Blues For The Red Sun - 2023 Reissue

Blues for the Red Sun is the second studio album by American Rock band Kyuss, released in 1992. While the album received mainly favorable reviews, it fared poorly commercially, selling only 39,000 units. It has since become a very influential album within the stoner rock genre. It was the last Kyuss album to feature bassist Nick Oliveri who was replaced by Scott Reeder shortly after recording had been completed.

Muchas Gracias: The Best Of Kyuss

The members of short lived Palm Desert, CA stoner/desert rock trailblazers Kyuss went their separate ways in 1995 after only four genre defining albums with Josh Homme and Nick Oliveri forming Queens of the Stone Age, John Garcia founding groups Unida, Slo Burn, and Hermana, and Brant Bjork joining Fu Manchu. 2000 posthumous compilation Muchas Gracias: The Best of Kyuss gathered a selection of 15 rare tracks, B-sides and live cuts. Run Out Groove offers up a colored 2LP pressing of the hard to find album with deluxe packaging.

      Kyuss

      Wretch

Kyuss were pioneers of stoner rock before the term even existed. Formed in 1990 by guitarist Josh Homme, bassist Nick Oliveri, vocalist John Garcia and drummer Brant Bjork they'd jam for days out in the Californian desert at wild 'desert parties' defining their unique sound. "Wretch" was their debut album issued in 1991 on the independent Dali label. The god-created, earth-shaking riffs are all in place as is the down-tuned guitar and heavy drum kick - don't expect finesse this is the band at it's rawest. Josh Homme, of course, went onto bigger things with Queens Of The Stone Age.
