Stop Making Sense (Deluxe Edition)

The Stop Making Sense full concert for the first time ever on vinyl. 2 LP with a reproduction of the original booklet from the 1984 limited edition pressing with additional pages and never before seen photos. Includes brand new notes written by Chris, David, Jerry and Tina. The track list includes previously unreleased tracks “Cities” and “Big Business/I Zimbra”.

The inspiration for Stop Making Sense came when director Jonathan Demme saw Talking Heads perform during the band’s 1983 tour for Speaking in Tongues. Afterward, he approached them with the idea of making the show into a concert film. They agreed and worked together over the next few months to finalize the details. Ultimately, Demme filmed three shows at Hollywood’s Pantages Theater in December 1983 to create Stop Making Sense.

The concert film presents a retrospective of the band up to that point, with a performance that weaves together songs from all six of its studio albums. The show progresses methodically, opening with Byrne onstage performing “Psycho Killer” alone with a drum machine. After each song, he’s joined by a new band member until Weymouth, Frantz, and Harrison are all on stage with him. The group continues to grow throughout the concert as members of the stellar touring band are added: keyboardist Bernie Worrell, percussionist Steve Scales, guitarist Alex Weir, and back-up singers Lynn Mabry and Ednah Holt.

The band performs 18 songs in Stop Making Sense, including its recent single at the time, “Burning Down The House.” That summer, the song was in heavy rotation on radio and MTV, helping the song become the band’s first top 10 hit in America. It was, however, a different song from Speaking in Tongues that was destined to deliver one of the film’s signature moments. Byrne would perform “Girlfriend Is Better” wearing his now iconic, oversized business suit inspired by costumes worn in traditional Japanese theater. For good measure, a picture of him in the suit also graces the album cover.
Stop Making Sense focuses mainly on music by Talking Heads but does include a few songs recorded outside the band: “Genius Of Love” by Tom Tom Club, Weymouth and Frantz’s side-project, and “What A Day That Was” and “Big Business” from Byrne’s 1981 album, The Catherine Wheel. Limited edition vinyl versions of both of these albums, along with Harrison’s The Red And The Black, will be available for this year’s Record Store Day on April 21.
Stop Making Sense was an artistic and commercial triumph when it arrived in September 1984. The film had people dancing in theatre aisles while the soundtrack sold over two million copies. Just last year, the Library of Congress added Stop Making Sense to the National Film Registry in recognition of its cultural, historical, and aesthetic significance.

In the deluxe edition liner notes, the four band members share their thoughts and memories of the project.

Weymouth praises Demme as a collaborator: “…Jonathan was a very enthusiastic, highly adaptive, and imaginative guy who was just as good a listener as he was a talker and collaborator. From the get-go you just got the impression he was as flexible as he was disciplined. Being team players, that boded well for a great relationship and a great film!”

Harrison says the film still holds up today: “To me, Stop Making Sense has remained relevant because the staging and lighting techniques could have been created in a much earlier time period. For example, Vari-Lights, lights with motors to re-aim them, had just come into vogue. Had we used them, there would have been a timestamp on the film, and it eventually would have felt dated...The absence of interviews, combined with the elegant and timeless lighting, created a film that can be watched over and over.”

Byrne says it’s interesting that this album was – for many people – an introduction to Talking Heads. “We had done a live album before this, but coupled with the film, and with the improved mixes and sound quality, this record reached a whole new audience. As often happens, the songs got an added energy when we performed them live and were inspired by having an audience. In many ways, these versions are more exciting than the studio recordings, so maybe that’s why a lot of folks discovered us via this record.”

Frantz recalls the sheer joy surrounding the entire Stop Making Sense experience. “I’m talking about real, conscious, transcendent joy… I’m talking about what the Southern gospel people call ‘getting happy,’ which means ‘to be filled with the Spirit.’ That is what happened to us onstage every night, and from my seat behind the drums, I recognized that this was happening to the audience too. Joy was visible in front of me and all around me every night.”

    Song To A Seagull - 2023 Reissue

Joni Mitchell has established herself as one of the most-talented songwriters of her generation. Song To A Seagull was Joni Mitchell’s debut album, originally released in 1968. The two sides of the LP are labelled ‘I Came to the City’ and ‘Out of the City and Down to the Seaside’.

The original mix has been recently updated by Mitchell and mixer Matt Lee. “The original mix was atrocious,” says Mitchell. “It sounded like it was recorded under a jello bowl, so I fixed it!”

