Surfin' The Great Lakes: Kay Bank Studio Surf Sides Of The 1960s

Board bustin' banshees from landlocked America! Surfin' The Great Lakes takes a largely instrumental spin through surf rock and surf-themed gems. From the twistin' twitcher Trashmen, stripped down Chuck Berry covers, Mancini jams cut by The Mustangs, to The Satisfactions doing their take on a Beach Boys B-side! This sonic tsunami of West Coast surf and R&B music floated below sea level for over 50 years... Until now! This compilation showcases the best of what Kay Bank had to offer. Surf's up!

    Great Lakes

Great Lakes, from Athens, Georgia, USA is the songwriting project of Dan Donahue, Ben Crum, and James Huggins. The LP was recorded entirely in their home studio but features 11 different musicians including members of Neutral Milk Hotel, Elfpower and Of Montreal. Influences range from the Zombies and Brian Eno to the Flaming Lips and Galaxie 500. Apart from the traditional rock band elements, Great Lakes' music is made up of piano, organ, synthesizers, horns, woodwinds and features an impressive line in melodic pop songs combined with abstract forays into experimental soundscapes and less traditional elements like drone and repetition.
