The Stanford Family Band

For Your Listening Pleasure

The Stanford Family Band release their debut EP "For Your Listening Pleasure". Fronted by the captivating lead vocals of Elliot Stanford, the EP's six songs capture a vintage pop aura whilst retaining a fresh indie and garage rock edge.

Offering a sound which journeys through bittersweet memories, nostalgia, and the warmth of sunlit days, The Stanford Family Band have started to make a name for their unique sonic approach - drawing inspiration from iconic acts such as The Beach Boys and The Modern Lovers, built around complex four-part harmonies and irresistibly memorable melodic hooks.

Speaking about the EP, Elliot Stanford (lead vocals, piano, guitar and songwriter) said: "When we were first signing with Goo, we really had no idea what we would release or how it would end up looking. We have a lot of songs, old and new, some of which have been floating around for many years. In the end we just really wanted to put out a body of work that really encapsulates everything we are about! We love big dramatic songs and arrangements, but at the same time, a little cheeky country/garage rock beat has always tickled us so we just really wanted to capture everything that we love in one concise record. It’s been an absolute pleasure to work on this with our friend Harry Hayes (Producer) and we are mega proud of how it all came together!"

Having already garnered tastemaker press coverage and a whole host of radio play, The Stanford Family Band have quickly started to gain critical acclaim. This EP showcases the outfit’s uncanny ability as songwriters, creating memorable, charming and beautifully constructed melodic tracks.

    Welly

    Live In A Village Hall

Just 18 months into their career, in which they played Glastonbury and Victorious Festival and became the most talked about band of this years Great Escape festival, Welly and his band of PE-kitted disciples are the fun, sarcastic pop band that this grim post-punk generation needs. Early in 2023, they released a short live EP, taken from a recording made in an empty village hall in Rottingdean, as well as a limited edition 7" single Home for the Weekend (Live in A Village Hall) through Goo Records - a full film and mockumentary followed. Meanwhile, they have grown a fiercely loyal fanbase while gaining extensive radioplay from Steve Lamacq and BBC Radio 6. Live shows include a live TV feed, food tasting, live lyric writing, and maybe a few songs too (where there’s room). A jam of Fatboy Slim, The Human League, Rizzle Kicks, and Harry Hill, Welly are more than just another five fools with guitars – they have bells and whistles, too. Literally.

      Owners Club

      Owners Club EP

Owners Club call themselves a "pub rock four piece" - but they are so much more than that. There's a through line in their taut, visceral guitar sound going from British greats like Roxy Music and Marc Bolan, through The Buzzcocks and The Jam before taking a detour off to NYC and nodding towards The Strokes and The Walkmen. The Dorking-based four piece are a blistering live act, with songs that range from singing about the long discontinued Double Diamond beer to vampires, the occult and an England that feels like a distant memory.

This EP will be the band's debut release on vinyl. Recorded at Small Pond Studios in Brighton in April this year, and produced and mixed by Matt Gleeson of WELLY fame, it presents three songs that brilliantly demonstrate what a ferocious, tightly-wound sound this Dorking four-piece can produce.

The lead single will be Double Diamond - a song that came about after a chance purchase of a Double Diamond-branded ashtray from a car boot sale by Dorking train station. The song is a romantic and messy vision of the life the ashtray’s lived, the pub it came from, the punters who left their fag ends in it and the messy nights and bar fights it’s witnessed. With sprawling synths, punchy guitar lines and tongue-in-cheek lyrics, the song is an anti-advertisement for a drink which no longer exists, as well as a look through rose-tinted beer googles at what Britain's night life - for better or (almost certainly) for worse - was once like. As the advert used to state: you know where you are with Double Diamond. It works wonders.

        Canned Pineapple

        Canned Pineapple EP

This four song EP is the perfect showcase of the band’s precious gift of being able to combine Teenage Fanclub style heart-breakingly gorgeous melodies with the crunching guitar assault of Dinosaur Jr. Their instantly recognisable songs have been making audiences fall completely in love with them across the UK and Ireland. No doubt you will fall too.
