It’s a bolder, heavier, groovier, record. Mixed with Scott Colburn (whose production credits include Arcade Fire’s ‘Funeral’ and Animal Collective’s ‘Feels’) this is a three dimensional being, solidifying the band’s evolution from a bedroom recording experiment to a fully fleshed dynamic ensemble.

Falling somewhere between Captain Beefheart, Throbbing Gristle and SALEM in the lineage of musicians who’ve found a muse in the nasty, brutish brevity of life, Supreme Dicks chose to cloak disarmingly real paranoia and grief in the contemporary trappings of late '80s and early '90s lo-fi college rock. They may have inhabited the same sonic and physical space as colleagues like Dinosaur Jr (Lou Barlow was an occasional Dick, and at least one early Dinosaur Jr show was actually played by Dicks in disguise), but they stripped away all youthful yearning and anticipation in favor of a bleak and unblinking certainty. Honest, frank, and free of ironic distance. Obtuse and yet so essential that it can’t help but feel familiar to anyone who’s ever spent a sleepless night wondering whether there's any point to all of this. And, on occasion, warm, intimate and lovely.
The Supreme Dicks formed while students at Massachusetts’ Hampshire College in the twilight of the Reagan era. The campus was a fractured posthippie free-for-all that many students theorized was a right- wing think tank experiment in pitting progressives against each other. The constantly revolving lineup centered around songwriters Daniel Oxenberg and Jon Shere, and whoever else was around and willing to torture an instrument. They advocated the teachings of Wilhelm Reich and were vocal about focusing their creative energy via celibacy. This may do much to explain the constant, unrelenting tension that provides the driving force behind the most powerful moments in their music. Regardless of tempo or arrangement, Supreme Dicks songs play like soundtracks to autoerotic asphyxiation, haunting tones that ring in the ears at the moment consciousness is lost and not guaranteed to return.

The band’s self-titled debut includes seven songs that were recorded throughout 2012 at Canty’s studio. During that time, Morel and Canty’s demos were torn up and expanded through extensive improv sessions alongside Ocampo and Cisneros. Tracks that started out small and introspective were blown up to a size and volume more befitting of the group’s cavernous practice space.
The tone is dark, but the lyrics – which cover themes covers themes like sickness, breakups, corruption, drugs, fame, and losing ones mind – shouldn’t be read as straight biography. They’re works of fiction; character studies that just happen to touch on topics that are close to home.

From the woozy atmospherics of the title track onward, you know you’re in for something special. Tre hits the beat with his precise, complex flow, managing to express the kind of fragility which distinguishes the very best grime MCs. Wiley - Tre’s earliest supporter and champion in the UK - features on “Real Grind,” while Canadian hip hop legend Saukrates joins him on “Get Doe,” the pair serving to signal the range of his work. Mission trades verses with JME on “Rally,” something like a sequel to “If You Don’t Know.” “On Road” combines an old skool twostep feel with uneasy, bleary tension for one of the stand-outs of the record. “In The Hallway” is epic, widescreen bounce with the added bonus of a verse from Skepta. “Jack Pot” is sparse, harsh, bass-heavy grime, Tre's flow matched by Merky Ace. Another stand-out is “Boy In The Corner,” a story rhyme that also acts as a tribute to Dizzee Rascal and a genre classic. When you allow for the fact that Tre also produced most of “Stigmata,” you know you’re dealing with a serious proposition.

Every year anew, during the Rauhnächte (those harsh nights between Christmas and Twelfth Day), the Wild Hunt (Die Wilde Jagd) rides across the country: raucous, jeering hunters from the nether world, whose path it is better not to cross. This is an ancient Germanic myth, which, in slightly varied form, is known in many parts of Europe and whose name Ralf Beck and Sebastian Lee Philipp have aptly chosen for their new project. The two first met in 2006 in Düsseldorf's Salon des Amateurs , a meeting place for new and established experimental musicians and artists, also known as Germany's "postpunk Hacienda". It seems no coincidence that Düsseldorf is the duo's founding city: their music is full of subtle references to local acts, such as Kraftwerk, NEU!, DAF, Liaisons Dangereuses, Pyrolator, the Krupps and Propaganda. Since their first meeting, Beck and Philipp regularly come together during the time of the Rauhnächte to record in Beck's well-equipped studio. Using the numerous analog keyboards and recording devices assembled there, and combining them with a diverse range of percussion instruments, they create their own "hunting music", which at times sounds unsettling, like swampland or a dark forest, but also urgent and pressing, like incandescent lasers or a hypnotic dance. Their soundscape is marked by repetitive guitar loops, electronic percussion, drums and synthesizers. Booming tom-toms and medieval-sounding flutes herald the start of the hunt. Whispering, reciting voices conjure up the spirits of the woods, while synthetic sounds, melodies and noises flit about before they are re-captured, structured and grounded by crystalline beats and pulsating bass lines.
About the musicians: Ralf Beck is a musician and producer from Düsseldorf. He has released several albums as part of the duo Nalin & Kane, as well as under the name Unit 4. He collects old synthesizers and effect pedals and has already worked together with Karl Bartos. In his studio Uhrwald Orange he has recorded music by Propaganda, Kreidler, Black Devil Disco and many more.
Sebastian Lee Philipp is part of the Berlin-based electro-wave duo Noblesse Oblige and composes music for theatre and radio plays. Between 2001 and 2006 he lived in London where he ran the club night "Caligula" and performed as a DJ.

