Franz Scala

Cafe Futuro (Disc 1)

Slow Motion Records founder Franz Scala announces the infectious, ground-moving LP 'Cafe Futuro', a follow-up to his highly acclaimed debut ‘Mondo Della Notte’. Homage to the influential Neukolln bar and meeting point for Italo and cosmic disco heads, 'Cafe Futuro' builds upon a bold and innovative sound, showcasing fellow creators and genre-defining artists, solidifying the Italo aficionados sound, synonymous with the pioneering greats.

Technicoloured synthlines, heavy machinary drums, juddering bass; all the elements necessary to create an amyl-soaked fever dream of red-lit, neon-hued, late nite excess.

As well as releasing the album as a 2xLP release, Franz has done DJs a favour by splitting the album across two 12" releases. This is part 1.

STAFF COMMENTS

Matt says: Franz does the surprisingly uncommon, but actually quite forethinking move of splitting his recent LP "Cafe Futuro" across two 12" discs (as well as releasing it as a double LP with full artwork last week). Really useful for DJs if you only need a few tracks off the LP to get those lasers twitching. He absolutely blew the roof of TWH at Red Laser last week - Franz we salute you!

STAFF COMMENTS

Matt says: The 2nd separate disc taken from the full length double LP - "Cafe Futuro". DJ friendly, Franz has split the release across two discs, meaning if there's only a particular track or two you wanna use, you can grab it instead of forking out for the whole album. Nice one mate!

TRACK LISTING

A1. Saxon Rebel (feat. Local Suicide)
A2. Crush Test (feat. Charlie)
B1. BIT99
B2. Fantasy Bazar
B3. Fase Lunare (feat. Acid Gymnastics)

Tamati

Notte In Riviera - Incl. Franz Scala, Sparkling Attitude And Gledd Remixes

Tamati's Notte in Riviera EP on the ever-stronger young label Saint Wax is a perfect bit of Balearic house escapism. The title track, which translates as 'night on the Riviera', is just that - a humid late-night house cut with some erect female vocals. 'Tutto Un Deja Vu' cuts loose with freewheeling melodies and blissed-out pads, and 'Magica' then goes deep. Italian producer Franz Scala blends 80s vibes with modern sensibilities like few others as he shows on his remix of the title cut, then Sparkling Attitude and Gledd add their own fresh versions.

STAFF COMMENTS

Mine says: Tamati treats us to an EP full of playful disco and house with catchy female vocals, topped off with 3 remixes catering for all sorts of moods and occasions. I personally really dig Franz Scala's moody italo tinged version of one of the tracks... If you're into Peggy Gou, or you enjoyed Aili & Transistorcake's EP 'Dansu' from a few years back this record is definitely one to check out!
