Through The Crack In The Wall : The Secret History Of Josef K

Everything was just so intense. There was an alienation and awkwardness about Josef K, but that was actually very true to life for me. Listening today I find really difficult because it brings back so many memories, so many ghosts and characters from the past.

-- Paul Haig. A lot of what Josef K were about was as much to do with what not to play as what to play. Josef K could never have anything rootsy, no blues scale.

We were always looking for the modern. -- Malcolm Ross. Josef K are the great lost post-punk band.

Taking their name from the haunted protagonist of Franz Kafka s existentialist novel The Trial, they posed for photographs before brutalist and gothic architecture and produced visionary, often incendiary music that felt like the product of perpetual anxiety. And it really was. Through The Crack In The Wall is the first ever biography of the band, tracing their story from their origins in the leafy suburbs of Edinburgh through to their untimely implosion four years later.

It s a tale of fun and frenzy, filled with highs and lows. From their thrilling live shows, which left onlookers spellbound, to more anxious occasions confronting a baying audience of rioting anarcho-punks in Brussels; from a brief spell as press darlings of the inkies to the fateful decision to pull their debut album just as pop stardom beckoned -- one that continues to haunt them today. Drawing extensively on new interviews with the band members and those around them as well as contemporary press articles, the book explores the band s inner workings and analyses their relationships with Postcard Records supremo Alan Horne, labelmates Orange Juice, and manager Allan Campbell.

It re-evaluates their position in the pantheon of post-punk greats and considers how their music helped shape the UK independent scene of the eighties. More than anything else, though, the book s primary purpose is to celebrate the incredible music Josef K made and consider what makes it more vital today than ever.

    Royksopp

The Inevitable End - 2024 Repress

An essential 2024 purple vinyl repress of 'The Inevitable End', Royksopp's second album release in the space of 6 months, following the critically acclaimed mini album 'Do It Again' with fellow Scandinavian legend Robyn. 'The Inevitable End' is their most personal album to date and features Jamie McDermott (The Irrepressibles), Ryan James (Man Without Country), Norwegian singer songwriter Susanne Sundfor and Robyn. Having now created five complete bodies of work, the pair feel like the future is open to being more experimental with how they share their music.

Opening track 'Skulls' feels like classic Royksopp - all squelchy bass lines, filtered synths and vocodered, yet soulful vocals - the album also takes in sophisticated, delicate heartbreak on the Man Without Country collaboration 'Sordid Affair'; odd, shape-shifting ambience on the Robyn-featuring 'Rong'; bouncing electro pop on the deceptively upbeat 'Save Me' and the deliriously sad, cry-on-the-dance floor classic, 'I Had This Thing'.

      The Smile

      Wall Of Eyes

Following on from 2022 debut LP 'A Light For Attracting Attention', which garnered a top 20 spot in our 2022 end of year review, 'Wall Of Eyes' sees Thom Yorke, Jonny Greenwood and Tom Skinner once again coming together for another art-rock opus that is inventive and boundry-pushing; whilst still remaining incredibly accessible and potent at it's core. With string arrangements by the London Contemporary Orchestra, 'Wall Of Eyes' comfortably shrugs off the burden of being "just another Radiohead side-project" and in the process leaves us hoping there's more from The Smile for years to come.

        STAFF COMMENTS

Barry says: Though it's easy to compare The Smile to Radiohead (for obvious reasons), and there is a similarity to the sound that Yorke & Greenwood bring, the end result ends up quite drastically different. The Smile are a lot less rooted in rock music, ending up presenting something that's both beautifully organic and free-flowing whilst never straying too far into experimental territories. Lovely stuff.

        John Francis Flynn

Look Over The Wall, See The Sky

On his new album, Look Over The Wall, See The Sky, John Francis Flynn delicately unpicks traditional songs and rearranges them with an emotional force that sometimes leaves them unanchored, foating in a surreal space between the past and the present, the analogue and the digital, between love and tragedy.

In his frst single, Mole In The Ground, a cover of an American anti-establishment folk song recorded by Bascom Lamar Lunsford in 1928, John allows the surrealism of the song to take centre stage, opting to speak rather than sing the words. His voice, too, lives beneath the ground of the melody, burrowing its way beneath hypnotic drums, dancing guitars, and sliding violins. By taking away the nursery rhyme-like melody of the song, we focus on our narrators' fantasies and desires, but also on "the weirdness of the song, and its aggressiveness. The last line is: I don't like the railroad man/ the railroad man will kill you when he can/ and he'll drink up your blood like red wine, and I wanted to get to grips with that emotion."

