Formed in Leeds in the UK by guitarist Gary Marx and vocalist Andrew Eldritch in 1980, The Sisters Of Mercy released their first full-length album First And Last And Always in March 1985. The culmination of five years of independent releases, whilst building up a large cult following, their debut album reached Number 14 the UK charts, by which time the band also featured Wayne Hussey on guitar and Craig Adams on bass, both of whom would later leave the band to form The Mission. Originally signing to Warner Music in 1984, First And Last And Always was the only album from this highly influential line-up. The album was released in Japan in July 1985, and features different versions of four tracks.

Although this unique mix was used for the first CD edition in 1988, this new LP will be the first time that this mix will be available on vinyl outside of Japan. It will also be remastered from a new transfer of the original Japan production master.

The Replacements

Let It Be (Deluxe Edition)

Let It Be by The Replacements—Paul Westerberg, Bob Stinson, Tommy Stinson, and Chris Mars—is widely hailed as one of the greatest albums of the 1980s and a cornerstone of indie rock. On October 24, the landmark 1984 album returns in a newly remastered and expanded edition on 4xLP and 3xCD configurations.

This deluxe archival edition features a new remaster of the album from the original two-track analog stereo tapes, alongside previously unreleased and rare studio outtakes and intimate Paul Westerberg home demos. Delve into the band's infectious live energy with a complete, previously unreleased concert recorded in March 1984 at Cubby Bear in Chicago, IL.

As music journalist Elizabeth Nelson writes in the liner notes, Let It Be “is a record for girls, for the working poor, for the terminally shy, for anyone who ever felt like a freak in their own skin. And it still is... It is, in short, the blueprint for what so many of us wanted and needed rock and roll to be: a refuge, a provocation, a mother, a middle finger, and, in the end, a way out.”

Crocodiles - 2025 Repress

Echo & The Bunnymen formed in Liverpool back in 1978, with Ian McCulloch on vocals, Will Sergeant on guitar, bassist Les Pattinson with Pete De Freitas on drums. Their first release came in the form of the single 'Pictures On My Wall' - which would appear on their debut album 'Crocodiles', released in 1980. Released amid the growing wave of post-punk, 'Crocodiles' cemented the band amongst the best around, with the NME at the time describing it as “probably the best album this year by a British band” and featuring amongst many greatest ever debut album lists.

The lead single from the album, 'Rescue', was produced by Ian Broudie who would later produce more Echo & The Bunnymen material, as well as later forming The Lightning Seeds in 1989. The single would enter the UK charts, with the album breaking into the top 20 and going on to be certified Gold. The original cover was shot by Brian Griffin near Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire. The atmospheric, moody aura of the sleeve sets the tone for quintessential post-punk.

Seen as a darker album to their debut 'Crocodiles', the album was well-received by fans and press alike, cementing their cult status in the UK. 'Heaven Up Here' went on to peak at #10 in the UK album charts, being certified Gold in the process, as well as being the band’s first album to chart in the USA. Ocean Rain - 2025 Repress

Echo & The Bunnymen released their fourth studio album 'Ocean Rain' in 1984, enjoying an enamouring cult status following the success of their first three albums. 'Ocean Rain' continued the band’s use of strings, creating a dark, ethereal aura throughout the album.

It produced three singles, 'Silver', 'Seven Seas' and the massive anthem 'The Killing Moon'; a track frontman Ian McCulloch once stated, “I know there isn’t a band in the world who’s got a song anywhere near that.” It reached #9 in the UK singles chart, and continues to transcend generations to this day, routinely featuring in films and television shows such as Donnie Darko.

The album’s iconic, atmospheric cover art was taken in the stunning Carnglaze Caverns in Cornwall by photographer Brian Griffin, who shot their three previous album covers. 'Ocean Rain' went on to reach #4 in the UK album charts, being certified gold in the process, as well as charting in the USA.

It became the band’s first UK top 20 single as well as charting in Ireland. It led to the release of 'Porcupine' in 1983, with Ian Broudie, who would later form The Lightning Seeds, returning to production duties having co-produced their debut album 'Crocodiles'.