        Grateful Dead

History Of The Grateful Dead, Volume 1 (Bear's Choice - 50th Anniversary Remaster)

The original album, newly re-mastered by GRAMMY®Award-winningengineer, David Glasser, using Plangent Processes from the original analog 2-track tapes, recorded live by Owsley “Bear” Stanley. The Grateful Dead's first true archival album, Bear's Choice, was lovingly produced as a tribute to Pigpen shortly after he passed by none other that the Dead's original soundman and benefactor, Owsley Stanley, aka Bear. Drawing from live shows recorded three years earlier by Bear at the Fillmore East in New York City, Bear's Choice captures the Dead at an essential moment of their history, as they were about to record Workingman's Dead (and shortly thereafter, American Beauty), and were transitioning into becoming Americana pioneers, while never losing touch with their psychedelic improvisational roots. Three of the eight songs on the album are sung by Pigpen, with Side 1 being the definitive example of early Acoustic Dead, and Side 2 being electric blues and rock & roll, with Pigpen leading the charge on both tracks on the second side. This has been re-mastered by David Glasser using Plangent Processes from the original analog 2-track tapes recorded live by Bear and has never sounded better.

                      Booker T. & The M.G.s

Green Onions - 60th Anniversary Edition

One of the most popular instrumental songs ever, “Green Onions” started out as a band jam at a demo recording session for rock’n’roll singer Billy Lee Riley with the famed Stax Records house band. Stax label head Jim Stewart liked what he heard and recorded what would become the basis for the band’s debut album. Christened Booker T. & The M.G.s, they released “Green Onions” with original members Booker T. Jones (organ, piano), Steve Cropper (guitar), Lewie Steinberg (bass), and Al Jackson Jr. (drums) in October 1962. The title track became a worldwide hit, covered by dozens of artists including the Blues Brothers, the Ventures, the Shadows, Deep Purple, Mongo Santamaria and Count Basie.

The deluxe 60th Anniversary Edition of “Green Onions” releases as a 1LP 180g vinyl in a green translucent colorway similar in hue to the vegetable it celebrates plus a 4-page insert, including band photos, Stax Records ephemera and David Ritz’s new liner notes. This Edition also releases as a 1CD deluxe softpack.

                            Loaded - 2023 Reissue

Lou Reed's last album with the Velvet Underground has remained a reliable fixture on Rolling Stone's 500 best albums of all time, and others. Earning a 10/10 from Pitchfork and top accolades from Q, Spin, Uncut, AllMusic, Christgau's Record Guide, and others, this album is a fan favorite featuring hit singles "Sweet Jane" and "Rock & Roll."

                              Johnny Thunders

So Alone - 45th Anniversary Edition

So Alone is the debut solo studio album by Johnny Thunders, then leader of The Heartbreakers and formerly lead guitarist for New York Dolls1LP. Formerly lead guitarist for the New York Dolls, Johnny Thunders released his debut solo studio album, So Alone in 1978. The album opens with a loud, spirited rendition of the Chantays' 1962 surf rock instrumental "Pipeline." It's followed by one of Thunders' all-time classic tracks, "You Can’t Put Your Arms Around a Memory," that was released as a single and to this day is considered by many to be his signature song. It was later covered by Giant Sand, Guns N' Roses, as well as Joey Ramone and Ronnie Spector as a duet.

                                New Order

The Perfect Kiss - 2023 Reissue

Released in May of 1985, this astonishing track really upped the ante for New Order. Supremely melodic and with a brilliant synth refrain , this 12inch extended verion took the one off the LP and squared it! Coming in at nearly 9 minutes long this is one of New Order's greatest ever songs, and as with nearly all their remixes, this 12 inch extended verion is the  absolute one that you need!

                                    Sub-Culture - 2023 Reissue

Sub- Culture followed Perfect Kiss as the second single to be taken from the Low Life LP. Coming out in October of 1985 it featured a hugely reworked and quite possibly superior remix by engineer John Robie. Everything here is bigger, bolder and basically more dancefloor friendly, WITHOUT compromising the beautiful song as featured on the original.

                                      STAFF COMMENTS

Andy says: A more aggressive take on one of the standout cuts from 1985's Low Life LP, this mix features souped up electronics and soulful backing vocals. This was massive in Manchester back in the day!

                                      Shellshock

Shellshock was a stand alone single released in March 1986. It was more electronic than 1985's previous LP, Low Life and was actually quite a bit poppier too. Asi it turned out the song was written to be included in that summer's blockbuster teen, coming of age movie Pretty In Pink and as a result was an international hit .

