The Horrors

Against The Blade

New EP2 from The Horrors, off the back of EP1 'Lout'.

    Faris Quote:
The Against the Blade EP is a further descent into chaos - about the freedom that comes with abandoning all hope, giving up control, and accepting that you will always be at odds with the world around you. There’s something about our recent writing that has felt really free and liberated, like being let off a leash - slightly ironic given the fact that lockdown forced us into certain ways of working. This almost feels like a new band now - a new beginning right in time for the apocalypse.

    Rhys Quote:
Against the Blade is a visceral attack of the senses. A heavy, riff rocking beast. Once the ball started rolling with writing Lout I liked the idea of challenging the band to push all the song’s in as extreme a direction as possible. Against The Blade and Twisted Skin were both written in Southend on sea over lockdown, it’s the most DIY music we’ve ever made. The first demos were written in my bedroom and work continued in Joe’s little shipping container studio which overlooks the estuary. The only element recorded in an actual studio were the vocals as we even recorded.

    L'Orange & Namir Blade

    Imaginary Everything

Namir Blade controls the clouds and the concrete. With the blink of a synapse, his imagination conjures elaborate visions of valleys of death, bad Tijuana dreams, and shotgun raids. In the next breath, he’s blowing off texts, rolling out of bed around noon, and crooning falsetto pleas about his willingness to change. The Nashville’s latest, Imaginary Everything is a work of teleportation and twisted fantasy, a wig-flipping blast of surrealism and slang editorials. It is a journey and experience. A collaboration with the otherworldly producer, L’Orange.

      Vangelis

      Blade Runner - UK Edition

The Blade Runner soundtrack was composed by Vangelis for Ridley Scott's 1982 film considered one of the finest sci-fi movies ever made. It is mostly a dark, melodic combination of classical compositions and synthesizers which mirrors the futuristic film noir envisioned by Scott. The soundtrack holds legendary status and at the time was well-received by fans and critics including Best Original Score nominations for a BAFTA and Golden Globe yet, except for a few cuts, it was not released until 1994.

The movie remains a classic film with a long list of popular movie stars including Harrison Ford, Daryl Hannah, Rutger Hauer, Sean Young, and Edward James Olmos most of whom appear on this record in movie dialog samples mixed into the 12 tracks of nearly one hour of music. Vangelis makes each track flow into one another. The soundtrack features vocal contributions from Demis Roussos and the sax solo by Dick Morrissey on "Love Theme."

        As I Lay Dying

A Long March: The First Recordings

In the United States As I Lay Dying are already one of the biggest exponents of the metalcore / new wave of American heavy metal genre next to Killswitch Engage. In order to bridge the gap to their next studio album and as a gift to their loyal fans, the band have re-released their early recordings on an album titled "A Long March - The First Recordings". Included are all the tracks from their debut "Beneath The Encasing Of Ashes", as well as the songs from their split CD with American Tragedy, both originally released in 2001.

          The Red Chord

          Clients

Vicious, complex hardcore / grind / mathcore apocalypse of sound. A densely structured maelstrom tightly bound by precise hammer blows and coloured by searing guitars and dark exorcistvocals. Like opening the door on a blast furnace.

            Unearth

            The Oncoming Storm

"The Oncoming Storm", Unearth's third album and Metal Blade debut is probably their best to date, some achievement following on as it does from the critically acclaimed "Stings Of Conscience" and "Endless" LPs. This release should definitely cement their position as nu-metal/hardcore innovators, a reputation that has earned them tour slots with In Flames, Hatebreed, Lamb Of God, Killswitch Engage, Soilwork and Chimera. Vocalist Trevor Phipps gives his most powerful performance, alternating hardcore razored throat rage with a cleaner vocal style; all beautifully set against a burning double seven string guitar assault and bruising double bass, fuelling crushing breakdowns. Gorgeous, apocalyptic and articulate.
