Fabiano Do Nascimento

Cavejaz

Rio de Janeiro guitarist and composer Fabiano Do Nascimento returns with new album, ‘Cavejaz’.

‘Cavejaz’ is a project that stemmed from a hangwith renowned Minas Gerais singer / songwriterJennifer Souza, who suggested that Do Nascimento might record music with a newconnection: the musician Paulo Santos, best known as a member of landmark Brazilian group UAKTI.

Collaborators with Paul Simon, Philip Glass, Milton Nascimento and Stewart Copeland, among others, UAKTI became known for crafting their instruments by hand, using all kinds of recycled materials such as PVC pipes, glass, water, sponges and more. Their artistic manifesto centres around creating minimal music, even as an ensemble.

    Pulse

Qur’an Shaheed (b. 1992, Pasadena, CA) is a pianist, poet, singer and songwriter based in Boyle Heights, Los Angeles, CA. She has been playing piano since the age of four, trained extensively in classical and contemporary music. Since 2012 she has been developing her practice as a songwriter alongside her solo piano and ensemble work. She released the album 'Process', with producer Jesse Justice and Preference Records, in 2020 and regularly performs in and around Los Angeles. Her sound is innovative, highly personal, and experimental, incorporating elements of improvisation as well as neo-classical and neo-soul techniques.

Qur’an Shaheed’s debut album, 'Pulse', is a bold sonic experiment across ambient sonic terrains. With this record, Shaheed—a pianist, poet, and vocalist from Pasadena, based in Inglewood—fuses formal classical training with a deep commitment to improvisation. Guided by spurts of instinctual, jazzy vocalization and lyrics that incant dreams of an exalted future, Pulse transcends genre, capturing a journey toward presence, revelation, and a liberated poetics of sound.

Get 2 know Nicky Benedek: a producer, songwriter, multiinstrumentalist and DJ. His compositions bridge the nebulous territories of house, boogie, hip-hop, jazz-fusion and experimental new age. Born and bred in Los Angeles, Benedek began pulling inspiration from the city’s structural and visual dichotomies at a young age. He picked up a guitar at 9 years-old, taking note of any and all sonic surroundings, from prevalent West Coast G-funk to the synthesized sound effects in video games to a Herbie Hancock record pulled from his dad’s collection. Amongst a complex set of influences, funk took a hold on his heart by high school.

Bene’s World is Benedek’s second Leaving Records release, following last year’s Coolin’ EP as well as a full-length debut on the influential Peoples Potential Unlimited label. His catalogue also includes collaborations with Dam-Funk, Delroy Edwards and Tom Noble. Recorded between his Koreatown studio and the West LA home he grew up in, Bene’s World captures the characteristically-LA mingling of urban action and canyon seclusion.