                                            Fleetwood Mac - 2022 Reissue

Fleetwood Mac is the tenth studio album by British-American rock band Fleetwood Mac, released on 11 July 197. This was the first Fleetwood Mac album with Lindsey Buckingham as guitarist and Stevie Nicks as vocalist, after Bob Welch departed the band in late 1974.

The album peaked at number one on the US Billboard 200 chart dated 4 September 1976, 58 weeks after entering the chart, and spawned three top-twenty singles: "Over My Head", "Rhiannon", and "Say You Love Me", the last two falling just short of the top ten, both at number 11.

                                              Blue - 2022 Reissue

The 1971 masterpiece and the record for which she is still best known, this is one of the greatest albums to come out of the whole early-mid 70s singer/songwriter West Coast genre. It's poetic, introspective, acoustic-based and consistently melodic, as was most of the wonderful music coming out of LA at the time, but Joni stood apart and was worshipped by all the other movers and shakers as well as the newly denim-clad young hipsters, on both sides of the Atlantic. This became THE record of the day and it's resonated on through the years. It's not hard to see why: it's absolutely beautiful.

                                                The Asylum Albums (1972-1975)

Joni Mitchell was at a turning point 50 years ago. After making four acclaimed albums with Reprise Records, including her 1971 masterpiece Blue, she left the label to join the brand-new Asylum Records in 1972. Over the next seven years, Mitchell would record some of the most acclaimed music of her career while changing her musical direction by adding more jazz elements into her song writing. The evolution culminated in 1979 with Mingus, her collaboration with jazz titan Charles Mingus, and her studio last album for Asylum.

The Asylum Albums (1972-1975), the next instalment in the Joni Mitchell archive series, explores the beginning of that prolific era. The collection features newly remastered versions of For The Roses (1972), Court And Spark (1974), the double live album Miles Of Aisles (1974), and The Hissing Of Summer Lawns (1975). All four were recently remastered by Bernie Grundman. The Asylum Albums (1972-1975 will be available on 23rd September on 5-LP 180-gram vinyl (Limited Edition Of 20,000) and as a 4CD set. The cover art for the set features a previously unseen painting by Mitchell. The set also includes an essay by friend and fellow Canadian Neil Young.

The Asylum Albums (1972-1975), follows Mitchell’s musical evolution over four albums as she embraced more jazz-inspired pieces and moved away from the folk and pop of her early years. It includes essential tracks like her first Top 40 hit, “You Turn Me On, I’m A Radio” and her highest-charting (#7) single “Help Me,” plus favourites like “Free Man In Paris,” “Raised On Robbery” and “In France They Kiss On Main Street.” Mitchell has been intimately involved in producing the collection, lending her vision and personal touch to every element.

They were soon joined by Pete De Freitas on drums and the rest, as they say, is history. By the time of Songs To Learn & Sing original release the band were a force to be reckoned with, pioneering the post-punk, new wave scene with four highly acclaimed studio albums.

Heaven Up Here went on to peak at #10 in the UK album charts, being certified Gold in the process, as well as being the band’s first album to chart in the USA. Echo & The Bunnymen first released the single The Back Of Love in 1982, nearly nine months before the album’s release in 1983. It became the band’s first UK top 20 single as well as charting in Ireland. It led to the release of Porcupine in 1983, with Ian Broudie, who would later form The Lightning Seeds, returning to production duties having co-produced their debut album Crocodiles.

Initially rejected by the band’s label, the album was re-recorded with Indian violinist, singer and composer Lakshminarayana Shankar, who added strings to the tracks. The result was their greatest chart performance, with The Cutter reaching #8 in the singles charts and Porcupine finishing #2 in the album charts and went on to be certified Gold. Porcupine featured on many end of year critics’ lists, with their single The Cutter still remaining highly popular to this day.

Ocean Rain continued the band’s use of strings, creating a dark, ethereal aura throughout the album.

It produced three singles, Silver, Seven Seas and the massive anthem The Killing Moon; a track frontman Ian McCulloch once stated, “I know there isn’t a band in the world who’s got a song anywhere near that.” It reached #9 in the UK singles chart, and continues to transcend generations to this day, routinely featuring in films and television shows such as Donnie Darko.

The album’s iconic, atmospheric cover art was taken in the stunning Carnglaze Caverns in Cornwall by photographer Brian Griffin, who shot their three previous album covers. Ocean Rain went on to reach #4 in the UK album charts, being certified gold in the process, as well as charting in the USA.

