REEL-2-REEL

After reveling in anonymity for volume 1 (albeit with a few clues), we can now reveal that Tony Loveless is infact the alias of K'Alexi! Who'da thunk it?!
The esteemed Chicagoan returns with volume 2 of his reel-2-reel edits - executed in that classic tradition that stretches from Jamal Moss and Greg Wilson to Ron Hardy. Source material is painfully obscure so please - answers on a postcard / DM if you know the originals!

"These Things Happen" pairs soulful female vox to a bucking classic house riddim, chugging with round bass, simple piano licks and overactive woodblocks. It's a gloriously long arrangement, tailor made to get the club burning hot with its diva vox certainly igniting the interest of any queer crowd.

"If You Want Me To Stay" employs some really tasty tape saturation a la the Members Only series and again, utilizes source material completely unknown to me. It's a fizzy slice of stripped back disco, with bass and drums leading the charge as a fun and funky female vox, rising brass and light keys dress the track in buckets of late night glitz.

"R U Lonely" is a wild, barn stomping edits that is the most Jamal Moss-esque outta these three edits. Tough on the mid range, looping up a whole plethora of hooks and driving the vocals well into the red. An absolute head melter that sounds like its been ripped straight outta the Muzic Box cira '89.

Highly recommended!

STAFF COMMENTS

Matt says: Tony Loveless chucks out some barn stomping, buck wild edits that remind me of Jamal Moss' "Worst Edits" series. He's defo been drinking outta Ron Hardy's acid punch whichever way you look at it.
