MCR club night High Hoops follow the logical progression from party to record label and introduce new artist Pleasure Cruiser into the sonic landscape. A former RBMA graduate, Pleasure Cruiser has spent the last two years living in Ota-Ku, Tokyo, where much of this EP was constructed. Pleasure Cruiser's pulled off somewhat of a coup for this debut, getting Japanese proto-house wizard Shinichiro Yokoto in on co-production duties! "Rainforest" also features Ayako Higa on vocals and is a shimmering ode to Japanese Summer's. Crystalline keys, rainforest sounds and ultra crisp hats characterize the production, with Yokota's influence apparent from the start. "Insecure" sees the vocalist retained as PC and SY get that bit more bumpy, taking the track directly to the peak hours off the infamous Manc gathering. "Baka Otoko" opens side B with another vocalist, Chara, delivering some echo-swamped vox over a gliding, coastal house groove. Finally, spine-tingling early 90s house movements are explored via "Sayonara", with Wakana Hrt providing an evocative refrain while M1's and vintage breaks are brought right back into fashion. A great introduction from High Hoops and a good representation of the sounds and flavours of their party - top one gents.!

Matt says: Word up to Robbie and Marcus, High Hoops head honchos who've taken their party spirit and imbued it into some lovely black plastic. Excellent work lads.