The Book of Taliesyn is the second studio album by English rock band Deep Purple, recorded only three months after Shades of Deep Purple and originally released in October 1968, just before their first US tour. The structure of the album is similar to that of their debut, with four original songs and three rearranged covers; including a unique version of River Deep Mountain High. The music style is a mix of psychedelic rock, progressive rock and hard rock, with several inserts of classical music arranged by the band's keyboard player Jon Lord.
This super rare mono mix on white vinyl will be on the Harvest label, audio is cut from the high resolution transfer of the original analogue master tape that has been used in the Hard Road Mark 1 CD box set.

The reality of the holidays lies somewhere more liminal, in the space between joy and depression, between excitement and boredom, between “peace on earth and goodwill toward men” and “I think I might murder my entire family.” So who better to teach us the true reason for the season than Dude York, a band whose music so often seems to exist in an in-between space of their own? Dude York are funny and serious and earnest and deeply ironic all at the same time. The three friends who comprise the band—Peter Richards (guitar, vocals), Claire England (bass, vocals) and Andrew Hall (drums, vocals)—have spent their four years together applying their particular Dude York-ian sensibility to topics like mental health, breakups, and the power of art and friendship.
Now they’ve returned with Halftime for the Holidays to pop some chestnuts right on your fire and tackle their most poignant theme yet; THE MOST WONDERFUL TIME OF THE YEAR. Halftime for the Holidays is a holiday record for how the holidays actually feel. Tracks like “Takin’ Care of Christmas” (it’s exactly what you think it is) and “Jingle Bells Rock” (it’s not) deliver the requisite tacky cheer. “Greatest Gift is You” and “My Favorite Part (Of This Time of Year)” soar like the greatest pop-punk love songs, with the added benefit of CHRISTMAS. And songs like “Long Distance Christmas” and “Break Up Holiday” testify to the loneliness that they can spring on you without warning. It’s a record that manages to wrap the strangeness of sleeping in your childhood twin bed and the soft wonder of waking up to snow into one delightful white elephant present that you won’t re-gift.
Halftime for the Holidays is self-consciously goofy, but refreshing in its willingness to tackle the misery and joy of the season with equal force. So deck the halls, engage in a regrettable make out session underneath the mistletoe, and rest assured that no matter what kind of reindeer games the universe is playing with you this year, Dude York has you covered.

But then there are records like this, popping up out of nowhere only to blow your musically obsessed mind! From a quick scan of the centre label, you'd be forgiven for thinking this is your standard Chicago acid track, desireable only for the posibility of a few motivational spoken word cuts. When you whack the platter on the player however, you experience something very different indeed. A spiritual journey through cosmic keys and subtle percussion, which vibrates at your very core, enriching your soul with every passing moment.
Frustrated at her students' lack of cultural awareness, Miami-Dade public school teacher Dr Mary Sullivan Bain recorded ‘Do You Know Black History’ in 1985, self releasing it as a single for educational purposes. Original copies didn't make it much much further than Florida’s public school libraries and the record has been shrouded in mystery up until now. Produced with no label constraints, this cross-genre grail sits comfortably in many boxes... 808’s, bass synths, deep chords, live percussion and effects dubbed into the mix. The production leans towards the electronic diy framework that informed the local sound on the Miami south side. The vocal side offers an inspirational account of Black history, full of passion and pain, while the instrumental side strolls through outer space and Ibizan sunset, sounding exactly like the kind of sublime ambient cut you'd find on a battered old Café del Mar. Reissued officially for the first time ever by Backatcha, this is a total one of a kind.

The five albums; Shades Of Blues (1965), Dusk Fire (1966), Phase III (1968), Change Is (1969) and Live (1969), have reached almost mythical status in the collector's world. Regarded as holy grail artefacts for even the seasoned aficionado, the collective second hand market value comes to an astonishing £6000.
Many have tried - and failed - to reissue these albums by legitimate means. However, two decades since our initial approach, Universal Music has gone to great lengths to research their vast archives, and we have finally managed to succeed.
The complete Don Rendell & Ian Carr Lansdowne recording sessions have now undergone a full and unprecedented boxset reissue. We located and acquired the original analogue master tapes from the Universal vaults and created masters at Abbey Road Studios to produce audiophile quality 180g pressings replete with replica artwork - shape, design, and even paper stock. No stone has been left unturned to deliver this absolute labour of love to the highest possible standard! The enclosed booklet contains never before seen photographs, interviews with the remaining living band members and liner notes from BBC Radio 3 presenter and award-winning jazz writer Alyn Shipton.
The band played together for seven years and during this fruitful time they made a plethora of deeply melodic, post-bop British jazz compositions that later on took influences from Indo and more spiritually guided jazz. Produced by the influential Denis Preston and recorded at his Lansdowne Studios in London, the band was primarily made up of saxophonist Don Rendell, trumpeter/composer Ian Carr, and pianist/composer Michael Garrick. This is UK jazz at its absolute finest, and the quality of our box set pays testament to that.

Side A is a deeply moody dark ambient journey through mists of choirs to a place of ritualist electronic beat swamp finally being spat on a leaf suburb road somewhere in Surrey - what just happened !
Side B unlike the previous side this begins far more reflective, as the journey progress it becomes more unsettling once more - a baroque minimalist piece followed by modular synths melding with breaks and drum machine - ambient field recordings , a mesh of carefully gathered and selected samples - FSOL perfection.

