starlings

Weight In Gold / Weight In Gold - Inc. Starkey Remix

Sheffield four-piece Starlings – definitely a band to keep under close watch in 2011 - launch their balaeric-indie-funk sound in December with the release of their debut single "Weight In Gold". Influenced by the songwriting and production values of 80s chart greats such as Simple Minds, Heaven 17, and more prominently Talk Talk, Starlings infuse 90s dance bass lines with tripped-out dub guitars and psychedelic choruses from charismatic frontman Justin Robson. The band have already built a loyal fan base in their home city and now look to take their carefully crafted guitars-and-synths sound as far as possible. "Weight In Gold" is Starlings first anthemic step towards etching their name firmly into Sheffield’s great legacy of electronically-informed music, proving that there is more to the city’s musical future than the more traditional rock stylings currently dominant in the slipstream of Arctic Monkeys huge success.

Starlings are much more in touch with the spirit of the city’s electronic post-punk pioneers, using that heritage as a springboard for their sound. Having been taken under the production wing of arch psychonaut and cosmic remix king Richard Norris (The Grid, Time & Space Machine, Beyond The Wizards Sleeve), Starlings’ debut single is perfectly sparse with electronics and trippy guitars creating the ideal platform for Robson’s distinctive vocals to shine. This limited 7” version is backed with a remix by hard edged “Street Bass” maverick producer Starkey – his dubstep-style reinterpretation is already gathering high praise, following his recent work including mixes for Foals, Tempa T and Kano.

                                                J:Kezno / Roska

Rukus / Feeline VIP - Inc. Martin Kemp / J:Kenzo Remixes

Roska’s Kicks & Snares label returns with another cutting edge, bass heavy, club riddim, this time signing up J:Kenzo. Heavily affiliated with the Dub Police imprint and normally known for his dubstep stylings, Kenzo has come out of his comfort zone to provide us with a deep minimal, BASS-filled (funky) house track. Remix duties come courtesy of Blunted Robots mutant funky specialist Martin Kemp, who chops "Rukus" to pieces in a typically funky way. Lastly Kenzo remixes label boss Roska's "Feeline VIP", snagging the heavy drum pattern with retro rave keyboard lines. Already reciving support from Scratcha DVA, Brackles, MA1 and of course Roska.

                                                The Hundred In The Hands

Pigeons - Inc. Blawan / Walls Remixes

Having presented us with a couple of cross-pollinated underground 12"s previously, The Hundred In The Hands now step things up a bit before the release of their self-titled debut album by bringing us "Pigeons" one of the more upbeat and mainstream cuts from the LP. Indie-pop in the vein of Au Revoir Simone, but with a house-tinted dancefloor edge, the track is an absolute beauty. Obviously we don't escape without a set of alternative reworks, which kick off with a future beats version from Blawan. Percussive and sub-wobbling, this is a must for post-dubstep fans. Walls take over side B with one of their epic ambient-infused tech-house versions for the dancefloor.

Part synth-pop classic, part future pop blueprint, the unforgettably catchy "I'm Not Your Toy" is set to be La Roux's next instant classic and is as sure to take up residence in your brain as its predecessors. With her own sci-fi disco ice queen style cut from the same iconic androgynous mould as Grace Jones and Annie Lennox and looking as otherworldly as Tilda Swinton in an electro remake of the Man Who Fell To Earth, La Roux has ripped up the 2009 pop star rule book, already becoming an accidental fashion heroine, a pop star as beloved of fashion journalists as much as radio DJs. Both 12" and CD single features remixes come from Data (big main room electrohouse smasher) and Jack Beats (another of their monster fidget jackers).

New signing to Back Yard, Australian goth poppers Teenagers In Tokyo bring us this new 12". "End It Tonight" comes remixed four times here, with the Mad Decent leading the way with a funky electrohouse refix. Lex outfit Heartbreak come up with a darker, driving 80s inspired electro-pop rework. On side B Tybalt dip another toe in the electrohouse pool, with Sidechains bringing up the rear with a stompy, synthy rave refix.

"Give It Up" is the opening salvo from the forthcoming new Datarock album, "Red". It's typical Datarock - a brilliant slice of 80s-inspired disco-not-disco / punk-funk pop (complete with typically witty and surreal lyrics) that hooks you in on first listen. It's a short sharp shock that is reminiscent of the post-punk musicality of acts such as The Associates and achieves the fine balancing act of sounding both current and retro. Remixes on this 12" come from Kissy Sell Out (funky discoid electro), Fan Death (speedy indie-electrodisco collision) and Chateau Marmont (electrohouse). I copy found!

