The Dark Esquire is Dumbwaiters’ BCR’s new solo project. BCR is currently working at home and in the studio on The Dark Esquire's Thisisnotanexit full-length debut with collaborator and former Dumbwaiters multi-instrumentalist James Bess lending a hand with co-production. "Situation" is an 80s influenced indie-electro / electro-dance epic, driving along with enough builds and drops to keep the dancefloor happy. On the remix tip Crimea X (DJ Rocca of Ajello / Maffia Sound System, and Jukka Reverberi from Giardini di Mirò) take the track on more of a disco journey with a change to syncopated rhythm and a touch of Balearic keys. Going the Balearic whole-hog, twisting "Situation" into some sort of 80s beach ballad is CFCF, aka cult Canadian remixer and re-editer Mike Silver (check his Health, Crystal Castles, Sally Shapiro, The Presets, Fan Death, The Teenagers and Kool Keith mixes). DJ support comes from Mighty Mouse, Andy Whittaker (2020 Vision), Ben Pistor and Damon Martin (Disco Bloodbath), Alex Egan (Skulljuice), Cosmo Vitelli, Max Pask, James Holden and more.