‘A Deeper Life’, Chaos In The CBD’s debut album over 10 years in the making, is nostalgic for the duo’s nature-filled youth, exploring the magical coastline and lush rainforest of New Zealand. “The title refers to our childhood, which was idyllic,” says Ben. “It was just the sun, the sand, the sea, waterfalls, birds and fish…” The album’s blissful setting is also depicted on the album cover: a painting, by a childhood friend, of the beach where they grew up in Devonport.
‘A Deeper Life’ whirls that profound love of house music and wide-ranging influences – from Brazilian to R&B, ambient to Italo to deep house and downtempo pop – into a serene, cohesive whole with their signature finesse. The result is an international dance sound that feels unmistakably like Chaos and ebbs and flows from the beach party to the club to the afterhours.
On the album they’ve teamed up with a number of US legends and married their vocals with the UK underground: Josh Milan of house pioneers Blaze brings his soulful vocals to the bossa nova beats of ‘I Wanna Tell Somebody,’ a future jazz-dance anthem. Unheralded Chicago house hero and Larry Heard collaborator Lee Pearson Jr. goes deep over ‘More Time’’s broken beat flex. And on ‘Maintaining My Peace’, the brothers have matched veteran house singer-songwriter Stephanie Cooke with UK grime MC Novelist, on a slinky LDN interpretation of LA hip-hop and g-funk.
Also featured on the album are New Zealand jazz artist Nathan Haines, frequent collaborator Isaac Asaeili and more.

A true architect of the Balearic sound, Mison has released music under several monikers, among them Ambala, Reverso 68 and Cantoma, whose debut has been canonized as an all-time chill-out great.
On this sophomore Ambala LP, Mison continues to elaborate and seek new avenues for the chill-out sound, layering solid digital grooves with organic instrumentations and dreamy synth leads.
Several instrumentalists from the Music For Dreams roster guest the album. Guitarist Santino Surfers (Jonas Krag) serves up a number of exquisite solos throughout the album, ranging from smoky twang to Mediterranean romance. Composer Troels Hammer and pop ambient artist The Swan And The Lake provide tranquil sweeps of keys and synth, often blooming into dreamy little melodies.
Also featuring on the album are producers Anders Ponsaing, WALTHER and OliO.

Emerging from a period of creative exploration and personal transformation, MISSED IT JUST THE ONCE marks a pivotal moment for wing!, the moniker of Bexleyheath born-and-raised producer Adam Swan. “This EP was a breath of fresh air for me,” he shares. “It was the first time I had multiple tracks I was proud of. The idea of having an EP to listen back to and be excited about was completely new to me.”
Each track on the EP tells its own story, both in sound and in the moments of its creation. The first single "Out From Outer" was the first track written for the EP, and its original skeleton was conceived during wing!’s lunch break from working in a coffee shop - a habit that has been the basis of all of the tracks on the EP. “I was listening to a lot of Brazilian funk and thinking about how J Dilla layered samples on Geek Down,” he recalls. “I wanted it to feel like a live DJ endlessly flipping samples over a drum loop.”
The track served as the catalyst for the formation of wing!’s live band: after sending it to drummer Joe Killick, they had their first rehearsal and began transforming the music into a live experience, soon joined by bassist Kai Charlton. They made their debut at The Windmill Brixton in April 2024. As a trio playing live, they bridge the gap between beat-driven electronic & hip hop music and live jazz-inflected improvisation. Their blend of trip-hop textures with post-rock dynamics contributed to the EP’s final completion, with all three performing on the closing track.
Closing track In A Second I Will Need A Second’s post-rock inspired sound blends seamlessly with wing!’s more native hip-hop beatmaking. Drawing influence from the likes of Godspeed You! Black Emperor and Butch Kassidy, the track's energy is built around a drum crescendo of epic proportions. Initially hesitant to incorporate live drums over the usual sampling, wing! ultimately embraced the organic energy it brought to their live and recorded sound. The track’s momentum is driven by drummer Joe Killick’s subtle dynamic shifts. Kai Charlton brings deeply melodic bass, resulting in a piece that feels immense while remaining introspective.
The EP came hot off the back of opening Green Man Festival’s iconic Mountain Stage after winning the Green Man Rising competition.
MISSED IT JUST THE ONCE is wing! planting his flag in the ground, and making their first definitive statement. Boom bap grooves melding seamlessly with trippy ambiance and propulsive composition. With ‘In A Second I Will Need a Second’ the trio close out their debut EP in an epic conclusion. wing! continue to move from strength-to-strength, and have cemented themselves as one to watch with this release. With Missed It Just The Once, wing! establishes himself as an artist unafraid to follow his instincts, experiment freely, and find creativity in unexpected places.

The result is Scarlet Rebels’ electrifying fourth album, F'lawed By Design'. With frontman Wayne Doyle plus his brother, drummer Gary Doyle, guitarist Chris Jones and bassist Carl Oag teaming up once again with producer Chris Clancy, it sees the Llanelli band deliver 11 anthemic songs that combine the powerful with the personal.
'Flawed By Design' is the sound of a band at the top of their game, from Wayne’s emotive vocals and lyrics, to the powerhouse rhythm section and Chris Jones’ blazing guitar. Yet there’s an emotional core to 'Flawed By Design' that runs even deeper than its arena-sized ambition. By the band’s own admission, it’s the most introspective record they have ever written. It‘s that marriage of ambition, emotion and human connection that defines both 'Flawed By Design' and Scarlet Rebels themselves.
“I want us to be recognized for the depth of our material,” says Wayne. “I want us to be known as a band that writes heartfelt songs that resonate and touch people. We want to move people physically, but we want to move them emotionally too.”
With 'Flawed By Design', Scarlet Rebels have done just that.

Lead single 'Stars' is a synth-laden track with hypnotic riffs, meandering vocals and bouncing basslines. The single, already a fan favourite, paves the way for listeners to enter the 'Friend World' that Do Nothing have created. At first glance, the album is overflowing with hard hitting guitars, infectious rhythms and frontman Bailey's signature razor-sharp witted lyricism, but dive deeper into tracks such as 'These People Want Blood' and standout track 'Loner', to find an alternative take on the album, representing a softer and more pensive side of the band's writing.

