London four piece Bastille return with their long-awaited second album ‘Wild World’, following their worldwide number 1, multi-platinum debut album ‘Bad Blood’ which spawned the humungous chart and radio hit singles ‘Pompeii’, ‘Things We Lost In The Fire’ and ‘Of The Night’. Bastille toured the world many times over in support of ‘Bad Blood’ writing and recording ‘Wild World’ along the way. Wild World retains the vivid, rich, filmic song-writing of its predecessor but pushes the band’s distinctive sound in exciting new directions.

KT Tunstall returns with an explosive 11 track collection of songs on her fifth record ‘KIN’. A year later and ‘KIN’ was born. Produced by Tony Hoffer (Beck, Belle and Sebastien), and written and recorded by KT in LA, it exemplifies the very best of guitar pop. The album’s new focused sound is best heard on current single ‘Evil Eye’; a stripped back, primal rock ‘n’ roll track that seeded the whole record. The diverse collection also includes a duet with fan James Bay, the raucous rebellion of ‘It Took Me So Long To Get Here, But Here I Am’, the shimmering pop of new single ‘Maybe It’s A Good Thing’ and ‘Run On Home’, the call to arms of ‘Hard Girls’, and the beautiful album closer ‘Love Is An Ocean’.

Trick arrives after a gap of less than two years shot through with the kind of vigour and vibrancy that can only come from a man who’s rediscovered his love of writing, recording and performing. Spearheaded by lead single ‘Tinfoil Boy’, the track was Annie Mac’s Hottest Record and has since been added to Radio 1, 6 Music and Radio X. Recorded in London and Detroit, Michigan, Trick features co-production and all instruments played by Jamie and long-time creative partner James Dring and is the kind of brave and eclectic rock/punk/reggae/rap/pop celebration that only Jamie T could make.

Inspired by claustrophobic London Summers, the album is a proud, punchy summing-up of all Jamie’s unique signatures – Clash-like anthems, youthful reminiscence, high-speed raps, earworm choruses and snarky humour. It follows the triumphant success of 2014’s comeback album Carry On The Grudge.

Matt and Kim, aka Matt Johnson (vocals/keyboards) and Kim Schifino (drums), get things rolling in their exuberant style with a performance lyric video for the song “Get It”: Three minutes and seven seconds of heaven for anyone who has, or hasn’t yet, seen Matt and Kim’s legendary live shows.

Previously, Matt and Kim’s video for “Lessons Learned,” in which they strip naked in Times Square on a very cold February day, won an MTV Music Award for “Breakthrough Video” in 2009. 2012’s Lightning (FADER) featured the Alternative radio hit “Let’s Go” and single “Daylight” was certified Gold in the US and very close to platinum certification. All the while they toured the globe, becoming the go-to band for raw exuberance, bombastic beats, sing-along refrains and dance-ready anthems on larger and larger scales.

JACK WHITE, JEFF TWEEDY, FUN., JARVIS COCKER, JACK BLACK, AND A HOST OF OTHERS JOIN BECK TO BRING ACCLAIMED SHEET MUSIC-ONLY ALBUM TO LIFE

The now legendary Beck, Song Reader - twenty Beck compositions previously released exclusively as stunningly illustrated sheet music in partnership with McSweeney’s - receives a long awaited traditional release when Warby Parker/Capitol Records issues the Beck Song Reader compilation album, produced by Beck and Randall Poster, known for his music supervision work with directors Wes Anderson, Martin Scorsese, Sam Mendes and many others. Warby Parker will commemorate the release of Song Reader by reissuing limited-edition Carmichael frames created in collaboration with Beck, this time in Black Cherry—as well as a new edition of the Song Reader book, featuring two new prints from artist Marcel Dzama.

The 20-track all-star collection features exclusively recorded versions of Song Reader charts by the likes of Jack White, Jeff Tweedy, David Johansen, Jason Isbell, Fun., Eleanor Friedberger, and several more including Beck himself.

