The Rascals are a British indie rock trio formed in 2006 by Miles Kane (guitar and vocals), Joe Edwards (bass) and Greg Mighall (drums), hailing from The Wirral on Merseyside. Before becoming The Rascals, all three members spent their formative years playing together in The Little Flames, gaining valuable experience touring with prominent contemporaries such as The Coral, The Zutons and, most significantly, Arctic Monkeys. It was while supporting Arctic Monkeys—drawing inspiration from their fiercely independent, DIY ethos and refusal to compromise—that the trio decided to trust their instincts and strike out on their own.

Widely regarded as one of the strongest indie debuts of 2008, Rascalize cemented The Rascals’ place in the UK indie landscape. Now, with its first-ever vinyl release for Record Store Day 2026, the album offers both longtime fans and new listeners a chance to rediscover a bold, energetic record that captures a distinctive moment in British indie rock history.

“Alle Sorgenti Delle Civiltà Vol. 3 - Africa, Australia, Nuova Zelanda” (1971) is the third and final chapter of a triptych of folk-based sound recordings released by Folkmusic. The album contains a total of fourteen tracks by Braen and Raskovich, i.e. the a formidable multi-instrumentalists Alessandro Alessandroni and Giuliano Sorgini, each grappling with seven different compositions characterised by a tribal mood. Among the grooves of this record, repressed on vinyl for the first time by Musica Per Immagini, it is possible to discern an in-depth study of one of those forms of popular culture referring to a specific geographic area, comprising the types of traditions often handed down orally and concerning knowledge, beliefs, fairy tales, legends, myths, narratives linked to the dimension of the fantastic, customs and traditions, namely music. Festivals and propitiatory rites, fights and dances, magical and sacred representations were all expressions of life whose sound and rhythm contributed to an appropriate description of the environment. Alessandro Alessandroni and Giuliano Sorgini have chosen some of the most significant musical characters that even belong to specific ethnic realities scattered across two distant continents, where the use of some of the typical instruments has favoured the realisation of sonorities of considerable interest.

Two years after her debut EP, Meduulla returns with "Tabula Rasa" - a collaborative debut album created alongside acclaimed hip-hop producer Ethan Hill. N1_SOUND & Ras Yunchie join forces on an 8-track LP that transcends both definition and generation. INNA DJ STYLE, out November 7th, marks the Toronto veteran singer’s first-ever vinyl release.

Pairing four vocal cuts with four dub versions on the B-side, "Inna DJ Style" bridges experimental dub, digi, and roots, embodying what Ras describes as an open sound - one that draws from reggae traditions while boldly breaking new sonic ground.

N1_SOUND first encountered Ras’ distinctive voice and soaring falsetto at Toronto sound system parties. A cornerstone of the city’s reggae scene, Ras Yunchie has been performing since 1983 and remains a vital presence more than 40 years on. His contributions have been recognized with a Lifetime Achievement Award from the National DJ Association, alongside titles such as DJ of the Year, DJ Sound Champion, and winner of the 1985 DJ Sound Clash.

While the rhythms pulse with heavy bass and the three-dimensional lead melodies synonymous with N1_SOUND, it’s Ras’ vocals that make "Inna DJ Style" truly shine. Each track was recorded in a single take and left largely untouched - a testament to the raw talent and enduring artistry of the 61-year-old singer. Across the four vocal cuts, the alchemy of contrasting styles, influences, and lived experience highlights how collaboration can push sound and genre into bold, unexpected territory.

Rastafarianism had its roots at the start of the 20th century and became widespread in Jamaica following the visit of Haile Selassie, the King of Ethiopia, to Kingston in 1966. Count Ossie is the central character in the development of Rastafarian roots music, nowadays an almost mythical and iconic figure. His importance in bringing Rastafarian music to a populist audience is matched only by Bob Marley’s promotion of the faith internationally in the 1970s.

Count Ossie’s drummers performed on the first commercially released single to integrate Rastafarian traditional music with popular music: the vocal group The Folkes Brothers’ groundbreaking song ‘Oh Carolina’, recorded for producer Prince Buster in 1959. In 1966 his drummers greeted the momentous arrival of Haile Selassie at Kingston airport.