Initially rejected by the band’s label, the album was re-recorded with Indian violinist, singer and composer Lakshminarayana Shankar, who added strings to the tracks. The result was their greatest chart performance, with 'The Cutter' reaching #8 in the singles charts and 'Porcupine' finishing #2 in the album charts and went on to be certified Gold. Peter Saville says of 'The Perfect Kiss' “The mirror finish for 'The Perfect Kiss' sleeve was the idea at the time (1985) that unfortunately was not realised. I have wanted to see it ever since. The original concept was intended to evoke the reflective glamour of a lipstick (re Perfect Kiss) in a minimal / pop art style. 'The Perfect Kiss' in this form will be transformative and a must-have for fans and collectors alike”.

The Sound

Jeopardy - 2024 Reissue

In November of 1980, post-punk legends The Sound released their debut album Jeopardy, a critically acclaimed yet often overlooked record compared to other releases in the musical soundscape of the early 80s. The Sound, which initially evolved from punk group The Outsiders, is a band that many musicians and many devoted fans alike consider to be one of the most underrated post-punk bands of all time. They sadly never had a huge following relative to their creative output despite being championed by famous Radio DJ John Peel, and Korova label mates Echo and The Bunnymen, as well as touring with The Comsat Angels.

New Order

Bizarre Love Triangle - 2024 Reissue

Released in November 1986, a few months after its parent album, Brotherhood, this track went on to become one of New Order's most loved songs of their whole oeuvre. This 12 inch features a beefed up remix that's quite different from the album version and is presented in one of Peter Saville's most beautiful sleeves.

STAFF COMMENTS

Andy says: A synth-pop classic and maybe New Order's greatest ever pop song.

New Order

State Of The Nation - 2024 Reissue

Released in September of 1986, this was New Order's 12th single and typically for them, was not included on the album, Brotherhood which came out only a week later. It's quite overlooked in their canon but I think its absolutely mega, with its pulsing electronic bottom end and oriental keyboard motif. Barney also plays some trademark choppy, funky guitar and the whole thing grooves along just fabulously, The instrumental on the flip is also deep and lush. This band could do no wrong.

STAFF COMMENTS

Andy says: Another superb non-album single from Factory's finest.

Touched By The Hand Of God - 2024 Reissue

New Order's 15th single was, again, a stand alone release not affiliated to any LP. It was a real treat being a fan of this mysterious band in the mid 80's. This was December 1987 and a follow up of sorts to the incredible True Faith. Very much a different kind of beast bur still something to be treasured by this very special band.

The DVDs will additionally include live TV performances, interviews and rare band footage. The extensive hardback book will include contemporary articles and liner notes by Irish radio DJ Dave Fanning.

STAFF COMMENTS

Andy says: ‘Brotherhood’ is possibly my favourite album by New Order and it was famously split into the rock side and the electronic side. Both are fantastic and there's not one weak track. Highlights are “Bizarre Love Triangle” and “All Day Long”, two of my favourite all time songs; simple as that!

Trainspotting OST

Based on the Irvine Welsh novel of the same name, the film version of "Trainspotting" directed by Danny Boyle became a cult sensation. Focused on the heroin subculture of Edinburgh in the 1980s, the film is occupied with surrealism, black comedy and features a great soundtrack. Classic tracks by Iggy Pop, New Order, Sleeper (covering Blondie no less) and Underworld soundtracked iconic scenes of nightclub hedonism, petty crime, underage sex and Heroin related defecation in this triumph of British cinema. With the likes of Blur, Primal Scream, Lou Reed, Pulp and Leftfield rounding out the tracklist, this is an essential ingredient in any decent collection. To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the iconic drama, the original soundtrack is being reissued on CD and vinyl. Having been out of print for a long time, the 180g vinyl features replica original artwork that includes special silver spot finishes throughout - front, back, booklet and picture labels, as well as bright pantones. There will be a limited run on orange vinyl before moving to black once sold out.

Fleetwood Mac

Rumours Live

Fleetwood Mac was at the top of its game in August 1977 when the band returned to its adopted home in Southern California to play three shows at The Forum in Los Angeles. Rumours had only been out a few weeks when the band left in February to tour the world, returning six months later to play three shows at The Forum for nearly 50,000 fans. Rumours achieved #1 in the UK and went well on its way to becoming one of the most successful albums ever released, which has been certified 14x Platinum in the UK.

