If the news is true that Aeroplane duo Stephen Fasano and Vito Deluca have really parted ways, then "We Can't Fly" seems a fitting way to bow out. Always a cut above those other cosmic / Balearic producers who either just re-edited other people's records, or came up with I'd-rather-watch-paint-dry wishy washy mush (no vocals! No tune!), Aeroplane pretty much always came up with the goods, whether it was the inspired idea of getting Au Revoir Simone to sing on their epic Friendly Fires refix or turning Grace Jones "Williams Blood" into an end of night anthem. On "We Can't Fly" they pilfer ideas from Grace Jones Compass Point era reggae-disco sound, creating what surely will be THE summer Balearic anthem. Just wait for the a) soaring female vocal harmony chorus, and b) the huge piano breakdown. Wow!
