FREERANGE

Freerange Records presents "Reflections Vol. 1", the first in a brand-new series of vinyl compilations showcasing highlights from the label’s recent digital catalogue. Designed to give collectors and DJs the chance to own selected tracks on wax for the very first time, the "Reflections" series brings together fresh talent and established names across four lovingly curated cuts.

On Vol. 1, Freerange gathers four diverse yet complementary tracks from Cody Currie, James Kumo, Jimpster & Bishy, and Radic The Myth, delivering a snapshot of the label’s forward-thinking yet timeless approach to house music.

Cody Currie leads the charge with "Better"; a deep yet playful slice of groove-laden house from the ever-inventive London-born producer. Fusing dusty samples, swinging drums and jazzy flourishes, Cody’s contribution brings warmth and good energy to the compilation. Next up James Kumo showcases his refined, stripped-back sound with a hypnotic workout that blends dubby chords, subtle textures, and crisp percussion. "Loosen Up" is a classy late-night roller that oozes atmosphere and restraint whilst keeping the dancefloor locked in nicely.

Flipping over we’re treated to Jimpster & Bishy’s "Come Down" which goes in an Afro-inspired direction, striking a perfect balance of musicality and dancefloor focus in the process. Closing out the EP things get super-deep and introspective as Radic The Myth delivers "Back To You". With layered rhythms and haunting synth motifs, this cut adds a cinematic edge to the package, making for a powerful closer.

With "Reflections Vol. 1", Freerange Records bridges the gap between digital and vinyl, offering a timeless package for both long-time fans and those discovering the label for the first time. Expect further volumes to follow, each curating essential tracks from the label’s catalogue.

In his 30th year of releasing music, Jimpster returns to Freerange with "Bassic Rollers", a brand new four track EP that reaffirms his status as one of UK house music’s most enduring and inventive figures. This marks his first full release since the highly regarded "The Phoenix EP" on the legendary Nu Groove imprint.

With "Bassic Rollers", Jimpster once again distils decades of dancefloor knowledge into four deeply musical club weapons. Opening the release, "Out And About" finds Jimpster firmly in his sweet spot. Deep, rolling and effortlessly musical, the track showcases his trademark sample chops, locked-in with punchy drums and a warm, hypnotic bassline.

Inspired by his recent gigs in South Africa, it’s a mesmerising late-night roller built for heads-down dancefloors and long blends. "Heads Down" nudges the BPMs upward for a slice of classic, hypnotic deep house with a distinctly UK slant. Drawing inspiration from late ’90s club culture - the kind of grooves you might have heard on a Wednesday night at Kenny and Luke’s influential Space nights at Bar Rhumba - the track channels the spirit and energy of pivotal outfits such as Fresh & Low or Soul Capsule. Tight, bouncing drums, shuffling hi-hats and sweeping synths combine for a driving, stripped back burner.

Flipping to the B-side, "Crispy Pancakes" takes a sharp turn into mutant disco territory. A crunchy kick, tight 808 hats and driving analogue percussion form the backbone, while a looped live bass sample adds the raw energy. When the drop lands, the track dives deep with arpeggiated synth lines and unmistakable Underground Resistance-style pads, delivering an uplifting and euphoric moment primed for peak-time floors.

Closing out the EP, "Far Side" lowers the tempo for a sublime slice of deep disco house. Rich in samples, layered percussion and textured FX, it’s a track designed for warm-ups, wind-downs, or those moments when the dancefloor drifts inward. Hypnotic and immersive, this is one to get lost in. Once again, Jimpster delivers deeply musical club music, effortlessly weaving together different sounds and influences. "Bassic Rollers" is four tracks of sublime goodness - timeless, deep, and unmistakably crafted by a true master of the genre.

Crackazat returns to Freerange for his latest EP entitled "Shine". An absolute anthem in the making, the title track appears here with a Club and Mana’s Dub mix, plus there's an amazing flip of "Crouching Tiger" from Baltimore legend Karizma

"Shine" is a soulful, jazz-inflicted epic which will have any dancefloor worth it’s salt fully locked in. Crackazat’s own vocals bring hints of Jamiroquai whilst his production calls golden era MAW and Blaze to mind. Add an incredible arrangement, live horns, bass and drums to this already heady concoction and you see why tracks like this are few and far between these days.

Next up we have the Mana’s Dubs of "Shine". A chance for Ben to strip things back, loop things up and dub things out. Keeping the funk intact, we’re treated to a feelgood party-starting house track which has a classic sound that can’t fail to warm the cockles!

Flip over for a proper curve-ball from everyone’s favourite Baltimore house hero Karizma who turns "Crouching Tiger" into the kind of twisted, rolling, jazzy and leftfield workout we love him for. A driving force of the city’s underground, he always comes with the raw energy and fearless creativity. A staple of the dancefloor and a leader beyond it, Karizma represents the past, present, and future of Baltimore house and once again proves why he’s such a don. Drop this one and run for cover whilst the dancers throw crazy shapes! Closing out the EP we have another dub Crackazat’s Mana’s Dub take on previous single Watchu Say.

Looping up the killer piano hook and his live bass line, Ben manages to craft the kind of warm, uplifting slice of house music which simply works. And for those who love a big drop, this one should fit the bill with a trademark Mana’s Dub serotonin-boosting build that hits all the right buttons.

Freerange is gearing up to celebrate 30 years in the game! To start the party, they welcome none other than Soul Clap for their first-ever release on the label. Known for blurring the lines between funk, disco and house with their signature EFUNK sound, the Boston-born duo step into Freerange territory with a rich, groove-laden EP that fuses timeless club energy with emotional depth.

The "Drowning In Your Love EP" features longtime collaborator and magnetic vocalist Shaun J. Wright (Hercules & Love Affair / Classic / Midnight Magic), whose heartfelt delivery and lyrical poise ensure the title track sticks in your head long after the needle has left the record. The trio have created a timeless club track evoking the spirit of the tripped-out sounds of golden-era west coast house — dubby FX, a hint of breaks, soulful vocals, and that unmistakable Soul Clap swing — all put together with a flair that will move any dancefloor worth it’s salt.

Next up we have a stripped back, percussive beats tool built for the DJs. Here on the "Storm Drums Mix", the groove remains front and centre, offering maximum mix flexibility and raw drum power for peak-time creativity.

Flipping over we have the second of two originals – "EFUNK Anthem (The Funk Mix)". Raw, jackin’, and drenched in Chicago influence and attitude; pure dancefloor fire merging classic hardware grit with that signature playful funk that only Soul Clap can deliver. On "The Stripped Mix" things get a bit deeper and moodier, pulling back the layers to reveal a hypnotic bassline, Detroit chords and smoky late-night textures and FX. Closing out the EP we have a mesmerizing DJ tool in the form of Drowning In Your Love (Wind-Appella)" - all atmospheric noise FX and Wright’s haunting vocals, the perfect tension-builder or outro moment. Soul Clap’s debut on Freerange shows the duo flexing both their soulful songwriting and their underground club sensibility bridging generations of house heads and keeping the funk alive.