RUMOURS LIVE captures the energy and excitement of the band’s opening night at The Forum on August 29, 1977. The nearly 90-minute performance includes live versions of most of the songs from Rumours and Fleetwood Mac, the group’s first multi-platinum #1 album, which came out in 1975.

The concert remained unreleased for decades until 2021, when “Gold Dust Woman” from the show was included as a bonus track on Live: Deluxe Edition, Rhino’s expanded version of Fleetwood Mac’s 1980 concert album. The other 17 songs on the collection have never been released before.

Joni Mitchell

Song To A Seagull - 2023 Reissue

Joni Mitchell has established herself as one of the most-talented songwriters of her generation. Song To A Seagull was Joni Mitchell’s debut album, originally released in 1968. The two sides of the LP are labelled ‘I Came to the City’ and ‘Out of the City and Down to the Seaside’.

The original mix has been recently updated by Mitchell and mixer Matt Lee. “The original mix was atrocious,” says Mitchell. “It sounded like it was recorded under a jello bowl, so I fixed it!”

Grateful Dead

History Of The Grateful Dead, Volume 1 (Bear's Choice - 50th Anniversary Remaster)

The original album, newly re-mastered by GRAMMY®Award-winningengineer, David Glasser, using Plangent Processes from the original analog 2-track tapes, recorded live by Owsley “Bear” Stanley. The Grateful Dead's first true archival album, Bear's Choice, was lovingly produced as a tribute to Pigpen shortly after he passed by none other that the Dead's original soundman and benefactor, Owsley Stanley, aka Bear. Drawing from live shows recorded three years earlier by Bear at the Fillmore East in New York City, Bear's Choice captures the Dead at an essential moment of their history, as they were about to record Workingman's Dead (and shortly thereafter, American Beauty), and were transitioning into becoming Americana pioneers, while never losing touch with their psychedelic improvisational roots. Three of the eight songs on the album are sung by Pigpen, with Side 1 being the definitive example of early Acoustic Dead, and Side 2 being electric blues and rock & roll, with Pigpen leading the charge on both tracks on the second side. This has been re-mastered by David Glasser using Plangent Processes from the original analog 2-track tapes recorded live by Bear and has never sounded better.

Booker T. & The M.G.s

Green Onions - 60th Anniversary Edition

One of the most popular instrumental songs ever, “Green Onions” started out as a band jam at a demo recording session for rock’n’roll singer Billy Lee Riley with the famed Stax Records house band. Stax label head Jim Stewart liked what he heard and recorded what would become the basis for the band’s debut album. Christened Booker T. & The M.G.s, they released “Green Onions” with original members Booker T. Jones (organ, piano), Steve Cropper (guitar), Lewie Steinberg (bass), and Al Jackson Jr. (drums) in October 1962. The title track became a worldwide hit, covered by dozens of artists including the Blues Brothers, the Ventures, the Shadows, Deep Purple, Mongo Santamaria and Count Basie.

The deluxe 60th Anniversary Edition of “Green Onions” releases as a 1LP 180g vinyl in a green translucent colorway similar in hue to the vegetable it celebrates plus a 4-page insert, including band photos, Stax Records ephemera and David Ritz’s new liner notes. New Order

The Perfect Kiss - 2023 Reissue

Released in May of 1985, this astonishing track really upped the ante for New Order. Supremely melodic and with a brilliant synth refrain , this 12inch extended verion took the one off the LP and squared it! Coming in at nearly 9 minutes long this is one of New Order's greatest ever songs, and as with nearly all their remixes, this 12 inch extended verion is the  absolute one that you need!

STAFF COMMENTS

Andy says: The best ever version of one of New Order's greatest all time tracks.

B1. Kiss Of Death 7’02
B2. Perfect Pit 1’24

New Order

Sub-Culture - 2023 Reissue

Sub- Culture followed Perfect Kiss as the second single to be taken from the Low Life LP. Coming out in October of 1985 it featured a hugely reworked and quite possibly superior remix by engineer John Robie. Everything here is bigger, bolder and basically more dancefloor friendly, WITHOUT compromising the beautiful song as featured on the original.

STAFF COMMENTS

Andy says: A more aggressive take on one of the standout cuts from 1985's Low Life LP, this mix features souped up electronics and soulful backing vocals. This was massive in Manchester back in the day!