His legendary jam sessions up in his Rastafarian compound in the hills of Wareika, Kingston, are famous for the many Jamaican musicians who attended including The Skatalites players - Roland Alphonso, Don Drummond, Johnny Moore, Lloyd Knibbs - and many others.

The Mystic Revelation of Rastafari formed in Kingston, Jamaica, in 1970, a union of Count Ossie’s Rastafarian drummers - variously known as his African Drums, Wareikas or his Afro-Combo - and the saxophonist Cedric Im Brooks’ horns group, The Mystics.

The Mystic Revelation of Rastafari are the defining group in bringing authentic Rastafarian rhythms into the collective consciousness of popular music, their unique music is at once rooted in the deep traditions and rituals of traditional drumming and chanting alongside a forward-thinking, even avant-garde, artistry influenced by the likes of John Coltrane, Sun Ra, Pharoah Sanders and other pioneering African-American jazz artists radicalised and charged by the civil rights movement of the 1960s.

Like Sun Ra’s Arkestra and John Coltrane are to jazz, the Mystic Revelation of Rastafari are to reggae - the ultimate expression of roots music and Rastafarian ideology in reggae music, music functioning at a high level of spiritual consciousness combined with an equally avantgarde and forward-looking approach to sound.

The group’s stunning, unique and groundbreaking 1973 album, ‘Grounation’, a mighty conceptual triple album (the first ever reggae triple) is, similar to Marvin Gaye’s ‘What’s Going On’, a definitive all-encompassing cultural statement of its time and place. A sprawling album of raw and unique cultural expression that combined Rastafari consciousness with deep spiritual jazz music - an absolute and essential classic of Reggae music.

The Mystic Revelation of Rastafari group came into existence at the start of 1970s, the union of two artists (and groups) of equal repute - Count Ossie and his African Drums and saxophonist Cedric ‘Im’ Brooks’ and his group, The Mystics. Both Ossie and Brooks were alumni from the great Studio One Records.

Master drummer Count Ossie and his collective of Rastafarian drummers performed for Haile Selassie on his momentous visit to Jamaica in 1966. Cedric Brooks came out of the Alpha Boys School - the fertile breeding ground of musicians who dominated the Jamaican music scene from the 1960s onwards: Tommy McCook, Don Drummond, Johnny Moore, Headley Bennett, Johnny Osbourne, Yellowman, Leroy Smart, Bobby Ellis, Joe Harriott, Eddie Thornton, Vin Gordon, Rico Rodriguez, Owen Gray, Leroy ‘Horsemouth’ Wallace and more.

The Mystic Revelation of Rastafari’s ‘Grounation’ is a massive opus, a work of profound musical genius that tells the story of Jamaica through music and words. The album is a cornerstone in the history of reggae, a unique and other-worldly album the like of which has never been made since.

Acid Dad is an American alternative-rock band composed of singer-guitarists, Vaughn Hunt and Sean Fahey, and drummer, Trevor Mustoe. Vaughn first started recording the band in his Bushwick, NY basement releasing singles “Brain Body” and their first EP “Let’s Plan a Robbery.” Appearing live in the New York City rock scene in 2016, Acid Dad quickly moved to a world stage with their self-titled debut album, released by Greenway Records in 2018. During 2020, the band spent their time building a new studio space in Queens, NY, while continuing to independently produce all their own music, art and even building their own guitars.

With a new space and vision, the band produced their second LP, “Take It From The Dead,” set to be co-released in June 2021 by Brooklyn’s Greenway Records and psych powerhouse LEVITATION’s label, The Reverberation Appreciation Society. “Take It From The Dead” features an array of different influences ranging from 90’s neopsych, modern post-punk and 70’s rock-n-roll. Acid Dad has crafted a record that sounds new, yet feels nostalgic. In contrast to their earlier work, they make use of slower tempos and expand their sound to include songs that are both more intricate and more hypnotic. To accompany the new record, the band spent the last year collaborating with video artist Webb Hunt, producing psych and glitch art videos that form a visual counterpart to the dreamy distortions of their sound.