While the majority of ‘Skin and Blisters’ is an impressively DIY project - written and recorded by the band with the help of producer and live bassist James McManus - these early offerings were beefed up for the album with the help of producer Oli Bayston (Barry Can’t Swim, Rachel Chinouriri), giving a heavier nod to some of the pair’s more indie-centric influences, from Viagra Boys to Getdown Services.

'Doggone' centers around themes of community, aging, recognizing your gift is in your blood, carving out your own version of success, planting seeds/growing roots, and the impact of place on creative work. Silverstein continues to explore the intersection of loner-folk, cosmic country, and kraut-laden choogle found across his previous releases.
While writing the songs for this record, Silverstein discovered his uncle was a songwriter and manager for North Country Band, a 1970s Grateful Dead–inspired country-rock group from Minnesota. Silverstein had been DJing the album & showing live performances to friends before knowing his uncle's involvement. This furthered his understanding of his uncle's life in music (performing with Doc Watson, putting on shows for Jerry Jeff Walker, etc.) and gave him the inspiration and motivation to keep pressing on with the album.
Album art features an archival photo of Hat ‘n’ Boots, a famous landmark designed by Pacific Northwest artist Lewis Nasmyth in 1953 for a Western-style gas station, now in Seattle's Oxbow Park due to a community-led effort to save them from demolition. The iconic roadside attraction fell into disrepair after the original gas station closed in 1988. In 2003, the community rallied to have the structures moved, and they were restored and reopened as a park landmark in 2005.

On the original album, Toledo often used the name “Joe” as a pseudonym – a sly homage to Daniel Johnston. Revisiting 'Teens...' in the run-up to its 10th birthday, he felt called to give Joe a unique backstory and began tweaking the album to tell that tale. The group returned to the studio with 'Teens...' producer Steve Fisk to update accordingly – tweaking lyrics, revising arrangements, and recording new songs in the “Denial-style,” including ‘Optimistic Son” and the anthemic ‘Joe Drives Again’. The result retains 'Teens’ dark edge and youthful cynicism, but allows a bit of hard-won compassion into the mix.

Sarah's talents have seen her much in demand, and she has worked with acts as diverse as Yazmin Lacey, Nubya Garcia, Yussef Dayes, Binker Golding, Jazz Jamaica, Femi Koleoso, Camilla George and Basement Jaxx. Originally a classically trained pianist, she released her debut album on the Jazz Re:freshed label in 2019. Widely acclaimed, she was nominated for Jazz FM Breakthrough Act of the Year and went on to receive the Parliamentary Jazz Award for Best Instrumentalist.
During the touring hiatus in 2020, she took time to study music production and electronic music, which led to writing and production credits on Yazmin Lacey's recent album 'Voice Notes', and eventually the creation of her new full-length album 'Delicious Capricious'. A freewheeling ride incorporating elements of psychedelic funk, hip hop, deep groove, grime, trip hop, soul and London swagger, the album is bound together with a palpable love for the wildness and exuberance of jazz and includes featured guest performances from K.O.G., Kyra, Tee Peters and Akin Soul.

From the opening track 'You're a Liar', the band establishes a new palette: a rollicking blend of indie and alt-country that sparkles with slide guitar, hardanger fiddle, and a sprightly vocal twang paying homage to Emmylou Harris and Patsy Cline, with classic folk-rock artists like Neil Young, Bob Dylan, and The Band as further touchstones.
In 2024, during Babehoven's first headline tour, Bon suffered paralysis of her right vocal chord and was told she might never recover. In light of this, the album rings out as a sort of triumphant fist-pump. While many of Babehoven's songs are built on intricate cyclical melodies, 'I See Them, I See Me' is full of wide, catchy choruses - anthems to be sung by a crowd.

Strings and brass complement crooned vocals and honest storytelling. This push and pull between big band confidence and late- night vulnerability mirrors the album's emotional landscape, balancing outward movement with inward reckoning. With themes of regret, nostalgia, and optimism, 'Winning Streak' covers long shots taken on love, the emotional aftershocks of risky decisions, and the quiet negotiations we make with ourselves when things don't go as planned.
The album emerged from a period of taking stock: leaving Los Angeles, returning to the UK, and reassessing the definition of success. Rather than presenting success as a fixed destination, 'Winning Streak' reframes it as endurance, perspective, and the accumulation of small personal breakthroughs. It finds meaning in the quiet victories that only reveal themselves after plans have unravelled, and life has to be put back together again. Life moves quickly, knocks land often, and the goal posts keep shifting, but getting back up starts to feel like its own kind of winning.

Meryl Streek returned to Darkland Studios in Dublin to fine-tune the recordings previously made in a shed at the back of his ma's garden. Here he continued the genre-blurring nature of his earlier work, enticing listeners toward dissonant landscapes and hypnotic rhythms. Gentle piano tones collide with abrasive synths, creating a striking tension between beauty and noise. Streek tempers his rage when appropriate, integrating atmospheric textures and pop sensibilities into his ever-expanding sonic collage.
As is tradition with any Meryl Streek record, ‘Stories They Don’t Teach You At School’ unearths many uncomfortable truths. ‘Rotten Fruit’ examines media manipulation and the numbing proliferation of misinformation, all soundtracked by synth-punk. With gliding keys and a crunchy bassline, ‘Council Estates’ critiques systemic government failures affecting the working class. ‘Kelly’ is a slice of electronica that details an ongoing criminal investigation, currently classified as a “Contested Cause of Death”. The indie pop of 'The Chancer' brings much-needed attention to landlord politicians. As the album progresses, the mission remains absolute: to provide a voice for the voiceless.
To amplify these narratives, Meryl Streek handpicked a diverse group of collaborators for the project. ‘Rotten Fruit’ features Steve Ignorant of anarcho-punk collective CRASS. ‘Depression’ opens with a touching recording of the late Liam Norton, close friend and former touring companion, while Pete Holidai of The Radiators From Space contributes guitars on the song. Comedian Phill Jupitus provides the spoken outro for ‘The Chancer'. ‘Housing For All’ incorporates audio from Derelict Ireland campaigners Frank O’Connor and Jude Sherry. Venn Records owner and Gallows guitarist Laurent ‘Lags’ Barnard joins forces with Adebisi Shank bassist Vinny McCreith on the aggressive ‘Bullet,’ while Sophie Porter of Other Half provides bass guitar for ‘Life is Not a Rehearsal’. The album concludes with a three-minute spoken word piece by Frankie McNamara, the viral creator behind ‘Meditations for the Anxious Mind’.
In her 1990 protest anthem 'Black Boys on Mopeds', the late Sinead O’Connor warned, “To say what you feel is to dig your own grave”. With this release, Meryl Streek firmly holds the shovel.