          Steven Wilson & Mick Wall

          Limited Edition Of One

The more I thought about it, the more I realised my career has been unusual. How did I manage to do everything wrong but still end up on the front cover of magazines, headlining world tours and achieving Top 5 albums? How did I attract such obsessive and fanatical fans, many of whom take everything I do or say very personally, which is simultaneously flattering but can also be tremendously frustrating? Even this I somehow cultivated without somehow meaning to. My accidental career.

Limited Edition of One is unlike any other music book you will ever have read. Part the long-awaited memoir of Steven Wilson: whose celebrated band Porcupine Tree began as teenage fiction before unintentionally evolving into a reality that encompassed Grammy-nominated records and sold-out shows around the world, before he set out for an even more successful solo career. Part the story of a twenty-first century artist who achieved chart-topping mainstream success without ever becoming part of the mainstream.

From Abba to Stockhausen, via a collection of conversations and thought pieces on the art of listening, the rules of collaboration, lists of lists, personal stories, professional adventurism (including food, film, TV, modern art), old school rock stardom, how to negotiate an obsessive fanbase and survive on social media, and dream-fever storytelling.

Following an unforgettable and era defining “Summer of Jungle” that saw Nia Archives playing all over the world from All Points East to Glastonbury, Los Angeles to New York, Rio De Janeiro to Australia, this rising star continues to command the unwavering attention of the UK scene with her first solo single since the breakout EP Forbidden Feelingz, “Baianá”. Most recently off the back of her record breaking debut Boiler Room, she continues to reframe the jungle narrative on “So Tell Me...”, a warm and utterly timeless jungle roller that speaks volumes on Nia’s incredible talent not only as a producer but as a vocalist and songwriter. An artist on the rise and poised to soon be one of the world’s most recognisable names, in the last year alone, Nia has won a MOBO award for ‘Best Electronic/Dance Act’, the NME Award for ‘Best Producer’, been hotly tipped by BBC Radio 1 Dance as a ‘Future Star’ and Spotify as their ‘Our Generation’ cover star. With additional accolades such as #3 in the BBC Sound of 2023 Poll and a Brit nomination for the ‘Rising Star award’. Alongside her cover debut on one of the world’s most prestigious dance music publications, Mixmag, Nia Archives has been given the seal of approval from tastemakers across the board from British Vogue, Pitchfork, The Fader, i-D and CRACK.

Sunrise Bang Ur Head Against The Wall is that feeling when you’ve been at a afters and you’re in someone’s kitchen, all these thoughts running through your head, the sun comes up and it’s the most disgusting feeling ever with an element of bliss at the same time, all you wanna do is bang your head against the wall and teleport home.

Across the EP Nia is broadly talking about growing up as a person, reaching new levels of maturity, love and loss, rejection, estrangement, the come up and the come down. Nia says that “It’s the most exciting project I’ve made yet and It’s window into the future and the kind of artist I want to become. It’s six tracks with six different moods soundtracking the recent chapter in my life.”

              Matt Wilde

              Every Story / Pivot

Band on the Wall Recordings unveil its fourth release from The Singles Club, their 7" series supporting a selection of Manchester most exciting rising artists.

Following support from the likes of Jamie Cullum (BBCR2), Jazz FM & more, Manchester keyboardist, composer and producer Matt Wilde steps up with his debut physical release, having spent much of his early years laying the foundations of his musical development through workshops at Band on the Wall.

A truly feel-good slice of musical goodness centred around Matt's lyrical, virtuosic and jazz-leaning keys, 'Every Story / Pivot' delivers wondrous blends of hip-hop and jazz elements.

                STAFF COMMENTS

Millie says: More goodies from Band on the Wall label as they bring the fourth instalment in the series of Manchester artists, Matt Wilde provides the most easy going jazz I've heard in a while, it's laid back, harmonious and uplifting. I can't recommend this enough, go go go n listen right now.

                Lovescene

Suits You / Overnight (Dancefloor Mix)

Finding each other amidst the more soulful side of the Manchester club scene, Lovescene can do it all. Able to both go big – as show-stopping early performances at Manchester International Festival and We Out Here Festival proved – and revel in the heady after-hours of the likes of Salford underground hub The White Hotel, new Band on the Wall-released 7” is a devastating encapsulation of the collective’s multiple personalities.