TRACK LISTING

A. Sub-culture 7’26
B. Dub-vulture 7’57

New Order

Shellshock

Shellshock was a stand alone single released in March 1986. It was more electronic than 1985's previous LP, Low Life and was actually quite a bit poppier too. Asi it turned out the song was written to be included in that summer's blockbuster teen, coming of age movie Pretty In Pink and as a result was an international hit .

TRACK LISTING

A. Shellshock 9’41
B. Shellcock 7’35

Johnny Thunders

So Alone - 45th Anniversary Edition

So Alone is the debut solo studio album by Johnny Thunders, then leader of The Heartbreakers and formerly lead guitarist for New York Dolls1LP. Formerly lead guitarist for the New York Dolls, Johnny Thunders released his debut solo studio album, So Alone in 1978. The album opens with a loud, spirited rendition of the Chantays' 1962 surf rock instrumental "Pipeline." It's followed by one of Thunders' all-time classic tracks, "You Can’t Put Your Arms Around a Memory," that was released as a single and to this day is considered by many to be his signature song. It was later covered by Giant Sand, Guns N' Roses, as well as Joey Ramone and Ronnie Spector as a duet.

New Order

Joni Mitchell

The Asylum Albums (1972-1975)

Joni Mitchell was at a turning point 50 years ago. After making four acclaimed albums with Reprise Records, including her 1971 masterpiece Blue, she left the label to join the brand-new Asylum Records in 1972. Over the next seven years, Mitchell would record some of the most acclaimed music of her career while changing her musical direction by adding more jazz elements into her song writing. The evolution culminated in 1979 with Mingus, her collaboration with jazz titan Charles Mingus, and her studio last album for Asylum.

The Asylum Albums (1972-1975), the next instalment in the Joni Mitchell archive series, explores the beginning of that prolific era. The collection features newly remastered versions of For The Roses (1972), Court And Spark (1974), the double live album Miles Of Aisles (1974), and The Hissing Of Summer Lawns (1975). All four were recently remastered by Bernie Grundman. The Asylum Albums (1972-1975 will be available on 23rd September on 5-LP 180-gram vinyl (Limited Edition Of 20,000) and as a 4CD set. The cover art for the set features a previously unseen painting by Mitchell. The set also includes an essay by friend and fellow Canadian Neil Young.

The Asylum Albums (1972-1975), follows Mitchell’s musical evolution over four albums as she embraced more jazz-inspired pieces and moved away from the folk and pop of her early years. It includes essential tracks like her first Top 40 hit, “You Turn Me On, I’m A Radio” and her highest-charting (#7) single “Help Me,” plus favourites like “Free Man In Paris,” “Raised On Robbery” and “In France They Kiss On Main Street.” Mitchell has been intimately involved in producing the collection, lending her vision and personal touch to every element.

Echo & The Bunnymen

Songs To Learn & Sing - 2022 Reissue

Echo & The Bunnymen’s first best-of compilation Songs To Learn And Sing is back on vinyl for the first time since its original release in 1985. The album is a comprehensive collection of the band’s first four albums, from their second single Rescue, to The Cutter and the anthemic The Killing Moon. It also includes Bring On The Dancing Horses, originally released in conjunction with Songs To Learn & Sing back in 1985. It arrives back on vinyl as Echo & The Bunnymen go back on tour to celebrate 40 years of magical songs throughout 2022.

ECHO & THE BUNNYMEN were formed in Liverpool in 1978 with Ian McCulloch on vocals and rhythm guitar, Will Sergeant on lead guitar and Les Pattinson on bass. They were soon joined by Pete De Freitas on drums and the rest, as they say, is history. Echo & The Bunnymen released their fourth studio album Ocean Rain in 1984, enjoying an enamouring cult status following the success of their first three albums. Ocean Rain continued the band’s use of strings, creating a dark, ethereal aura throughout the album.

It produced three singles, Silver, Seven Seas and the massive anthem The Killing Moon; a track frontman Ian McCulloch once stated, “I know there isn’t a band in the world who’s got a song anywhere near that.” It reached #9 in the UK singles chart, and continues to transcend generations to this day, routinely featuring in films and television shows such as Donnie Darko.

The album’s iconic, atmospheric cover art was taken in the stunning Carnglaze Caverns in Cornwall by photographer Brian Griffin, who shot their three previous album covers. Ocean Rain went on to reach #4 in the UK album charts, being certified gold in the process, as well as charting in the USA.

