Streetcleaner - 2022 Reissue

Drawing from post-punk and industrial acts like; Swans, Big Black, Killing Joke and Throbbing Gristle as much as the more metallic and punk influences that informed guitarist/ vocalist Justin Broadrick's previous band Napalm Death, the pounding, drum-machine powered sonic assault of 'Streetcleaner' sounded like nothing else at the time, breaking down people's perceptions of what a metal band could sound like. You can still feel the album's broad influence everywhere from the dense atmospheres of post-metal to the abrasive beats of modern industrial and techno outfits, but despite its many imitators, there's still nothing else that quite captures the feelings of paranoia, anxiety and urban decay that 'Streetcleaner' so deftly articulates.

    Godflesh

    Post Self

Over 2 years in the making, 'Post Self' explores the less 'metal' side of Godflesh; taking in the formative influences, and spitting out something more informed by late 70's early 80's post punk and industrial than it is anything metal related. Thematically personal and obsessive, exploring anxiety, depression, fear, mortality, and family relationships (Mother / Father).

Khost (Deconstructed And Reconstructed By) Godflesh

      Needles Into The Ground

Needles Into the Ground contains material by Khost which has been elementally transformed by Justin Broadrick of Godflesh. The original Khost material – taken from their second album Corrosive Shroud – is dense, multifaceted and purgatorial with no straightforward ‘stems’ based approach. Broadrick has extracted what he needed for his work whilst in pure Godflesh mode. As a result, the outcome is claustrophobic and frenetic, the experience akin to being in the proximity of a large, unstable machine on the verge of meltdown. In addition to these pieces, Khost has added a new track. Vinyl comes with download code.
“If it was a painting it would be about a kilometer wide held up by old, thick metal supports and wires that creak in wind, in parts abstract, in parts quite hard to decipher, and the materials would be oil like and seeping, never quite drying out” (Khost).
