    Fred Again...

    Ten Days

Fred Again, the hottest export in UK stadium dance music returns with his MUCH anticipated new album, "Ten Days". Famously working with a wealth of contemporary collaborators; on this excursion we get Sampha, Skrillex, Emmylou Harris and many more. Mixing sensuality, emotion and tons upon tons of upfront pop sensibilities - all galvanized with an electronic, forwarding thinking production which has won him plaudits from quite literally, everyone in the music industry. Its brooding in parts, but these moments of melancholy often burst into brightness, rising the soul with their overpowering sentiment. Musically, he's untouchable (expected, due to his extensive classical background; oh and did we mention he lives next door to, and is mentored by Brian Eno). I'll tell you what though, who ever gave our posh Balham boy his first gary needs a medal. As watching him delve into the world of electronic dance music is something to behold.

It'd be lazy to compare to Four Tet, Overmono, Floating Point - as these are simply other luminaries existing on the same axis of time and in our wonderfully creative United Kingdom. You could go back further - The Chemical Brothers, Orbital, Leftfield - acts with their finger so delicately on the pulse that they traverse the immediate dance music demographic and become household names and global superstars.

Includes “Ten Days” includes single ‘Adore U’ (now platinum record with over 600K+ UK sales), "Ten' and "Places To Be".

      STAFF COMMENTS

Matt says: Like Jamie XX and Jamie Woon, Fred Again manages to marry deep emotive sentiment with unfathomably fresh production, and he does it almost effortlessly. A true musical polymath who we're privileged to be right here, right now, on his journey. We're probably at the red giant stage, with supernova and neutron star yet to come...

      Fred Again...

      Actual Life 3: January 1 - September 9 2022

Actual Life 3 (January 1 – September 9 2022) is the third in his series of Actual Life albums, which saw Fred again.. resume his diary-esque approach to production using intimate use of voice notes from friends, videos found whilst scrolling on Instagram and samples from important records in his life.

It was an autobiographical chapter of work that pushed forward the heritage of UK electronic music while standing as testament to the power of music in facilitating catharsis, healing and celebrating the realities of friendship, love and life.

        Actual Life 2 (February 2 - October 15 2021)

Fred again.. releases a repress of his critically-acclaimed album Actual Life 2 (February 2 -October 15 2021) after popular demand. As the title suggests, the album offers an insight into an 8 month period of Fred’s life, stitching together vocal clips and found sounds to create a deeply autobiographical follow-up to his breakthrough record Actual Life (April 14 -December 17 2020). The repress remains on a clear vinyl, but this time round the vinyl comes in a black inner bag.

Actual Life 2 (February 2 - October 15 2021) features his hit singles Billie (loving arms), Hannah (the sun) and Faisal (envelops me). With this body of work, we’re offered a snapshot of an artist dealing with the many complexities of grief-exploring how confiding in close friends and family have helped him heal wounds, but also acknowledging how that grief is indelibly etched into his subconscious.

          Fred Again.. & Brian Eno

          Secret Life

Ambient demigod Brian Eno and modern bass & Boiler Room poster boy Fred Again team up for a rather unexpected curve ball. It seems that Brian has taken the lead on "Secret Life", forcing the young upstart to ditch his rampant, ADHD-fueled finger drumming and inferno-causing bass-garage-house hybrids for an exercise in what his next door neighbour (true story), and mentor, specializes at - the most serene ambient music around.

It's a delicate, spacious listen; with Eno's famous use of reductive techniques allowing the most precious of elements all the room they need to sparkle - like a tiny Faberge Egg presented in a vast, grandiose, but pin-drop silent gallery. The use of silence given plenty of reverence. There's smeared vocal and string manipulations that reverberate from almost heavenly realms, and in parts, it's like the antithesis to Burials recent dystopian ambient project "Antidawn" - exploring the more optimistic territories of the Skyrim metaverse in a non-linear structure which suspends time and allows you to drift in and out of its liminal reality.

It'll sit comfortably by your side on a rain soaked day languidly pottering around the home, or set the perfect atmosphere for your next art show installation; or even serenade your new born into a dreamlike slumber. I can't help feeling its one of those albums that'll be really affected by the environment in which it is aired. Like much of Eno's work, it's a subtle listen that I'm convinced will reward the deeper and more attentive listeners.

Produced by Brian Eno and Fred Gibson (aka Fred Again) 4th April 2020 - 23rd December 2022

            STAFF COMMENTS

Barry says: Everyone loves a bit of Eno, right? This collaboration sees Fred Again's chopped-up synthpop / alt r&b hybrid given the Eno treatment and sloooowed into a beautiful, restorative slice of stargazing ambient. A great collaborative endeavour, with more than a little classic Eno.