From the velvet sway of 'Addictive Touch' to the cinematic tension of 'You Bring Me Joy' and the beat ballad ache of 'Hard Way To Live', the album moves effortlessly between bedroom-soul intimacy and widescreen drama. 'Hang Tight' opens with a blissful piano figure that nods to gospel-tinged 1970s soul before unfolding into a full-bodied groove, while 'Hooked On Your Love' glows with golden-age group soul harmony sweetness. Across both sides, Pratt’s finely tuned vocals and Moody’s expressive guitar work anchor songs that feel timeless rather than nostalgic.
At its core, 'Lost Lost Lost' is an album steeped in atmosphere – lush downtempo moments sit alongside sweet harmony-driven soul, cinematic builds dissolve into dark restrained grooves. Analog string synthesizers, vibraphone accents, tremolo guitar, and deep-pocket rhythms create emotional tension without excess. Pratt & Moody’s strength lies in their melodic instinct: songs that feel big without being pompous or losing their human quality. The result is a record that feels cohesive, immersive, and that real thing – reaffirming the duo as key architects of the contemporary lowrider soul revival.

Alongside the original album’s tracklist, the deluxe release features twelve new songs widely available for the first time: stripped-back versions of songs written before the recording of 'I Don’t Know How But They Found Me!' had finished, live favourites heard on McRae’s recent headline tours and festivals appearances, a new version of 'Mother Wound' featuring Maisie Peters as well as new tracks elsewhere featuring contributions from Brandi Carlile and Brittany Spencer.
On the new tracks, McRae explains: “There were so many songs I wrote after writing but before we finished recording the second album that still felt like they lived in this world--very much coming to terms with the reality that no one was going to save me from myself, and that healing is something I would ultimately have to do on my own. I think the sparseness aptly reflects the solitude that is required of that kind of healing--although there are of course a couple songs that required a team to put together and feel right.”
From the very beginning, fans have fallen in love with Jensen McRae for the sharp, evocative and clear-eyed songwriting. "The most profound choices of my life often felt like things I did before I was ready to do, and I had to grow into them,” says McRae. Her songs have a way of giving shape to these leaps, cliff jumps and trust falls, and on her 2025 album, 'I Don’t Know How But They Found Me!', Jensen McRae went further than ever, evolving from a promising young artist to a fully grown songwriter and star.
An avid journaler, McRae has been breathlessly documenting her existence since she was 18. Her first album, 'Are You Happy Now?', was a mission statement for the artist who grew up an automatic outsider: a Black Jewish girl from Los Angeles, hellbent on making folk music in spite of the world's attempts to box her into other, more stereotypically Black genres. McRae looked to her songwriting heroes (Alicia Keys, Carole King, James Taylor, Stevie Wonder) to build a sonic world all her own. As her audience grew and with myriad doors began unlocking, it "became the record of my coming-of-age. But it was a quiet coming-of-age, one that mostly took place inside my own head."
Next, 'I Don’t Know How But They Found Me!' took place against the backdrop of romantic turbulence and McRae's rapidly growing audience. "I had never been in love before," McRae said. "Not really. And then I had two life-altering relationships back to back in my early twenties. This album was primarily an exploration about how love and intimacy knock the wind out of you, can take your legs out from under you." She has also had multiple viral moments, including in the run up to writing 'I Don’t Know How But They Found Me!', when McRae posted a solo verse and chorus online, little more than a piece of a demo, and it took off. Covers, duets, and an avalanche of new fans followed (including the likes of Justin Bieber, Stormzy, and Dan Nigro to name a few); the song was the beginning of "Massachusetts", which would become her first Dead Oceans release.
McRae ventured to North Carolina to record 'I Don't Know How But They Found Me!' with Brad Cook (Waxahatchee, Suki Waterhouse, Bon Iver), also enlisting the help of Hippo Campus's Nathan Stocker on guitar, Bon Iver's Matthew McCaughan on drums, and her younger brother, Holden McRae, on keys. "It felt like summer camp. None of us wanted to leave," McRae said. "It was such a joyous ten days of pure creative expression." In the process, I Don't Know How But They Found Me! found its footing--a vibrating, urgent collection of songs moored by razor-sharp lyrical specificity and timeless pop melodies.
The unusual title of her second album? Taken from a line in McRae's favorite film, Back to the Future. A key protagonist survives a hail of bullets, and the image resonated with McRae. “I really connected with the idea that I could've easily collapsed beneath the weight of what happened to me, but I didn't. I didn't even know it,” McRae says, “but I was bulletproof the whole time."

