The Fine Art Of Self Destruction - 20th Anniversary Edition

“Malin writes vivid songs with killer tunes and sings them with scary conviction… There is simply nothing more you can demand from a great rock record.” - The Times (★★★★★).

Released in 2003, Jesse Malin’s acclaimed debut ‘The Fine Art of Self Destruction’ “wasn’t named for drug or alcohol abuse,” says Malin. “It was more about a personal wreckage when I looked back on my life, from my parents’ divorce to failed relationships, broken up bands, dropping out of school, crashing cars, breaking things. It was more of a spiritual journey in some sense. This record is definitely one of my favorites.”

To celebrate the album’s 20th Anniversary, ‘The Fine Art of Self Destruction’ is reissued and paired with a bonus disc of alternative versions, reimagined and re-recorded with Malin’s longtime band.

The bonus album was produced by Derek Cruz and engineered by Geoff Sanoff, who worked on Jesse’s recent albums ‘Sunset Kids’ and ‘Sad and Beautiful World’.

    Jesse Tabish

    Cowboy Ballads Part I

The frontman and creative lynchpin of Oklahoma’s finest, Other Lives, described by MOJO magazine as “the next must have American pastoral sensation,” Jesse and his chief collaborator Kim Tabish used their time during lockdown to fashion a glorious record, as epic as it is intimate, distinguished by the same sweeping, cinematic arrangements and haunting, wistful melodies that typify the band’s catalogue, but with a rawer edge that reflects its’ home made origins.

“The album isn’t necessarily ‘western’ sounding; it’s more that, if I name something immediately, it sticks for me, so the album title stayed Cowboy Ballads.” The album’s ballads are represented by ‘New Love’, ‘Price In Full’, ‘Rituals II’ and the instrumentals ‘Italia Nite I’ and ‘Dread Harp Blues’, simmering episodes fit for a cowboy as he rides off into the sunset though few cowboys post the existential thoughts that Jesse does here.

      Nick Cave & Warren Ellis

The Assassination Of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford (OST)

BMG are set to release an exclusive version of the acclaimed soundtrack “THE ASSASSINATION OF JESSE JAMES BY THE COWARD ROBERT FORD” available on vinyl for the very first time.

Re-mastered and available on limited edition whiskey coloured vinyl with a gatefold sleeve.

Nick Cave and Warren Ellis, of the internationally celebrated bands Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds, The Dirty Three and Grinderman, have composed, played and produced a compelling and intense soundtrack for director Andrew Dominik's savage tale of the true West. The new score captures perfectly the charismatic and unpredictable nature of its central protagonist. Like the film, Cave and Ellis' music cuts through the mythic figure of Jesse James to reveal the complex, contradictory man beneath. Daring and passionately delivered, Cave and Ellis' beautiful soundtrack retains its captivating power even without the benefit of Dominik's images

        Various Artists

        FabricliveE 85 - Jesse Rose

As the owner of two record labels; A-Sided and Play It Down, and a highly regarded international DJ, Jesse Rose is a familiar name, even for those who reside outside of dance music circles. Indeed, having produced for the likes of Hot Chip, mentored artists like Christian Nielsen and Oliver $, and with collaborations with names such as Henrik Schwarz and Claude VonStroke under his belt, Jesse is more than just a DJ/producer, he’s a tastemaker, businessman and a bonafide legend of house music.

West London-born, Jesse started DJing in Bristol in the early ‘90s before moving back to London. A run of collaborations with Switch on his Dubsided label soon followed, leading to releases on Derrick Carter’s Classic and Rose’s own imprints, with Jesse forging a reputation for mixing sounds from other genres in his own unique productions. Since then he has produced over 100 tracks on labels including Get Physical, Junior Boys Own and Simple, and recorded over 100 remixes for the likes of Masters At Work, Armand Van Helden, Kevin Saunderson, Underworld and Childish Gambino.