The Replacements’ 1981 Twin/Tone Records debut, Sorry Ma, Forgot To Take Out The Trash, heralded the Minneapolis-based band’s competing tendencies toward indelible genius and reckless abandon. With now classic songs including 'Takin' A Ride,' 'Shiftless When Idle,' 'Customer' and 'Johnny's Gonna Die,' the 'Mats' legendary founding line-up of lead singer/songwriter and guitarist Paul Westerberg, Chris Mars (drums) and brothers Bob and Tommy Stinson (lead guitar and bass, respectively) unleashed a shambling, dynamic sound. Loose, live, and brimming with energy, Sorry Ma… is a lesson in chaos.

The 40th anniversary of Sorry Ma, Forgot To Take Out The Trash is celebrated this fall with a 4CD/1LP set that offers a remarkable document of The Replacements’ formative years. Of the set’s 100 tracks, 67 have never been released before, including the first demos the band recorded in early 1980, as well as a professionally captured concert from January 1981. Along with a newly remastered version of the original album, it also uncovers many unreleased rough mixes, alternate takes, and demos from the band’s first 18 months together. The LP included in the set, titled Deliberate Noise, presents an alternate version of the original album using these previously unreleased tracks.

Echo & The Bunnymen formed in Liverpool back in 1978, with Ian McCulloch on vocals, Will Sergeant on guitar, bassist Les Pattinson with Pete De Freitas on drums. Their first release came in the form of the single The Pictures On My Wall, with the B-side Read It In Books. Both tracks would appear on their debut album Crocodiles, released in 1980. Released amid the growing wave of post-punk, Crocodiles cemented the band amongst the best around, with the NME at the time describing it as “probably the best album this year by a British band” and featuring amongst many greatest ever debut album lists.

The lead single from the album, Rescue, was produced by Ian Broudie who would later produce more Echo & The Bunnymen material, as well as later forming The Lightning Seeds in 1989. The single would enter the UK charts, with the album breaking into the top 20 and going on to be certified Gold. The original cover was shot by Brian Griffin near Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire. The atmospheric, moody aura of the sleeve sets the tone for quintessential post-punk.

GIMME DANGER: MUSIC FROM THE MOTION PICTURE is a 14-track collection curated by Jarmusch and Stooges frontman Iggy Pop, with a focus on the group’s first three albums. It includes The Stooges’ classics ‘I Wanna Be Your Dog,’ ‘1969,’ and ‘Loose,’ along with rarities ‘I Got A Right,’ ‘I’m Sick of You’ and ‘Asthma Attack,’ and songs by MC5, Iggy Pop’s pre-Stooges combo The Iguanas, & more. It’s one of those rare soundtracks that appeals both to the most discerning fan and also as an introductory to those less familiar.

Singer-songwriter David Crosby’s solo debut, If I Could Only Remember My Name, was dismissed by critics when it came out in 1971. Over the years, however, appreciation has grown for the album’s adventurous aesthetic, stacked harmonies and haunting lyrics about loss and confusion. Billed as Crosby’s solo debut, the album was anything but a one-man project. Instead, it was one of his most collaborative efforts, featuring an all-star cast of players that included members of the Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane, and Santana, along with Graham Nash, Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, and others.

                                                                              Vinyl Details:

Starring James Fox as a British gangster on the run who finds refuge in the home of reclusive ex-rock star Mick Jagger, Donald Cammell and Nicolas Roeg's Performance is one of the great cult movies of the 1970s. The film's soundtrack, produced by Jack Nitzsche for Warner Bros., is equally noteworthy. Needless to say, the Rolling Stones connection is strong; the Jagger-sung single "Memo From Turner" was co-written with Keith Richards, and vocalist Merry Clayton (famous as the duet partner on "Gimme Shelter") appears on three tracks. Several up-and-coming WB artists also make key contributions, including Randy Newman (the raucous "Gone Dead Train"), slide guitar virtuoso Ry Cooder and Little Feat leader Lowell George. Like the film itself, the PERFORMANCE original motion picture soundtrack offers a fascinating glimpse at one of the most exciting eras in rock.

The band’s most experimental album, Anthem Of The Sun was an unprecedented mix of studio and live recordings stitched together to create a hybrid. More than fifty years later, it remains a pinnacle of psychedelic music. It also marked a departure for the band, as they began to channel their creativity into longer jams on songs like “Alligator” and “Caution (Do Not Stop On Tracks)” – two live staples of the Dead’s early days. During this period, the band included: Jerry Garcia, Bob Weir, Ron “Pigpen” McKernan, Phil Lesh, Mickey Hart, and Bill Kreutzmann. The LP features a remastered version of the 1971 mix, mastered by Grammy®-winning engineer David Glasser from the original analog master tapes.