'DIGITiSE' continues to examine what it means to be human in an increasingly digital world: the relentless pace of AI and technology, the divisions it creates, and the toll it takes, offering up an antidote to that: community. To gather people in a room or on a dancefloor, to feel unity and belonging, is something HAAi has fiercely championed. 'DIGITiSE' opens
itself fully to that spirit.
The album brings the London-based, Australian-born producer, songwriter and DJ together with new collaborators Echonomist, Skybreak, and Cantoalegre (a children's choir from Medellín, Colombia) alongside artists HAAi has collaborated with previously – Pat Alvarez, ILA, James Messiah and Kaiden Ford.

Drawing from darkest depths of the American spirit, 'American Grave' is testament to a subculture spawned from late night savagery, graveyard hangouts and suburban isolation. Deathrock, post-punk, goth, whatever term you prefer, this compilation showcases the sounds and aesthetics of a tarnished golden era, an underground movement that took the DIY concepts of punk and the velocity of a burgeoning hardcore scene and immersed it in echoes, distortion, tribal rhythms and macabre vocals, thematically preying upon cult horror flicks, surrealism, and the manipulation of religious iconography. Whilst the UK had a counterpart scene many would hail as Goth, this was different, this was a truly American incarnation, a new breed of youth haunted by the ghosts of old blues, garage and glam, bleak theatrical imagery dressed up to evoke a response, smeared eyeliner, leather, bones…black. This was a backlash against a culture in decay, bucking against a puritanical oppression brought on by the archaic social standards set by their parents. It was aggression manifested as gloom, it was a ceremony, the celebration of death.
'American Grave' has been co-curated by Wesley Eisold (Cold Cave/American Nightmare/Heartworm Press) in collaboration with Futurismo head honcho Del Jae, to bring you a haunting tracklist ranging from the all important integral mainstays of the genre to those rarer and more elusive artists, including many recordings that have never been reissued before on any format. Featuring the music of Christian Death, T.S.O.L., The Cramps, Of A Mesh, The Gun Club, Twisted Roots, Kommunity FK, The Brainz, Theatre Of Ice, Burning Image, Fur Bible, PSI Com, Shadow Of Fear, Super Heroines, 45 Grave and more.
The music on this compilation is reinstated further from a visual perspective by an array of incredible images by famed punk photographer Edward Colver, and lovingly designed to the level you would expect from a Futurismo release.

No other writer has interviewed the members of Pink Floyd as often nor as thoroughly, which is candidly apparent in this textured, gripping and consistently surprising biography. For the first time, the band's story is told as an oral history with each chapter presented through the words of the band, their friends, contemporaries and supporting musicians. The accessible structure and high level of detail means that the narrative is both approachable to casual readers and magnetic to the committed.
Shine On is comprised of a significant amount of previously unpublished material, including a rare interview with Rosemary Breen lamenting that her younger brother Roger, aka Syd Barrett, should have never become a musician as well as exclusive new interviews with Pink Floyd's Nick Mason and Guy Pratt, reflecting on their enduring legacy and rather more complicated recent twists and turns in the bands story. Shine on is a forensic retelling of one of the most turbulent and enduring groups in rock music history, a complex history that only someone as skilled and insightful as Blake can navigate.

A 'Sleeping Beauty' is a brilliant idea that is ahead of its time.
So many breakthroughs in arts or science were like this, lost on their initial audience and only later revived and acknowledged to be great.
This book asks, why do some ideas fall asleep? And how do they wake up?
We love to believe in a meritocracy of ideas - that greatness is always recognised, innovation always seized upon and rewarded. Yet so many of the people we now recognise as the world's great creators initially got little traction for their work. It was only later, often much later, that their work comes roaring back to life and made a lasting impact.
Discoveries as diverse as dark matter to continental drift, technologies from solar panels to the steam...

It’s tempting to only compare these songs to those of yesteryear – Young’s falsetto, his ear for harmonies and the intricate arrangements all feel timeless. But there’s a sensibility, a turn of phrase, that feels deeply contemporary: it’s telling that Waxahatchee’s Katie Crutchfield described 'Miffed It' as her “favourite song in a VERY long time”, and Katie, MJ Lenderman, This is Lorelei and Black Country New Road have all taken Way Dynamic on tour, while Sir Elton John said that he “just cannot stop listening” to 'Ibiza'. Young’s songs don’t shy away from sentiment, or equally from silliness: on any given song he might suggest a flight to space or earnestly lament a miscommunication. “Can we walk and talk as well?” he asks on “I Was the Dancer”, and we rush to accept the invitation.

'Cadillac Warning' collects a wealth of previously unreleased recordings from the 1990s, excavating the eerie, hypnotic world Fly built from primitive home recording equipment, drum machines and booming car stereos. Named after the talking alarm system in his prized 1978 Cadillac Coup DeVille, the album captures a period when the car was both status symbol and mobile headquarters, carrying his music from clubs and college campuses to gas stations and neighbourhood streets across Memphis.
Championed by the likes of A$AP Rocky, Legowelt, LIM, and more - DJ Spanish Fly's lasting impact on the wider hip-hop landscape is seeing a renewed global interest from underground rap and electronic music communities alike.

'Jealous' opens with a field recording made by Fly in the early 1990s, capturing the talking alarm system of his prized 1978 Cadillac Coup DeVille as it warns would-be carjackers to “move away from the vehicle” – a moment that would later inspire the album’s title. One of the foundational figures of Memphis rap, Spanish Fly helped define the city’s raw, bass-heavy sound long before it spread across the globe. Built from eerie synths, booming 808s and DIY production, 'Jealous / Git Buck' captures the hypnotic street energy that made his homemade tapes legendary throughout the South.
Championed today by figures including A$AP Rocky, Legowelt and NTS Radio, Fly’s pioneering work continues to find new audiences across hip-hop and electronic music alike.