Performance (Original Motion Picture) - 2021 Reissue

Starring James Fox as a British gangster on the run who finds refuge in the home of reclusive ex-rock star Mick Jagger, Donald Cammell and Nicolas Roeg's Performance is one of the great cult movies of the 1970s. The film's soundtrack, produced by Jack Nitzsche for Warner Bros., is equally noteworthy. Needless to say, the Rolling Stones connection is strong; the Jagger-sung single "Memo From Turner" was co-written with Keith Richards, and vocalist Merry Clayton (famous as the duet partner on "Gimme Shelter") appears on three tracks. Several up-and-coming WB artists also make key contributions, including Randy Newman (the raucous "Gone Dead Train"), slide guitar virtuoso Ry Cooder and Little Feat leader Lowell George. Like the film itself, the PERFORMANCE original motion picture soundtrack offers a fascinating glimpse at one of the most exciting eras in rock.

Back in April, Rhino gave the band’s live debut a much-deserved encore with a new 3-CD/2-LP collection that features a remastered version of the original release plus more than an hour of unreleased live music recorded between 1977 and 1982.

Grateful Dead

Anthem Of The Sun

The band’s most experimental album, Anthem Of The Sun was an unprecedented mix of studio and live recordings stitched together to create a hybrid. More than fifty years later, it remains a pinnacle of psychedelic music. It also marked a departure for the band, as they began to channel their creativity into longer jams on songs like “Alligator” and “Caution (Do Not Stop On Tracks)” – two live staples of the Dead’s early days. During this period, the band included: Jerry Garcia, Bob Weir, Ron “Pigpen” McKernan, Phil Lesh, Mickey Hart, and Bill Kreutzmann. The LP features a remastered version of the 1971 mix, mastered by Grammy®-winning engineer David Glasser from the original analog master tapes.

John Prine

John Prine

John Prine’s self-titled debut album continues to sound as fresh as it did back in 1971, with Rolling Stone ranking it amongst its 500 greatest albums of all time. It includes some of Prine’s finest works such as “Sam Stone,” “Paradise,” and the famous “Angel From Montgomery.” After initially being spotted by famed singer-songwriter Kris Kristofferson, John Prine’s debut album earned him a number of admirers, including the likes of Bob Dylan. Tracks such as “Paradise” resonated with many, quickly becoming a bluegrass standard. Originally written by John for his father, the track has since been covered by a number of artists such as Johnny Cash and The Everly Brothers.

Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young

So Far

Originally released in 1974, CSNY’s first compilation album So Far highlights the group’s first two critically acclaimed and highly successful albums; Déjà Vu and Crosby, Stills & Nash. After David Crosby left The Byrds, Stephen Stills’ band Buffalo Springfield had broken up and Graham Nash had left The Hollies; the trio formed one of the first, and still to this day greatest, supergroups. Under the same CSN, they recorded the band’s debut album Crosby, Stills & Nash to real fanfare. It shot the group into superstardom, culminating in a Grammy award for Best New Artist in 1970. Previously also part of Buffalo Springfield, Neil Young joined the band as their fourth member and the result was the band’s opus, Déjà Vu; a folk-rock classic. The album is revered to this day, consistently included in best albums of all-time lists in the media. So Far includes tracks from both of these albums, as well as the highly popular non-album single Ohio, alongside its’ B-side Find The Cost Of Freedom

Prince

Sign O' The Times - Remastered

Overflowing with musical ideas and topical lyrics that sound just as relevant today as they did when they were initially released, Prince’s iconic double album Sign O’ The Times captured the artist in a period of complete reinvention. The final 16-track album included just some of the countless songs Prince recorded in the prolific period of 1985-1987, which saw the dissolution of his band The Revolution, the construction of his innovative recording complex, Paisley Park, and the creation (and ultimate abandonment) of the albums Dream Factory, Camille, and Crystal Ball.

This September 25, The Prince Estate, in partnership with Warner Records/Rhino UK, will reissue Sign O’ The Times. This limited edition 2LP peach vinyl set and 2CD set will feature the classic album remastered for the very first time by Prince’s original mastering engineer Bernie Grundman.