Suits You/Overnight (Dancefloor Mix) comes out hot on the announcement of the group’s debut album out in the Spring and is an irresistibly rich mix of velvet RnB, groove-laden soul and driving floor filler. The group deliver both in widescreen opulence, a direct link to their name which comes from band leader and vocalist Pop Roberts’ love of cinema.

“Good song writing should affect the viewer/listener in the same way a classic scene in a film should - the details in tone, wording and the emotion of the performance are everything” she says. “We’ll always strive to capture that in our music.”

Suits You adds to the canon of RnB torch ballads in its lament over unrequited love. It sees Roberts’ vocal soar high over gently rolling percussion, murmuring low-end and comparatively bolder guitars and keys that pull the track between hushed sadness to more heart-rending grief.

Flip side Overnight (Dancefloor Mix) sees Dub Phizix pop up with a guest engineer spot as the hook from the group’s original 2020 tune turns into a sultry, house-inflected party starter. “I played it at a few parties and the response was so good it just made sense to give it over to the dancefloors!” Roberts says. “We were even more pleased that Dub Phizix was up for mix engineering it - he's the king of beats and we respect his exceptional ears and advice.”

The split is the third release on the Band on the Wall 7” series, and a tantalisingly glimpse of one of Manchester’s most exciting new groups.

Band on the Wall's latest 7" release is from producer, musician & DJ Contours. Known for applying his own percussive dexterity, his sound is placed within the intersection of House, Jazz, Broken-Beat and percussive experimentation. Double A-side 'The Programme / Conga Quinto (Dub)' is the latest in an ongoing sonic evolution for Contours, having released music on labels including Rhythm Section, Tru-Thoughts, Anma Records, in turn receiving praise from the likes of Gilles Peterson, Mr Scruff, Alex Nut and Bradley Zero.

The Programme is a woozy mix of sunset synths, squelchy bass, crisp propulsive hi-hats and snare-led rhythms. The sound has a depth you can sink into, yet the skittering beats add levity and a club-leaning energy to the track. Conga Quinto (Dub) shares a similarly twilight plane. This time it draws on the Latin aspect of Contours' influences, with the titular congos offering a loose, earthy foundation into which Burford inserts the track's jutting melodies and sharp interjections of sound.

                  STAFF COMMENTS

Millie says: Just what we needed in the shop, Contours hazy deep-house beats with jazz intertwined is refreshingly new. We are loving Band On the Walls releases from the series The Singles Club. Hot stuff.

Band on the Wall Recordings is excited to present the first release from The Singles Club; a body of new work for 2021 that celebrates the artistic practice and far-reaching talents of one of its favourite artists and one of the hardest working musicians to grace the Band on the Wall stage.

Second year participant of Gilles Peterson’s Future Bubblers scheme and rising vocal talent, Mali Hayes is a jazzy-nu-R&B type neo soul artist, who has received personal endorsements from the likes of Jamz Supernova, Gilles Peterson & Jamie Cullum.

“A really great new British female vocalist from Manchester… She's got a real un-flashy kind of approach which I really like. Kind of a milder Jill Scott / Erykah Badu, definitely one to watch. We'll be hearing a lot more from her I'm sure!” – Jamie Cullum, BBC Radio 2

"I was fortunate enough to play demo's on my shows here at the BBC by Amy Winehouse, Lily Allen, Erykah Badu and Jill Scott. All premiers. And this is another one I think I'm gonna be proud of in a few years. Remember the name, Mali Hayes” – Gilles Peterson

A rising star in a flourishing Manchester music scene, jazzy-nu-R&B type neo soul artist Mali Hayes steps in a new direction for The Singles Club. Calling on past sounds, she breathes new life into previous work, combining vibrant real-life stories with honesty and soul, resulting in a release that is refreshing, infectious and dynamic. The lead track ‘Forgive You’ is a collaboration with fellow Future Bubblers participants, Medikul & Cult Architect.

Millie says: Two stunning tracks from Mali Hayes fresh off the new Band on the Wall Recordings label, if this is a sample of what’s to come then we’re in for a treat. Soulful hazy-jazz which is good for the soul, mind and body.

2020 features music from some of our favourite artists and closest friends on the new Manchester scene. The Covid-19 pandemic has placed a colossal strain on the music industry. 2020 has been created with a vision of providing financial support for Manchester artists and Band on the Wall, with all proceeds split 50/50.