Upon completing a 6 year residency at Panorama Bar, Jesse moved from Berlin to Los Angeles some years ago, and he now lives between two cities – Barcelona and LA – when not on tour around the world. He has worked on many collaborative projects throughout the years with artists including the aforementioned Henrik Schwarz, as Black Rose, Ninja Tune’s Seven Davis Jr. and Leon Ware, a former producer of Marvin Gaye. He is currently working on a new project called STAYGOLD with New York house don Junior Sanchez, with their first productions being remixes for Cassius and Mathias Kaden. With all of this under his belt, plus a relationship with fabric stretching to the early days of the club, the time was right for Jesse to step up to the FABRICLIVE mantle, and he more than delivers.
"I was in the middle of a six month tour of the world when I was asked to do the mix, so I was constantly finding decks in the middle of the night in these far-flung locations, to have a mix and make sure it had the right feel. I actually ended up mixing the compilation in New Jersey, Los Angeles and Sydney. Although I mixed it in three parts which I later stitched together, it was mixed live as I wanted it to represent how I would play in the club, to sound personal to what I do and not computerised." Jesse Rose
Ed Weathers’ cheeky ‘Love The Feeling High’ acapella heralds in prime cuts from Mannheim man Johnny D, ‘90s house icons Urban Soul (with Gerd on the remix), Chicago stalwart Gene Farris and more, sitting alongside the best of Play It Down and A-SIDED from the likes of Berlin producer Sqim, rising Danish talent Christian Nielsen and of course Jesse himself, who gifts an exclusive Dub version of his own ‘Touch ‘N’ Tease’ plus the glorious, hands in the air ‘It’s Not Over’ featuring Seven Davis Jr., included here as a ‘synthapella’. The 12” mix of Steve Silk Hurley’s effortlessly rousing ‘The Word Is Love’ ends proceedings on the same high we started with, a reminder that Jesse Rose – a true house music pioneer – is also one of the best selectors in the game.

          Jesse Sparhawk / Eric Carbonara

          Tributes & Diatribes

Tributes & Diatribes is the lovely second set of tracks from the entirely unusual duo of Jesse Sparhawk (38-string lever harp) and Eric Carbonara (22-string upright Chaturangui guitar, banjo, nylon string guitar). The four tracks here are restrained and unhurried, letting the elegant string flow breathe and build over each cut. Like on their debut Sixty Strings (also on VHF), there’s plenty of virtuosity, but it’s not showy and crass. These guys are more mood-builders (deep, cosmic, meditative) than doodlers. Even though Tributes & Diatribes is immediately graspable by those of us who like “our kind” of music, it really doesn’t sound like anyone else - a rare achievement. Along with the main dialogue between the two players, the arrangements are filled out with percussion by Peterson Goodwyn, giving some of the tracks an overt groove that cuts against the spiraling string notes. Beautiful.

          Gentleman Jesse Smith

You've Got The Wrong Man / Stubborn Ghost

Atlanta's favourite son, Gentleman Jesse Smith is back in a big way after he turned the modern pop world upside down with 2008's debut single and LP that immediately raised the bar for contemporary power pop recordings. We've been waiting for this release since 2007 and it's finally here. This year has seen Gentleman Jesse & His Men touring like crazy with a new single on Douchemaster along with this one right here, ushering in the second wind we've all been waiting for from this much-adored pop pioneer. This songwriting well isn't even close to running dry, and if the two tracks contained on this new single are any indication of the follow-up LP's magnitude, it may just be time to roll over and declare Jesse the modern 'King of Pop,' as we all know Michael fucking Jackson sure isn't holding onto it anymore. First pressing 500 black editions.

              Jesse James

              Shoes

Nu skool skacore band, Jesse James have recently received rave live reviews from Metal Hammer and Big Cheese for their appearance at the sold out 'Smash It Up' UK punk show recently held in London. They have released this little five track introducing their brand of exciting skacore.
