FELIPE GORDON

GAMM's Columbian star Felipe Gordon back on the dials! His individual (and jazzy) take on house music and beyond has given him a big following within the underground dance community, resulting in some rather hot releases throughout the last couple of years.

The new EP begins with 'Self Love', a warm and intimate jazz excursion that also plays around with some quirky electronic ideas. The second jam 'The Punk Automata' has a more bumpy and driving rhythm and plenty of club play appeal. On the third track 'Your Feelings' we go darker with a proper late-hours deep house jam. On the final track, Felipe teams up with Bob The Egoist (great name) for a deep and musical vocal jam entitled 'Please Don't Go'.

Don't forget about the amazing artwork supplied by esteemed Scotsman, Mr Al Kent. This man truly has the magic feel when it comes to creating authentic vinyl designs.

STAFF COMMENTS

Matt says: GAMM's in-house superstar Felipe Gordon takes time out from editing the shit outta the best jazz and disco records to get heads down and deep in the club. Four red-lit, nicely swung house grooves for your to get busy with at the weekend. Nice!

Felipe Gordon

NeighbourSoul Edits Vol.5

Three-track heater by Felipe Gordon, signing the 6th installment of NeighbourSoul Edits. "Deroy" leaps out the starting blocks with a sense of excitement and urgency, rushing to the tropical disco party with a funky swagger and a colourful shirt.

"Latin Emanon" slows things down to a hip-centric, swirling wobble. Sultry vox and bolshy horns complimenting the endlessly grooving guitar licks and bustling percussion section beautifully.

Finally, "Nitollano" hits the accelerator again for a final flurry of tropical disco delights. With a chorus to unite the masses, and a equally infectious guitar / bass combo, this one should keep everyone dancing under a starry sky of a balmy summer evening, no questions asked.

STAFF COMMENTS

Matt says: One of the most respected dicers in the modern game gets busy with three different joints. Perfect for mincing around the pool at Pikes or throwing down some more serious moves at the Rotation Garden Parties...

"Errare Humanum Est" comes from the Latin proverb 'To err is human' as a musician and a human-being, you are constantly facing mistakes on your compositional work and your instrumental interpretation. Felipe Gordon presents his second conceptual album under this premise, you should accept and make mistakes as a crucial part of art and life. During late 2022 and beginning of 2023, the musician and producer worked on a new long player in his home studio El Dorado in Bogota, Colombia. Trying to create a whole new concept and universe he re-visited some forgotten musical sketches, going from breakbeats, synthesis, boom-bap, deep acid and house music.

Felipe presents us his new album, a melting pot of musical ideas, again not trying to achieve an album just of club hits, but a whole listening experience to cover every day musical enjoyment. Released on Felipe's Wide Awake, a new record label focused only on sharing and creating a platform for his constant output. As in "A Landscape Onomatopeya" (Felipe's first LP) Primer Ocaso took over the editorial design on their talented hands, creating an amazing gatefold double album pressed onto 140g solid white vinyl.