Featuring hand-picked tracks, contributed by artists whose music spans neo soul, jazz, afro-electronic and more, 2020 is an eclectic discovery of inspired and curated sounds; a shining light on the emerging talent of Manchester’s live music scene.

"Band on the Wall is more than just a building, it is an idea and a passion for great music that is born from the diverse communities of Manchester and beyond; and an organisation designed to celebrate those who make music for the sake of making music rather than money or celebrity. In the first half of 2020 we, and many of the creators we work with, had to stop what we were doing and while activity initially stalled, it was clear that it would be impossible for the artists to stop creating and for us to stop celebrating their music. Therefore, the idea was born to help support our local creative partners and ourselves by producing this ‘memento’ of this incredibly strange year.

Encapsulating this music on this disk reminiscent of this time, produced this year by young people who couldn’t stop making music if they tried, and despite not being allowed to perform in public, is our way of still saying thank you to them, and that we are all still here. Thanks for supporting." Gavin Sharp, CEO, Band on the Wall

                  Behind The Wall

Equally at home on and off the dancefloor, it’s wave-kissed dreariness dripping with cold sensuality is both vibrant and brooding. Showcasing her unique sound in the saturated world of electronica, Touch successfully draws from electropop and disco influences, combining 80’s vintage synths with industrial soundscapes, delivered with a visceral post-punk snarl. Introduced to 80’s pop and new wave via her father’s extensive collection of Human League, Karat and Duran Duran, she honed her trademark sound with the likes of The KLF, Karen O and PJ Harvey motivating her early productions. The results led to releases on Catz ‘N Dogz’ Pets Recordings and Lunatic Records, as well as making regular appearances on Riotvan, the Leipzig-based record label run by Peter Invasion and co-owned by Panthera Krause. ‘Behind the Wall’ opens with the dark and powerful ‘Imaginary Boys,’ a soundtrack to Touch’s long journey through the city to the studio each day. It is followed by ‘Attic,’ which she describes as the “driving point of the whole album.” It’s an invitation to dance with me, a lullaby, a consolation,” she says. “Like a mantra.” And that is exactly what this record feels like.

                    Wall Matthews

                    Spine River:The Guitar Music Of… 1967-1981

Guitarist Wall Matthews is surviving member of experimental 70's collective, Entourage. Sampled by Four Tet, their name whispered in reverence through the decades, Entourage forged bold musical ideas on their two rare ’70s Folkways LPs. Tompkins Square released 'Ceremony of Dreams : Studio Sessions and Outtakes, 1972-1977', in 2017 to wide acclaim. 'Spine River : The Guitar Music of Wall Matthews, 1967-1981' is a collection of unreleased or obscure music by the master guitarist. This volume will be released as a limited edition LP, along with four other digital volumes of Wall's music, chronologically mapping his career. Praise for Entourage : "A three-hour stream of instrumental riches, whether you’re looking to find samples or get lost in a trance....

These 30 tracks alternately conjure the ecstatic minimalism of John Cale and La Monte Young, the billowing clouds of Arvo Part, the aleatory intrigue of Derek Bailey, and the strange guitar beauty of Sandy Bull" – Pitchfork "As seriously as they clearly took their playing, the music never lost its sense of playfulness and joy" - PASTE (8.7/10) "This is essential and irresistible vintage American weirdness." - All Music Guide (4.5) "...it's transporting stuff." - Rolling Stone "Erring between Alice Coltrane-esque spiritual jazz, Steve Reich’s minimalism and stunning instrumental folk, Ceremony of Dreams highlights 30 tracks from a fiercely creative period between 1972 and 1977 that did not appear on the two Folkways albums released at the time." - Vinyl Factory "New age gongs, drones, sax, pastoral guitar, scraped violas … Think Third Ear Band's druid rock meets early Popol Vuh with the obvious chops of a less slick Weather Report" - Record Collector (4 stars)

                      Chemistry Lane

                      Mirrored Wall / El Acusador

Chemistry Lane debuting on cult label Mai 68 (formed by the band of same name...).

"Mirrored Wall" exudes the kinda funky, electronic disco that Phenominal Hand Clap Band, Gramme and Crazy P all count as their bread and butter. The vocals in this instance are much more yearning, leaning themselves to a nocturnal indie-dancefloor swaying with youthful abandon.