The Title was described by Mike Skinner as 'all about peaceful, positive vibes' and in the six years from when "Original Pirate Material" was released, The Streets and Skinner undoubtedly became the voice of a generation. Now reissued on heavyweight vinyl, it completes the series of essential Streets album reissues.

The album formed a prominent part of the band's 2018 and 2019 Greatest Hits Tour. "The Escapist", the first single from the album, become an instant classic when it originally dropped as a free download to an unexpecting audience ahead of the album release. It was the first new music from the band for over two years and has stood the test of time and is one of the most eagerly anticipated tracks of the recent live shows. Likewise, the albums other two singles, "Everything Is Borrowed" and "Heaven For the Weather", have also become a bedrocks of the tour.

Joy Division / New Order

Total: From Joy Division To New Order

Despite an incredibly short recording career Joy Division remarkably have stood the test of time in terms of influential British bands. Their dark, brooding sound has inspired more artists than could be listed and their continued adoration today is testament to the forward thinking yet inward projected music and lyricism of a young band on the brink of success yet unsure of how to deal with it. With the sad passing of Ian Curtis, from the ashes rose New Order; the same core band but with a new fresh approach to their chosen career path. Loud, colourful and full of life.

‘Total’ is a chronological look at the two bands most important tracks, covering Joy Division staples such as 'Love Will Tear Us Apart', and the resonating 'Atmosphere'. New Order bring to the table 'Blue Monday', 'Bizarre Love Triangle' and 'True Faith'. Also included is a brand new never released New Order track ‘Hellbent’.

Led Zeppelin

The Song Remains The Same

Led Zeppelin was at the peak of its powers on July 27-29 1973 when the band’s performances at New York’s Madison Square Garden were recorded for the concert film, The Song Remains The Same. The soundtrack to the film, produced by Jimmy Page, was originally released on Swan Song in 1976.

On the 4-LP set, Page made a change to the track sequence, allowing the epic, 29-minute version of “Dazed And Confused” to be featuring in its entirety on one side of vinyl for the first time.

The Sisters Of Mercy

Floodland

At the end of their US tour in June 1985 the band took a break from music, to return in November 1987 with ‘Floodland’ (UK #9). Still aided by Doktor Avalanche, Eldritch hired former Gun Club and Fur Bible bassist Patricia Morrison to complete the new line-up. Featuring the now iconic hit singles ‘This Corrosion’ (UK #7), ‘Dominion’ (UK #13) and ‘Lucretia My Reflection’ (UK #20), production duties were shared with famed Meat Loaf writer Jim Steinman.

Otis Redding

Dock Of The Bay Sessions

“Dock Of The Bay Sessions” was compiled with input from Roger Armstrong of Ace Records and Otis biographer Jonathan Gould and has the Redding family’s full endorsement. Although the individual tracks have been previously released across a smattering of posthumous albums and compilations, this marks the first time they have been assembled to resemble what this album could possibly have been.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the album’s opening track “(Sittin’ On) The Dock Of The Bay,” one of the last songs Redding ever recorded. Released in January 1968, it soon topped the charts in March 16th in the US becoming the first posthumous #1 single in the history of the U.S. music charts. It also reached number 3 in the UK, and went on to sell more than four million copies worldwide.

Grateful Dead

The Best Of The Grateful Dead Live Vol. 1: 1969-1977

The live albums the band released during its 30-year career are the primary source for the collection, including tracks like “Bertha” from Grateful Dead (Skull & Roses) (1971), “Fire On The Mountain” from Dead Set (1981), and “The Music Never Stopped” from One From the Vault (1991). A testament to its ongoing popularity, the revered double-album Europe ’72 (1972), is represented by no less than five tracks, including “Sugar Magnolia,” “Jack Straw” and a searing rendition of “Morning Dew.”

Other performances on the set were selected from the growing number of live releases that have emerged since the death of founding member Jerry Garcia in 1995. Some of those recordings include “Touch Of Grey” from Truckin’ Up To Buffalo (2005), a 1990 version of “Eyes Of The World” with saxophonist Branford Marsalis featured on Wake Up To Find Out (2014), and “Estimated Prophet,” which debuted earlier this year as part of Cornell 5/8/77, a recording of the Grateful Dead’s mythic show at Cornell University in 1977, thought by many to be the band’s greatest live performance.
