Sophia Jani & Teresa Allgaier
Six Pieces For Solo Violin
About this item
Sophia Jani is a composer of contemporary classical music. She is the current Composer in Residence of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra for the 2023/24 and 2024/25 seasons. Here she's joined by violinist Teresa Allgaier for the collaborative work "Six Pieces for Solo Violin". Characterized by its calmness and poise, each movement focuses on a particular technical aspect, bending the boundaries of the instrument while maintaining the illusion of simplicity.
Sometimes the most complicated thing anyone can do is to try to create something that feels uncomplicated. Arvo Pärt, ballet, a delicious meal we didn’t cook ourselves, Ella Fitzgerald, a safe place to lay our heads at night, a quiet pine forest – […] In all these things, it takes a lot of effort to make us feel as if something is effortless.
- David Lang (from the liner notes)