The Warby Parker release of Beck Song Reader marks the first officially recorded incarnation of the project, which has already inspired interpretations from hundreds of musicians the world over. The record includes the studio-quality debut of songs previously only played live either by Beck himself or at one of the handful of Song Reader concerts staged over the last two years. The most recent of these was presented by the L.A. Philharmonic in partnership with McSweeney’s and Warby Parker at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles on November 24, 2013. Described by The Los Angeles Times as an “expertly delivered and received night… another big step in Beck's long, fascinating evolution,” the show’s highlights included Jarvis Cocker’s interpretively danced “Why Did You Make Me Care?" and Jack Black’s borderline frightening “We All Wear Cloaks,” the latter of which makes its recorded debut on the Beck Song Reader album.

Gang Of Four

Entertainment!

Some of the most memorable music of the late-70s British new wave era came courtesy of Gang Of Four. Formed in Leeds in 1977 the band were one of the first to be inspired by punk, but come up with a something different from the usual three-chord thrash of the time. The band's 1979 debut album, "Entertainment!", poured punk, funk, and politics into a groundbreaking sound that continues to influence such worthy modern rock descendants as Hot Hot Heat, The Rapture, and !!!. Essential.

            The Wall - Vinyl Edition

One of the most acclaimed concept albums of all time, The Wall from 1979 is renowned as Roger Waters’  masterpiece dealing with abandonment and personal isolation. Adapted for cinema by Alan Parker featuring Bob Geldof in the lead role, and featuring the unique artwork of Gerald Scarfe the album also yielded the hit single Another Brick In The Wall Pt2.

            STAFF COMMENTS

Andy says: Double album/concept album etc, etc. What never gets written about this amazing LP is that unlike its more indulgent, long-songs predecessors, this is a record crammed full of concise, melodic ditties! Classic song after classic song. Incredible.

              Cubilas

              Welcome To The Overground

For some unknown reason EMI don't want us to tell you who this song is by, but there are enough clues in the release for you to work who it is yourself: 1) The track is taken from his new album. 2) The name Cubilas comes from his track "My Friend Cubilas". 3) The songwriting is credited to a certain Mr Gough. 4) The sleeve has a picture of his two children on the front. 6) He's from Bolton (and he's not Peter Kay). Have you guessed yet?

                Brian Eno And David Byrne

My Life In The Bush Of Ghosts

Originally released in 1981, this critically lauded album was the one of the first major label releases to heavily incorporate sample-heavy 'found sounds' and global beats. Lebanese mountain singers, preachers, exorcism ceremonies, Muslim chanting, Egyptian pop and radio talk shows all make an appearance, spread over hypnotic percussive rhythms and layered instrumentation.

Overseen personally by Brian Eno and David Byrne, this new version has been remastered by Greg Calbi at Sterling Sound (Interpol / Kings Of Leon) and features seven previously unreleased bonus tracks of out-takes and ideas from the album's original sessions from 1979 and 1980. The enhanced CD also includes Bruce Conner's film to "Mea Culpa". The packaging differs from all previous Eno reissues – a jewel case within a slipcase, plus very special added extras. The slipcase and artwork have been designed by Peter Buchanan Smith, and 28 pages of sleevenotes have been provided by David Toop and David Byrne.

                  Brian Eno

                  Ambient 1: Music For Airports

In 1978, Brian Eno released Ambient 1: Music for Airports, a landmark album in ambient and electronic music. Although it wasn’t the first ambient album, it was the first album to be explicitly labelled as ‘ambient music’. Music for Airports was a continuation of Brian Eno’s experimentation with the tape machine as a compositional tool, a process he’d begun three years prior with 1975’s Discreet Music. It also saw Eno’s further exploration of generative, systems-created music, whereby Eno would focus on creating a system that would generate ambient music, something he continues to explore in the modern age with his range of iOS apps.
