ABOUT THIS ITEM
After their debut 12" sold out in a matter of days, the mysterious Skylevel are back with another helping of re-edited disco / jazz-funk sounds. "Black Is The Dub", re-edited by Rush Hour's Nebraska, is a thrilling jazz-funk onslaught that hits you hard right from the beginning. An energetic up-tempo groove meets the most wicked guitar patterns, teasing with beautiful melody fragments while clearly focusing on its irresistible rhythm section. No jazz on B1, but "Cousins For Hire" is an uncompromising bare-bone funk stomper of the highest order that locks you in a cell made of drums and bass holding the promise that you won't find 'disco' within a five mile radius. Lastly "Missus Hudu" obviously has to reduce the heat and takes you on a ride through the swampy Mississippi Delta of the early seventies, telling you a truly mystic Sunflower County story. Both these cuts get the Skylevel edit treatment.
