Fresh (well, knackered really!) from his handbags With Jack (well, it was quite a bit more than handbags, actually, wasn't it?) episode, Jason Stollsteimer and co. have upped the ante for their second album and major label debut. The sound is rich, clear and powerful (Courtesy of Talking Heads' Jerry Harrison) and the songs go from Stooges dirges through Southern gothic melodrama and bruised soul power to Pixies-ish trash and sweet bubblegum pop. Throw in a bit of Cramps and erm...Gary Glitter (is it still OK to do that?) and add their girl / boy cool'n'sexy call and response dynamic and you have one excellent LP. It's a huge step on from their debut. Who needs Jack White, hey?!