The compilation starts with the epic Light My Fire, written by Doors guitarist Robby Krieger, and features other classics such as People Are Strange from Strange Days, Touch Me from The Soft Parade. It also contains the blues rock classic Roadhouse Blues from Morrison Hotel; which last year celebrated its 50th anniversary.

13 is now on vinyl for the first time in 37 years and includes newly remastered audio on 180gram black vinyl.

Produced by Booker T. & the M.G.’s guitarist and songwriter Steve Cropper, the album features a number of headline collaborators such as Bonnie Raitt, Jackson Browne and Glenn Fray; as well as Steve Goodman continuing to feature with Prine. Tracks such as “Forbidden Jimmy” and “Saddle In The Rain” show a slight change in Prine’s sound with Cropper’s production. The album also features a cover of Chuck Berry’s “You Can Never Tell.”

John Prine, who passed away in April, was one of the most celebrated singer/songwriters of his generation and recipient of the 2020 Grammy® Lifetime Achievement Award. Considered a true folk-singer, Prine was known for his raspy voice and equally admired for his unique songwriting ability. His career spanned over five decades, during which he created witty and sincere country-folk music that drew from his Midwestern American roots and incorporated sounds from rockabilly, R&B and rock 'n' roll.

In addition to earning the Lifetime Achievement Award this year, Prine also won Grammy® Awards for The Missing Years (1991) and Fair and Square (2005). His songs have been recorded by a long list of well-respected artists, including Joan Baez, Johnny Cash, Bonnie Raitt, Kris Kristofferson, Carly Simon, George Strait, Norah Jones, John Denver, Miranda Lambert, The Everly Brothers, Bette Midler, Paul Westerberg, Tammy Wynette and Dwight Yoakam.

After David Crosby left The Byrds, Stephen Stills’ band Buffalo Springfield had broken up and Graham Nash had left The Hollies; the trio formed one of the first, and still to this day greatest, supergroups. Under the same CSN, they recorded the band’s debut album Crosby, Stills & Nash to real fanfare. It shot the group into superstardom, culminating in a Grammy award for Best New Artist in 1970. Previously also part of Buffalo Springfield, Neil Young joined the band as their fourth member and the result was the band’s opus, Déjà Vu; a folk-rock classic. The album is revered to this day, consistently included in best albums of all-time lists in the media. So Far includes tracks from both of these albums, as well as the highly popular non-album single Ohio, alongside its’ B-side Find The Cost Of Freedom

John Prine’s self-titled debut album continues to sound as fresh as it did back in 1971, with Rolling Stone ranking it amongst its 500 greatest albums of all time. It includes some of Prine’s finest works such as “Sam Stone,” “Paradise,” and the famous “Angel From Montgomery.” After initially being spotted by famed singer-songwriter Kris Kristofferson, John Prine’s debut album earned him a number of admirers, including the likes of Bob Dylan. Tracks such as “Paradise” resonated with many, quickly becoming a bluegrass standard. Originally written by John for his father, the track has since been covered by a number of artists such as Johnny Cash and The Everly Brothers.

It starts with the title track “Sweet Revenge,” one of Prine’s most famous tracks. The majority of the album was recorded in Nashville, apart from the track Dear Abby, taken from a live performance at New York’s State University. It features Prine chatting to the crowd giving a prelude to the track, as well as the crowd reaction highlighting the wittiness and genius of his lyrics.

The final 16-track album included just some of the countless songs Prince recorded in the prolific period of 1985-1987, which saw the dissolution of his band The Revolution, the construction of his innovative recording complex, Paisley Park, and the creation (and ultimate abandonment) of the albums Dream Factory, Camille, and Crystal Ball.

This limited edition 2LP peach vinyl set and 2CD set will feature the classic album remastered for the very first time by Prince’s original mastering engineer Bernie Grundman.

Overflowing with ideas, hooks and slinking funk, the Purple One tackled the personal and the political while setting the template for every good R&B album released since.

Overflowing with musical ideas and topical lyrics that sound just as relevant today as they did when they were initially released, Prince’s iconic double album Sign O’ The Times captured the artist in a period of complete reinvention.

The Super Deluxe Edition will feature the classic album remastered for the very first time, 63 previously unreleased tracks, and a previously unreleased 2+ hour video concert performance from Prince’s legendary vault that illuminates his wide-ranging and prolific creativity in this era. Following the successful release of the 1999 Super Deluxe Edition in the fall of 2019, the Sign O’ The Times Super Deluxe Edition represents the deepest dive to date into Prince’s vault and includes a total of 92 audio tracks across thirteen LPs in the vinyl box set or 8 CD's in the CD box set.