This latest Kotchy EP features an eye-wideningly expansive five tracks of new and remixed material from the multi-faceted genius songwriter-producer. Harnessing the more sinister side of "Superstar", Hrdvsion's jacking techno monster morphs Kotchy's sleazy vocals and killer drum breaks into a dark twisted club stinger. "Holla" is Kotchy's call to arms; a track for the everyman, its heavy beats, synth stabs and screamed vocals add up to a raw and experimental strain of wonky hip hop, with a lyrical mixture of struggle, pressure, humour ridicule and revolt. London and Berlin outfit The Chap turn their dial to smooth on their mix of "Check Out My Keychain", delivering a version that's clean and crisp and as strange and enchanting as it is stunning. Parisian wonky-hop master Debruit gets his KeeClac alter ego out on another take on the same track for more of a fidget house sounding party version. Rounding off the EP, "Party Your Blues Away" features Philly rapper Benni E, with her slick flows backed by Kotchy's hushed vocals. This cut is a lyrical drugstore built on spooky Mo' Wax-esque skewed dope downbeats, awash with strings and horns.

                                                  Pacheko

Tryouts / Bi Polar Bear - Inc. Cardopusher & Starkey Remixes

Enter Pacheko, of Caracas, Venezuela. A long time producer and supporter of the breakcore sound in his homeland, his sound has slowly adapted to dubstep with exciting effects. Musically, "Tryouts" and "Bi-Polar Bear" are similarly structured to the golden era Moving Shadow (Think Hyper-On Experience's "Disturbance" applied to dubstep), with each track revealing a series of distinct movements. "Tryouts", for instance, starts out quite aggressive, yet ends dubby. Pacheko shares an office in a design firm in Caracas with Cardopusher, and once he heard what was being plotted up with Lo Dubs, he threw his hat in the ring and rapidly presented a positively scorching remix of "Tryouts" for the flipside. About the same time, Philly ruler Starkey was working on a remix for Cardopusher on Terminal Dusk, and when his dubstep-to-four-beat-bassline-eight-minute-and-change epic remix of "Bi-Polar Bear" was added to the pyre, the circle was complete.

                                                    Free Blood

Never Hear Surf Music Again - Inc. Barfly Remix

First up on Rong's shiny, new DFA collaborating imprint RongDFA is Free Blood's "Never Hear Surf Music Again" 12". This two-piece Brooklyn band has more street cred than you can shake a stick at, and for good reason. Consisting of Madeline Davy (Octopi NYC) on the microphone and John Pugh (formally of !!!) also on microphone, Free Blood has got some serious, serious heat on the mic and mixing board. Hey, really, who needs other band members when you're rockin' a style this damn hard? "Never Hear Surf Music Again" is an unpredictable druggy number, a mangled hybrid of disco-not-disco rhythms fused angrily with a Butthole Surfers song and a hint of Beatles melodies later on. It's followed by the steaming mayhem of "Quick and Painful", a raucous affair that delivers a swift kick to the head in an indie-meets-R&B fashion. On the flip, the Barfly boys stretch things out a bit with a nine-minute Arthur Russell-style disco (not disco) remix of the title track. After tearing the roof off and burning down the place with their mind-crunching sound, this band is ready to clear out any venue at a moment's notice.

                                                      Pivot

In The Blood / Sweet Memory - Inc. Rustie / Clark Remixes

Pivot are an awe-inspiring juggernaut of rhythmic, wordless melodies – not quite post-rock, not just electronica. They've supported Battles on tour, and perhaps it's these Warp label mates that comparisons can most be drawn as both outfits serve up an adrenalin-fuelled rhythmic math-rock sonic attack. This is their debut UK release, featuring entirely new material, plus two remixes from Rustie and Warp label mate Clark.

                                                        New Young Pony Club

Get Lucky - Inc MSTRKRFT / WhoMadeWho Remixes

Originally released on the Noize label after the Ponies had left Tirk and before they joined Modular, "Get Lucky" is another brilliant piece of NYPC pop music. Featuring a typically post-punk inspired backing (choppy guitars, jerky dancefloor rhythms etc) and another strong vocal performance from singer Tahita Bulmer, the song has a real B52s feel to it (albeit at a much slower tempo). On this CD single there are also exclusive reworks by MSTRKRFT and Whomadewho, both rather tasty.