"El Acusador" on the flip combines alluring, eastern scales, tight n funky live drums and plenty of analogue swells and SFX. It's picturesque, evocative and immits a kind of rigid, urban futurism that bands like Interpol and more recently Drahla both do. I like it!

                      TRACK LISTING

                      A. Mirrored Wall
                      B. El Acusador

Thoma Bulwer returns with "Jandaze", his latest EP on Parasol Culture featuring long-time partner in crime Anna Wall. It follows Parasol 001, their first joint vinyl release, that sold out on the shelves gaining support from the likes of Mood II Swing and Cab Drivers plus on the airwaves via NTS. Their "Jandaze" EP has already been doing the rounds on the DJ circuit in Hackney Wick and beyond.

"Patience" was the result of a late night jam session with sync boxes, groove benders and the classic TR-909. After much fine-tuning, it’s been tried and tested by Cinthie on her recent Australia tour and is set to be a staple club cut for this summer.

Although "Insouciant" means a casual lack of concert, a lot of work went into making this one tick. It’s the most laid-back of the bunch, with Smallville-esque Juno 106 melodies perfect for the afterparty or warm up session. This goes out to the post-NYD loft party crew in The Wick where it was played for the first time. Try pronouncing this one at 7am in the morning…

"Fridge Speed" is a minimal house cut influenced by Thoma’s garage roots. Think rudely placed analogue synth stab melodies, ‘tuff’ skippy drums and big subs ideal for early hours and the capital's penchant for upfront house tackle.

"Egress" was made with long jam takes from Thoma’s modular system. Deep, dubby beats, evolving synths and textures make up this track that’s been road-tested on the world famous Fabric Room 1 sound system by Voigtmann in his extended set before Ricardo Villalobos.

Current support comes from Maya Jane Coles, Archie Hamilton Franck, Roger, Cinthie, Voigtmann, John Dimas.

John Wall and Mark Durgan return after a lengthy absence [ there first release together was in 2011] Theirs is a fractured sound world woven together from improvisations that took place in the Utterpsalm Studio in London between 2012-15. The resultant seven tracks are an attempt at imposing order, structure and "expression" without meaning or intentionality onto a huge amount of heavily edited sonic material

‘Untitled’ is the debut album from “New York City’s buzziest new band” (NME).

This follow up to their cult classic, eponymous EP documents WALL’s rapid ascent from a relatively unknown entity to a hard-playing, highly sought after act on the NYC underground circuit and beyond.

From the pensive minimalism of ‘River Mansion’ to the fervent satire of ‘High Ratings’, the barely nascent four-piece captures the nervous energy of a city defined by constant change.

In The Wall - Original Score

THIS IS A RECORD STORE DAY 2014 EXCLUSIVE, LIMITED TO ONE PER PERSON.

Death Waltz Recording Company are extremely proud to present their first release by major Hollywood composer Clint Mansell (REQIUEM FOR A DREAM, NOAH), the score to the award-winning 2007 horror short IN THE WALL. Telling the surreal story of a man who accidentally kills his pregnant wife and hides her body in a cavity wall, only to be haunted by visions of her corpse escaping, the film deftly moves from psychological horror to creature feature propelled by Mansell’s intense music. The score is anchored by the main theme, a versatile string melody that moves from sinister to emotional to tragic to perfectly match the shocking events of the film. Mansell’s work continues in the same vein as the music composed for Darren Aronofsky’s films with the Kronos Quartet, expertly mixing the stripped-down string sound with electronic elements and percussion to create a vivid colour palette. The music plays with the conventions of the genre, at times Bernard Herrman-esque high strings pierce the silence, while intense electric guitar and feedback alternate with sparse, echoing drums. The electronics slowly undulate beneath the surface, winding up the tension and used more as a textural device until the final trip-hop rendition of the main theme takes your breath away. A classic score from a truly brilliant composer.

Featuring exclusive cover art by Jay Shaw and sleeves notes from Clint Mansell.

                          Package includes a 48 x 48 poster and 12 x 12 lithograph.

                            Still Flyin'

                            On A Bedroom Wall

‘On A Bedroom Wall’ is a beautifully uplifting 80sinfluenced indie synth pop album laced with melancholy and longing.