Overflowing with musical ideas and topical lyrics that sound just as relevant today as they did when they were initially released, Prince’s iconic double album Sign O’ The Times captured the artist in a period of complete reinvention.

This September 25, The Prince Estate, in partnership with Warner Records/Rhino UK, will reissue Sign O’ The Times. This 3CD and 4LP Deluxe Editions will feature the classic album remastered for the very first time by Prince’s original mastering engineer Bernie Grundman, along with single mixes and edits released in the period the album was released.

Making its debut on vinyl, the project celebrates arguably the most important label in UK pop history, collating rare and obscure tracks from a diverse range of acts. It features 63 tracks including cuts from New Order, Joy Division, The Durutti Column, Happy Mondays, Electronic, A Certain Ratio, Section 25 and many others and includes sleeve notes written by Paul Morley.

Factory records was founded in 1978 when former Granada TV presenter Tony Wilson teamed up with Alan Erasmus, soon to be joined by maverick producer Martin Hannett. The Factory name was first used for a club featuring local bands including The Durutti Column, Cabaret Voltaire and Joy Division. The founding members of the label decided to release an EP of music by the acts who had performed there; “A Factory Sample” - and Factory Records was born.

Factory was however much more than just it’s headline acts. “Factory Communications: 1978-92” celebrates the label from the first release through an extremely diverse roster of acts from the cutting edge post punk of A Certain Ratio, Cabaret Voltaire, The Railway Children, OMD, James and Joy Division to obscurities such as Section 25, Biting Tongues, Crispy Ambulance, Miaow and Swamp Children via early dance culture - ESG and 52nd Street, to the full flowering of the ‘Madchester scene’, ending fittingly with the last Factory release, “Sunshine and Love” by Happy Mondays. Sleeve notes written by Paul Morley.

Each album was remastered from the original Atlantic stereo tapes by Miles Showell at Abbey Road Studios. Rodgers served as executive producer and supervised the remastering with the approval of Bernard Edwards’ estate. To ensure exceptional sound quality, the albums were mastered at half-speed and pressed on 180-gram vinyl.

Hot on the heels of their 1977 debut, "C'est Chic" continued Nile and Bernard's assault on the disco, and DJs and dancers can delight at "Chic Cheer" (Big up Fatman Scoop), "Le Freak" and "Savoir Faire".

Singer Rob Tyner, guitarists Wayne Kramer and Fred “Sonic” Smith, bassist Michael Davis, and drummer Dennis Thompson came together as the MC5 in 1965. The band performed for several years before making its first record. This year is the 50th anniversary of the recording of the band’s incendiary debut, Kick Out The Jams, which was recorded live over two nights at Detroit’s Grande Ballroom in October 1968. To celebrate, MC5 will release Total Assault: 50th Anniversary Collection, a limited-edition boxed set that features all three of the band’s albums pressed on coloured vinyl.

It includes Kick Out The Jams (red vinyl), Back In The USA (white vinyl) and High Time (blue vinyl). The albums come in sleeves that faithfully re-create the original releases, including gatefolds for Kick Out The Jams and High Times. All three are housed in a hard slipcase with new art and previously unseen photographs by world renowned photographer Raeanne Rubenstein. The music on TOTAL ASSAULT shows why the MC5 is held is such high regard today with indelible tracks like “Kick Out The Jams,” “Human Being Lawnmower” and “Sister Anne.”

This version is extended to 16 tracks, and includes four additional recordings:

‘The Professor & La Fille Danse’ and ‘Moody Mooday’ were both originally B-sides to ‘The Blower’s Daughter’ – ‘Moody Mooday’ also appeared alongside ‘Lonelily’ as a limited edition 7” single release in 2004. ‘Woman Like A Man’ was recorded live in session at Galway Bay FM and was the lead track for the song’s single release. ‘Prague’ and ‘Silent Night’ (featuring Lisa Hannigan), which were hidden bonus tracks after the album’s closing song ‘Eskimo’, are also included.

All three of the singles from the album went on to chart upon release, with ‘The Blowers Daughter’, ‘Cannonball’ and ‘Volcano’ peaking at #27, #9 and #29 respectively. Along with being gold certified, ‘Cannonball’ has been subject to multiple cover versions, most notably by Little Mix after they won The X Factor in 2011.

At the end of their US tour in June 1985 the band took a break from music, to return in November 1987 with ‘Floodland’ (UK #9). Still aided by Doktor Avalanche, Eldritch hired former Gun Club and Fur Bible bassist Patricia Morrison to complete the new line-up. Featuring the now iconic hit singles ‘This Corrosion’ (UK #7), ‘Dominion’ (UK #13) and ‘Lucretia My Reflection’ (UK #20), production duties were shared with famed Meat Loaf writer Jim Steinman.

