New Age Doom And Lee "Scratch" Perry

    Remix The Universe

We Are Busy Bodies presents a compilation of new perspectives on The Upsetters final collaborative album, 2021s Lee Scratch Perry's Guide to the Universe by New Age Doom. Remix The Universe features new versions by artists from the post- hardcore, experimental hip hop, indie rock, EDM and ambient spheres. From the overdriven electronic blast by Andy Morin (Death Grips), to the dance floor-ready groove of South Africas BLK JKS, to the head- banging fuzz- dub of Quicksand, and Nick Reinharts experimental exploration, the 12 track album sizzles across 44 minutes of new music.

        Lee 'Scratch' Perry And Friends

People Funny Boy: The Early Upsetter Singles

In the late spring of 1968, after years spent making his mark within the Jamaican music industry as an artist and jobbing producer, Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry unveiled his own Upsetter Records label.

Over the months that immediately followed, his exceptional talent was repeatedly reinforced with the release a series of popular 7” singles, the most successful was his ground-breaking hit, ‘People Funny Boy’.

By the summer of ’68, the recently launched Trojan Records had acquired exclusive rights to Perry’s productions, issuing the best of his work on the company’s flagship label, prior to creating a British version of his Upsetter imprint, early the following year.

This deluxe 7” box set collection gathers faithful reproductions of the first ten 45s that showcased his work in the UK, each pressed on high quality vinyl and presented in specially created card sleeves.

Also featured within this stylishly designed collection is a fold-out poster-sized insert, featuring a detailed essay on Perry by the producer’s official biographer, David Katz.

          The Scratch

          Girls World

Self released 7" from this St Albans four piece who play spirited guitar tunes with a heavy dose of punk attitude.

            Lush Rimbaud

            Action From The Basement

Great new album from this Italian four piece who dash out a noise rock akin to Brainiac, Fugazi, the Pixies and possibly worship at the altar of Touch And Go Records circa 93-95, but that's no bad thing, in fact it's a fresh take on the noise rock staple, more dimension added to the power, there's a disjointed pop that filters through the well orchestrated mush of melody, jangle and hi speed rock and roll.