Led by Sean Rawls of Masters Of The Hemisphere, Still Flyin’s 2009?s much loved ‘Never Gonna Touch The Ground’ established the band?s fun-loving credo, and saw them touring the world 15- members strong, with a little help from the likes of Isobel Knowles (Architecture In Helsinki), Mark Monnone (Lucksmiths), Gary Olson (Ladybug Transistor), Josephine Olausson (Love Is All) and Yoshi Nakamoto (Aisler Set).

2012 sees the band streamlining their setup to bring a tight new ethos to their production and songcraft, mixed with a healthy dose of ingenuity and fun.

These tracks will appeal to fans of Architecture In Helsinki, Cut Copy, Of Montreal and M83.

                              A Place To Bury Strangers

                              Onwards To The Wall

‘Onwards To The Wall’ packs every bit of the searing sonic maelstrom listeners have come to expect from A Place To Bury Strangers. Yet, the adroit songcraft that’s always been there is brought more the fore, pop hooks are repurposed and more instantly recognizable.

Now joined by bassist Dion Lunadon, formerly of The D4, in whom the band have found a crucial companion in pulling timeless melodies from their jet engine textures.

Standout ‘So Far Away’ takes all the pure pop perfection of The Box Tops’ ‘The Letter’ and shoots it through with a barely-harnessed dark energy and snarling propulsion. The title track carries a similar balance of classic, 60s pop hooks and doomed-out vibes, employing a boy-girl vocal trade off that’s at once both sexy and menacing.

A handful of contemporary bands are currently exploring the new limits of loud. And here, A Place To Bury Strangers prove that they have not only been leading that charge for some time now, but that they are also evolving and maturing on those front lines.

‘Onwards To The Wall’ is a fresh, complete artistic statement. It’s a new chapter, a prelude for what awaits on the horizon. It is a taste of greatness to come.

Adapted for cinema by Alan Parker featuring Bob Geldof in the lead role, and featuring the unique artwork of Gerald Scarfe the album also yielded the hit single Another Brick In The Wall Pt2.

                                STAFF COMMENTS

Andy says: Double album/concept album etc, etc. What never gets written about this amazing LP is that unlike its more indulgent, long-songs predecessors, this is a record crammed full of concise, melodic ditties! Classic song after classic song. Incredible.

                                Blind Atlas

                                Iron Wall

Hailing from Denver (Colorado USA) and disparate points around the UK, Blind Atlas came together in the bohemian suburbs of south Manchester; united by a shared preoccupation with drinking, failed relationships and the Flying Burrito Brothers.

Led by singer/guitarist Ross Thompson, Blind Atlas concoct a new take on American alternative country and classic British Rock ‘n’ Roll; taking inspiration from The Rolling Stones to Townes Van Zandt right through to artists such as Calexico and Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy.

Familiar faces on the Manchester circuit, Blind Atlas have notched up headline slots at some of the most iconic venues in the city, as well as supporting the likes of The Acorn, Blitzen Trapper, Buffalo Tom, The Features, and The Bees

'... grizzled vocals and a heart-wrenching lyric sheet … think Ryan Adams fronting The Black Keys, or perhaps Fleet Foxes with a Led Zeppelin fixation; and clearly all designed to soundtrack long, whisky-addled nights of anguished soul-searching'. - City Life.

                                Mogwai

                                The Hawk Is Howling

"The Hawk Is Howling", their sixth album, sees Mogwai return to a totally instrumental landscape, with many songs coming in at around the eight minute mark. A brooding and atmospheric collection, full of the band's exceptional use of dynamics and creation of hypnotic soundscapes, "The Hawk Is Howling" is, however, partly more reflective than previous releases, perhaps sharing more in common with 2001's "Rock Action". Instrumentally the band have somewhat branched out, utilising light synthesizers on tracks such as "The Sun Smells Too Loud". The album was recorded with Andy Miller at Chemikal Underground and mixed by Gareth Jones at Castle Of Doom. It's the first time the band have recorded with Andy Miller since they worked with him on their debut "Young Team". Artwork for the album is designed by Aidan Moffat.

                                  All That To The Wall

During the writing of their new album, "All That To The Wall", The Narrator underwent some pretty heavy changes, which included the departure of their drummer. Maybe this slimming down further forced the boys in a direction they were already headed, or maybe it served to remind them of what they loved about being here in the first place. Regardless, the band hunkered down in the studio and brought along friends from the likes of Oxford Collapse, Russian Circles, Bound Stems, Sybris, Tight Phantomz and Lying In States to help make things right.