                                                                                                                                                                    Dock Of The Bay Sessions

“Dock Of The Bay Sessions” was compiled with input from Roger Armstrong of Ace Records and Otis biographer Jonathan Gould and has the Redding family’s full endorsement. Although the individual tracks have been previously released across a smattering of posthumous albums and compilations, this marks the first time they have been assembled to resemble what this album could possibly have been.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the album’s opening track “(Sittin’ On) The Dock Of The Bay,” one of the last songs Redding ever recorded. Released in January 1968, it soon topped the charts in March 16th in the US becoming the first posthumous #1 single in the history of the U.S. music charts. It also reached number 3 in the UK, and went on to sell more than four million copies worldwide.

The live albums the band released during its 30-year career are the primary source for the collection, including tracks like “Bertha” from Grateful Dead (Skull & Roses) (1971), “Fire On The Mountain” from Dead Set (1981), and “The Music Never Stopped” from One From the Vault (1991). A testament to its ongoing popularity, the revered double-album Europe ’72 (1972), is represented by no less than five tracks, including “Sugar Magnolia,” “Jack Straw” and a searing rendition of “Morning Dew.”

Other performances on the set were selected from the growing number of live releases that have emerged since the death of founding member Jerry Garcia in 1995. Some of those recordings include “Touch Of Grey” from Truckin’ Up To Buffalo (2005), a 1990 version of “Eyes Of The World” with saxophonist Branford Marsalis featured on Wake Up To Find Out (2014), and “Estimated Prophet,” which debuted earlier this year as part of Cornell 5/8/77, a recording of the Grateful Dead’s mythic show at Cornell University in 1977, thought by many to be the band’s greatest live performance.

Following the Ramones 40th anniversary reissues campaign; the first three albums by Ramones will be reissued on vinyl with the remastered audio from the 40th anniversary releases. Ramones released its second album of the calendar year (and third overall) on November 4, 1977, capping off one of the biggest years in the history of punk with Rocket To Russia. Among the band’s best-loved albums, it features classics like “Sheena Is A Punk Rocker” and “Rockaway Beach” along with their signature covers of “Do You Wanna Dance?” and “Surfin’ Bird.” It’s also the last album ever recorded by all four founding members, as drummer Tommy Ramone left soon after to focus on writing and producing. This will feature the 2017 audio from the 40th Anniversary Edition of Rocket To Russia - remastered by original Rocket To Russia album engineer/mixer Ed Stasium.

                                                                                                                                                                            Strange Days (50th Anniversary Edition)

"Strange Days" (50th Anniversary Edition) was produced by the album’s original engineer Bruce Botnick. Accompanying the set are liner notes by music journalist David Fricke, as well as a selection of rare and previously unseen photographs.

Having a larger budget for Strange Days allowed the band to spend more time experimenting in the studio. They used an eight-track recorder for the first time, which resulted in some memorable overdubs like Krieger’s double-tracked guitar on “When The Music’s Over.” Surprisingly, the trippy keyboard sound heard on the album’s title track is actually one of the earliest appearances of a Moog synthesizer in a rock song.

Strange Days mixed new songs written on the road with some written before the band’s 1967 debut. In fact, the band performed “Strange Days” during its 1966 residency at the London Fog in L.A., while “My Eyes Have Seen You” dates back to 1965. Another early track is “Moonlight Drive,” which was one of the very first songs that the band practiced together, and where the band heard Krieger’s haunting bottleneck guitar playing for the first time. It’s also the song Morrison sang to Manzarek at Venice Beach in 1965 when the two former UCLA film students reconnected and decided to start the Doors.

"A tremendous debut album, and indeed one of the best first-time outings in rock history, introducing the band's fusion of rock, blues, classical, jazz, and poetry with a knockout punch. The lean, spidery guitar and organ riffs interweave with a hypnotic menace, providing a seductive backdrop for Jim Morrison's captivating vocals and probing prose. "Light My Fire" was the cut that topped the charts and established the group as stars, but most of the rest of the album is just as impressive, including some of their best songs: the propulsive "Break on Through" (their first single), the beguiling mystery of "The Crystal Ship," the mysterious "End of the Night," "Take It as It Comes" (one of several tunes besides "Light My Fire" that also had hit potential), and the stomping rock of "Soul Kitchen" and "Twentieth Century Fox." The 11-minute Oedipal drama "The End" was the group at its most daring and, some would contend, overambitious. It was nonetheless a haunting cap to an album whose nonstop melodicism and dynamic tension would never be equaled by the group again, let alone bettered." - AllMusic.