From one song to the next, you are taken on a journey through Black British musical excellence. Ice-cold UK drill drips on Smoke Boys-featuring ‘Act Like You Know’ (produced by MK the Plug) and Eastside pulses with pure grime courtesy of Chubby Dreadz and Platinum 45. Self-produced opener ‘God Knows’ (featuring P Money) and high-octane ‘You Don’t Know’ pull from dubstep, grime and drum ‘n’ bass while threatening to wreak havoc with your speakers. By the time Alicai Harley’s warm up vocals float over sunny syths on the deeply personal ‘Energies + Powers’ (produced by Steel Banglez), the album practically radiates heat. ‘E3 AF’ is set to confirm Dizzee Rascal’s status as the master at the top of his game.

Dismayed at the prospect of a harsh British winter, Mr Bongo fly south to Rio for the foreseeable, bringing us a gorgeous double sider of uptempo vintage MPB samba jazz from Carlos Sodre, originally released as a 33rpm ‘compacto’ 7” single on Copacabana in 1965. On the A-side, "Ciumeira" shuffles and sizzles with snake hipped rhythms, heavy guiro and Technicolour orchestral arrangements. On the B-side, "Rasga Teu Verso" drops the intensity for a more sultry swing through the smoke and sweat of the jazz bar.

Ólafur Arnalds and Janus Rasmussen finally release their unique Nordic electronic sounds in album size

After dropping several tracks and performing at select festivals throughout the years, Ólafur Arnalds and Janus Rasmussen dedicated the year 2014 to explore the area in-between Ólafur’s more acoustic, piano-based solo work and Janus’s synth-heavy electro pop, with their collaborative electronic project Kiasmos.

By focusing solely on their self-titled debut album, Ólafur and Janus have been able to combine and further develop their unique sound aesthetics to complete an album driven by their mutual love for electronic music. Made in Ólafur’s newly build studio in Reykjavík, Iceland, a majority of the album was recorded using acoustic instruments next to a variety of synthesisers, drum machines and tape delays. It features a live drummer, string quartet and Ólafur performing on the grand piano, producing an ambient, textured sound, which makes it a perfect home listen and equally danceable record. If you listen closely, you can spot them record the thumb piano, finger snapping and even the sound of the metal grinder of a lighter slowly to replace the usual electronic hi-hat sounds, giving the album a far more intimate and unique atmosphere.

“We decided to start almost completely over with this record, so most of the material is written this year with the idea of making a record that can stand as one piece rather than a collection of songs. I am very excited to get a proper record out exploring a different territory than I am used to. I touch a lot on electronic genres in my own music but never have the opportunity to go full out electronic like we do here.” – Ólafur Arnalds

“The Kiasmos project has been around since 2007, but because of all our other projects we never really got the time to sit down and write all the tracks we always wanted to. So when we early this year finally found the time to sit down and make a full length album there was so much we wanted to try out. The result surprised us a bit, it's deeper and more emotional than we imagined it to be, but that's the beauty of being able to make an album.” – Janus Rasmussen

Long-term Erased Tapes graphics collaborator Torsten Posselt at Feld Studios in Berlin created the cover artwork. Feld Studios was a natural choice for Kiasmos, seeing he also designed the cover for their Thrown EP, released previously.

Kiasmos is made up of Icelandic BAFTA-winning composer Ólafur Arnalds, known for his unique blend of minimal piano and string compositions with electronic sounds, and Janus Rasmussen from the Faroe Islands, known as the mastermind of the electro-pop outfit Bloodgroup. Based in Reykjavík, Arnalds used to work as a sound engineer, often for Rasmussen's other projects, where the two musicians discovered their common love for minimal, experimental music. They eventually became best friends, often hanging out in their studio, exploring electronic sounds.