A darker and more enigmatic companion to 2025 EP 'The Container' and her acclaimed debut album 'Lucky Me', 'Premature Nostalgia' draws inspiration from artists such as Imogen Heap, Oklou, Jockstrap, James Blake, FKA twigs and Sega Bodega - embracing warped electronics, fragmented structures and more experimental forms of pop songwriting. The album also features collaborations with Picture Parlour's Katherine Parlour and incorporates field recordings and metallic textures pulled directly from Manchester's industrial landscape and club culture.
At its core, however, the album remains rooted in the bond between Phoebe and Lucy - sisters, collaborators and proud adopted Mancunians navigating the realities of independent artistry together.

With follow up 'Cancel Me (I’m Tired)', Fat Dog have created an exhilarating, swaggering, panoramic, inventive, re-inventive, re-re-inventive electro-punk-art-pop-rock’n’roll-space-country triumph that deserves all the adjectives. Over ten mind-bending and melodic tracks, it blends electro-pop anthems, cascading rave bangers, cowboy-tinged pitstops and swirling psychedelia. Into its lyrical orbit, the record pulls mentions of addiction, family ties, love, AI, ancestry, extra-terrestrials, Chris Tarrant, S&M, B&M, H&M and M&Ms. 'Cancel Me (I’m Tired)' possesses all the rabid frenzy and electrifying excitement of their debut but now delivered on a grand and glorious scale. Big, big things are ahead. Fat Dog are only just getting going.

From the fame and notoriety of The Cure after their hit, “Just Like Heaven,” to the departure of the only other consistent band member, Lol Tolhurst, it’s clear that the grisly spiral into the depths of pain is stamped throughout Disintegration. This book explores the depths of Smith’s masterpiece by way of the French Modernist Charles Baudelaire and his poem, “Spleen.” Much like Smith, Baudelaire took his temperament and softened the edges of sorrow, transforming it into a mass of supercharged emotion: a tenuous concoction of sin and sex, lust and monstrosity, self-hatred and fear… all cauterized by the malaise (and acceptance) of eternal melancholy. And through Disintegration lies Robert Smith’s corpus—his spleen.
It’s here that The Cure’s upheaval and Smith’s heroic martyrdom became the catalyst for his masterpiece.

Blumberg assembled nearly 100 singers, including extreme vocal improvisers Maggie Nicols, Phil Minton, Shelley Hirsch, Freya Edmondes alongside a cast of untrained voices – to create a wordless cacophony of vocal textures that mirrors the Shakers’ ecstatic spiritual practices. This vocal landscape intertwines with tuned percussion, spectral bell tones, celeste, and an ensemble of experimental string players, forming a sonic world that is both elemental and deeply spiritual. The soundtrack includes ten reimagined Shaker hymns performed by the cast, plus three original songs, including end‑credits song ‘Clothed by the Sun’ performed as a duet by Blumberg and Amanda Seyfried.

Lovingly mastered and curated from a stash of Marc’s own tapes unearthed towards the end of 2024, the recordings are a fascinating document of an artist brimming with renewed vim and creativity. They also document how Marc and his super-hot band kept the tapes rolling when recording all over the world, from London to the USA, to Germany and France and back to London.
Included of course is I’m Dazed, the “lost” T. Rex single unearthed from those tape boxes in 2024. Remastered and released on cosmic yellow seven-inch on Marc’s birthday in 2025 (with a new take of Billy Super Duper on its B-side), it helped mark the occasion of Marc being awarded an official English Heritage Blue Plaque. The honour made him just one of 5 pop musicians to ever receive the accolade, alongside Freddie Mercury, John Lennon, Jimi Hendrix and Bob Marley. Two very different takes of I’m Dazed shimmer here: the 2025 single version remixed by Steven Wilson, and another, much slower take, led by languid drums, clavinet and piano.
74-77 comes in 2LP packaging with photography by Kevin Cummins, The set was curated for Demon by “T.Rexpert” Martin Barden and mastering undertaken by AIR Studios’ Phil Kinrade.

We jammed and jammed and jammed.
I took the tapes home and ironed out some mutant tunes.
We went back into the studio and burned them to tape live and then I took it home to Stu-Stu-Studio and did the vocals and bought in Tom Dolas & Brigid Dawson to put the finish on.
Spice is always nice.
Mixed it all up in the cauldron and thus we have a strange brew indeed
Floating in the smoke we have:
A couple long jams, a couple short jams and a finale that’ll dump a bucket of ear worms on you
(reminiscent of “the axis”?)
Dip your toe in organ rock and roll
So without further ado
We present to you
“OFF COURSE”
An album wondering where the fuck are we and how did we get here
A signal dispatched out into the darkness
We are here
We are alive
And we are together
CHEERS NO EARS

'Danceteria' the album is a big, classy and playful farewell to 47 years of Marc and Dave making music as Soft Cell and features career-defining performances from our electronic pop legends. Reminiscent of Sparks and Pet Shop Boys and with lyrics Lady Gaga would kill for, the album takes you on a vivid journey through a day in early 80s New York, bouncing round the clock from night to bleary daybreak and headlong back into the club.
Marc provides an initial snapshot into the album: "'Danceteria' is a love letter to New York in the early 80's. The time we spent in New York - where we recorded our first 3 albums - shaped us both as artists and people. To celebrate this period is a fitting farewell to Dave Ball and the final Soft Cell studio album."
'Danceteria' is equally a tribute to the late, great Dave Ball. The final album is one of the last bodies of work Ball co-wrote and produced before his sad, untimely passing on the 22nd of October 2025. Almond led the obituaries, describing Dave as a "brilliant musical genius". The world's media followed, hailing him as an electronic music pioneer, plus music stars including Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe from the Pet Shop Boys, Mute Records' Daniel Miller, Cabaret Voltaire and Richard Norris from Dave's techno duo The Grid contributing an outpouring of elegiac praise. Dave finished 'Danceteria' two days before he passed away and it is in full tribute to him that the album release went ahead as planned.
It is also because of Dave's passing that 'Danceteria' simply has to be the last Soft Cell album, as Marc explains: 'There can be no more recordings of Soft Cell without Dave, it would not be possible. The sad reality is that Dave Ball was half of Soft Cell, and live work aside, I can't write Soft Cell songs without him."