This reissue represents the first time that The Smiths’ back catalogue has been revisited in such a way. The album features several of the band’s finest moments including the title track and ‘There Is A Light That Never Goes Out’, as well as the iconic singles ‘The Boy With The Thorn In His Side’ and ‘Bigmouth Strikes Again’.

The Doors’ 50th anniversary celebration continues this summer with a new Singles collections that spotlight every single and B-side the band released in the U.S., all gathered together for the first time.

THE SINGLES shows the creative chemistry shared by drummer John Densmore, guitarist Robby Krieger, keyboardist Ray Manzarek, and vocalist Jim Morrison; four brilliant artists who made The Doors one of America’s most iconic and influential rock bands.

The collection includes the single versions from all six of the landmark studio albums the quartet released between 1967 and 1971, including classics like “People Are Strange,” “Love Her Madly” and “Riders On The Storm.” Also included on the CD versions are four mono radio versions of some of the band’s biggest hits, such as “Hello, I Love You” and “Touch Me,” which have never been made available anywhere after being sent to radio around their original release. The B-sides – many of which are making their CD debut – add another dimension to the band’s legacy with such stellar tracks as “Who Scared You,” which appeared in March 1969 as the flipside to “Wishful Sinful,” and a cover of Willie Dixon’s “(You Need Meat) Don’t Go No Further,” which was paired with the 1971 smash “Love Her Madly.”

THE SINGLES also features several songs released after Morrison’s passing in 1971. Among those recordings are tracks the surviving trio recorded together (“Tightrope Ride” and “The Mosquito”), as well as live selections from posthumous releases (“Roadhouse Blues” and “Gloria.”)

The Blu-ray disc that accompanies the expanded version of THE SINGLES features a high-resolution Quadraphonic mix of The Best Of The Doors. This 11-song compilation, available on Blu-ray for the first time, was remixed specifically for Quad in 1973 and offers a unique sonic experience on songs like “Soul Kitchen,” “Moonlight Drive” and “Love Me Two Times.”

                                                                                                                                                                                  Various Artists

Twin Peaks (Limited Event Series Soundtrack)

The eagerly awaited revival of Mark Frost and David Lynch’s revolutionary television series Twin Peaks is here, and with it, a new soundtrack. Music has always played a central role in Lynch’s work and it helped establish the haunting, dreamlike nature of the original Twin Peaks. The same is true for the new series. This special 2LP edition & the CD features twenty unique-to-the-show tracks.

‘Twin Peaks (Limited Event Series Soundtrack)’ heavily features grammy-award winning composer Angelo Badalamenti. Tracks will be revealed as they appear in the show. The fact that the Lynch-Badalamenti duo is back in town is something that will have old-school fans of Twin Peaks really excited about both the show and the characteristic music that - more than complementing the visuals - completes them.

Seeming to emanate directly from the dark heart of the Black Lodge, "Fire Walk With Me" is an altogether more brooding affair than the Twin Peaks series soundtrack. The surreal atmosphere and airbrushed shimmer remain, but the melancholic notes, minor key melodies and sustained bass tones are perfectly in keeping with the unending disquiet and foreboding which David Lynch achieved. Badalamenti won a grammy for the title track of this LP and it’s not hard to see why- it’s dangerous, and bursting with smokey jazz thanks to Jimmy Scott.

"Lucy, put Harry on the horn." And so began the most unique, iconic and absurd series in the history of television. For two glorious seasons we pressed our nose to the glass and watched the strange and beautiful goings on in Washington's weirdest logging town. We looked on in awe as Cooper drank coffee, ate cherry pie and savoured the woodland smells, got close to Audrey but kept a respactable distance. We rooted for Norma and Ed, Harry and Joan, Andy and Lucy, Margaret and her log, and laughed ourselves queasy at James and Donna's hilariously wet highschool romance. We tried to find Laura Palmer's killer, figure out the Red Room and the Black Lodge and work out exactly how Cooper got in touch with Diane. We failed, gave up and enjoyed the goings on anyway. And throughout it all, we were swept along on the thematic perfection of Angelo Badalamenti's sublime score. From the swelling bass and dreamy chords of the title music to the bittersweet beauty of "Laura's Theme", from Audrey's seductive jazz to the smokey sweetness of "Dance Of The Dream Man", the score never put a foot wrong. And now, for the first time in 25 years it's back on vinyl and CD, freshly remastered and properly pressed by Warners ahead of a brand new series! Aces!
