Cold War Kids

The band’s singer and songwriter Nathan Willett describes: "This is our self titled record. Everybody gets one. This felt like the right time because the sound of this record is the sound that makes Cold War Kids unlike any other. I’m so proud of these songs. They took a long time to come together. The longing and struggle and joy I wanted to express are personal to me and I am so excited to share it with our fans who have come with us on the journey.

    New Age Norms 1

Over the course of a dozen releases – including seven studio albums, multiple EPs, and a live album on majors and indies alike, non-stop tours and the festival circuit’s biggest stages, massive radio, sales & streaming successes, the band have become a major part of the modern landscape.

Their new album New Age Norms 1, with lead single “Complainer” is the next chapter with the approach of taking apart the idea of what the band is and just trying to take the doors off a bit to see where it can go.

The follow-up to 2014’s Hold My Home marks the band’s sixth to date and first for major label Capitol Records. According to a press release, it was inspired by the SoCal indie rockers’ hometown of Los Angeles.

In anticipation, Cold War Kids have unboxed “Love Is Mystical”, an upbeat lead single punctuated by stomping piano. “It’s about supernatural love — looking for inspiration and meaning, surrendering to feeling, love calling out your name and that journey we must go on to find it,” said frontman Nathan Willett in a statement.

“These songs were recorded some time between ‘loyalty’ sessions and now. They didn’t belong there, but they kept hanging around, starting trouble; made friends, and insisted that their story be heard,” said Nathan Willett, CWK frontman…