4 Deep roots dub cuts of the first track from Lee Scratch Perry’s new album ‘’Back on the Controls’’

‘Rastafari on wall street’ features a heavy weight sound system style cuts of a deep roots rhythm from ‘’Back on the controls’’ A title track with Lee Perrys political and conscious lyrics about rastafari and a takeover of the Wall Street system, followed by a heavy Dub version mixed by Daniel Boyle, the co-producer of ‘’Back on the controls’’ and Lee Perry on the Dubbing and effects. This is a sublime and vintage style Dub cut that uses rare and vintage equipment to create the mix.

Side two sees veteran reggae vocalist Danny Red echoing Lee’s conscious message with a solid vocal cut called ‘’I’m Willing’’ A sound system scorcher that has been tested to full effect on ‘Young Warriors’ – (the son of Jah Shaka) sound system. To back this version up, the 4th and final cut on the 12” Features a haunting Flute cut dubbed again by Daniel and Lee in full Analogue style.

Honest Jon's Shangaan mash-ups keep flowing, this time rubbing the energised South African electro dancefloor grooves up against the equally hyper footwork sound from Chicago, USA. This 12" offers two absolutely lethal, footwork reworks from these three originators - body-rocking, invigorating and startling, hybrid without compromise. DJ Rashad And Spinn's A-side is route-one dancefloor murder, honed and nasty, vintage Chicago sounds reborn and gone clear across the border; on the flip RP Boo serves up a fiercely dazzling juke vocal collage, bare and hard as nails.

After his ‘Destination There’ EP and digital-only album on Flying Lotus’ Brainfeeder, Ras G steps back to RAMP with his signature speaker popping, extra-solar instrumental hip hop with new album ‘Down 2 Earth’. Residing in the left coast, Ras is godfather to the post-Dilla instrumental hip hop movement, releasing various vinyl releases on his own Poobah label as far back at 2005, which were instrumental in the formation of the L.A. beats scene way before a Flying Lotus beat had a sniff of PVC. His dusty beats and booming bass humps are still standing tall in an often-stagnant field. ‘Down 2 Earth’ is his rawest most straight up hip hop release to date, sewing together dub soundsystem culture into a ‘Donuts’ style beattape format.

Dizzee Rascal returns with new album "Maths & English". On the one hand it's easily his most accessible record to date. On the other, it's as brutally honest and confrontational as anything he's done to date. Check out first single "Sirens" – with its Korn-inspired metal guitars. Or the Lyn Collins-sampling "Pussyole", which is the straightest hip hop track he's ever done. The album also features a host of special guests, including the vivacious backchat of Lily Allen on "Wanna Be", the Shy FX-produced "Da' Feelin", and the gangster rap anthem "Where's Da G's" with US legends Bun B and Pimp C (UGK). Then there's the reggae infused "Temptation" which samples Alex Turner of the Arctic Monkeys. While "Maths & English" may have been inspired by a huge number of different styles and influences, the album retains its distinctively British identity and only goes to enhance that Dizzee Rascal really is one of the country's best musical talents.

Over the past twelve months, Dizzee has travelled the world, and been on a rollercoaster ride of new experiences. "Showtime" is a bigger-sounding album than his acclaimed debut "Boy In Da Corner" but it's equally individual. It's a force of nature; a volcanic ride of crazy wordplay, ghetto techno and bottom-heavy bass. "Boy In Da Corner" was stunning because of it's penetrating power and singular evocation of inner city life, and "Showtime" hits the spot for similar reasons – but with added bass rumble and, crucially more tunes. What Mills has dropped in neurosis he has gained in precision-guided anger.

Eschewing hand-me-down ghetto tales from an across-the-pond 'hood, the precociously talented Dizzee Rascal instead tells it like it is from his (18 year old, East End) angle - unemployment, gun-crime, relationships, MC battles etc. Two years in the making, this LP takes in influences from UK garage, hip hop, r'n'b and drum'n'bass, but comes up with a unique sounding jagged-edged electronic sound. Definitely one to check out!

With so many 'underground' rock bands signing away their souls to the major corporate labels it's good to find a band like Tabula Rasa. Their mix of post-punk, math rock and emo-core is for the discerning music lover. Ideal for fans of Jawbox, Thrice and Fugazi.