'Quiet Storm' expands on their sound and scale as a sprawling, collaborative vision shaped with profound patience and intention, embedding their own coming-of-age story within a moving suite of cathartic abstraction. Songs allude to spirituality and the human condition, the tension between boldness and softness, ambition and persistent inner demons.
Speaking to the multidisciplinary nature of the project is the involvement of celebrated artist Glenn Ligon, whose work deals with Black identity and queerness. A central inspiration at the onset of recording, Ligon offered his work Figure #30 (2009) for the cover artwork, and following the completion of recording, he agreed to provide the project's name—an unprecedented gesture from the pioneering artist.
Listening to the final sequence, Ligon thought of "Quiet Storm," the 1970s radio format known for smooth, late-night programming with themes of life and love.
'Quiet Storm' brings the listener through various scenes, interludes, and arcs, marked by a sense that its movement is fluid and its characters are fleeting. Into-the-mirror monologues grapple with the existential and the immediate: survival, autonomy, purpose.
The album opens with the explosive, string-backed 'Vanity', featuring Grammy Award winner Axelle Fanyo. At first fixated on the crevices of a quiet room, “Vanity” unfurls under Fanyo's expressive soprano, traversing a wide emotional spectrum from sublime contemplation to poignant, heart-piercing pain.
Throughout the record, words spoken and sung are placed sparingly to powerful effect. '2MLN's beauty and catharsis is a collective slow march, featuring British-Nigerian artist Tony Njoku, with guitar and lead bass by Gabriel Evans, London's PIKE on drums, and Copenhagen's GB on keys and strings.
Heavy yet hopeful, Joshua Tarelle Reid and Joshua Inyang remind you of their journey so far. An appropriately cryptic and transportive outro for their open-ended opus, 'Quiet Storm' is a landmark level-up: self-produced, self-funded, and manifested out of sheer drive and conviction.
Through bent time and low-lit haze, undoubtedly, Space Afrika has arrived.

Entirely written by Dylan, the album was recorded at Magic Box studios over the past year. Anchored by the gravitational pull of his unmistakable vocal and longstanding relationship with the acoustic guitar, the 10-track set is gritty, raw and emotionally charged. A rousing, carousing blast of brass, blues, banjo, piano and classic, retrofutureproof, singalong songwriting. It marks a bold step forward for one of Scotland's most compelling voices.
Includes the singles 'Heaven Knows You're Lonely' and 'Got You On My Mind'.

Copenhagen-based multi-instrumentalists Jason Dungan and Johan Carøe didn’t set out to make an album. Instead, as the title ‘Routine’ suggests, they found their way there through a process of habitual making and listening, developing an intuitive musical language to reflect the dreamlike meanderings and creative play of life's quiet moments. ‘Routine’ blends pop orientated sounds, Avant-garde minimalism, folk and new age with the emotive depth of filmscore.
Their meeting was not entirely coincidental. Previously in bands such as Squares and Triangles, Jason Dungan has since recorded multiple albums under the moniker Blue Lake, including the lauded ‘Sun Arcs’, pursuing his passion for self-built percussion and multi-string instruments. Johan Carøe meanwhile is a composer whose film soundtrack work has seen him collaborate with Angelo Badalamenti, Arp, and Sofie Birch, at whose Andersabo residency (curated by Dungan) the pair first met, resulting in the highly praised album ‘Repair Techniques’ written by Birch and Carøe.
‘Routine’ emerged organically over many years against the backdrop of great personal change. As Carøe said goodbye to his father and welcomed his first child, the pair sent each other fragments of melodies and patterns, working up responses when time allowed to assemble a sonic palette that combined acoustic instrumentation of zither, clarinet, cello, saxophone (among others) with the textures of tape, drum machine and Yamaha DX7 synth. Inspired by the vulnerability and DIY ethos of Arthur Russell’s home recordings, the vision of labels like Disques de Crepescule, and the art pop, experimentation inherent to late ‘70s and early ‘80s recordings from NYC and Japan alike, Dungan and Carøe conjured new forms for their folk, leftfield pop and avant garde influences from the low-lit living rooms of Copenhagen and rural Sweden. “I’m very interested in the ways in which music and art emerge from our wider experiences as people, workers, parents and in the daydreaming activity of making music,” Dungan explains of a process which allowed the duo’s individual styles to drift apart and merge together seamlessly. “I think the process was definitely capturing moments in time, but over a long time,” Carøe adds. “It was a bit like improvisation, but with time stretched.”
The music floats with grace and humility, remaining sophisticated yet acutely introverted. Whether on ‘Clouds’, where soft layers of zither and clarinet are moved along by a featherlight bass riff and the hypnotic clip-clop of the primitive groovebox, or the gentle grandeur of cello rising and falling through ‘Routine 1’, the album reveals itself over 10 instrumental tracks, evoking the ineffable calm that descends when the light changes and the world turns inwards. The act of time passing became a key creative ingredient to the evolution of the album, enriched with the exciting challenge to transform their passing rounds of home recordings via a slow release musical dialogue. Jason found creative moments in the twilight hours to lay down zither, melodica, acoustic guitar to name but few, while Johan utilising “line-in and headphones” would manipulate, stretch and pitch Jason's melodic pathways during newly born naptimes.
Carøe rhythmically plucks and slides the stringed cello instrument, leaving palpable foundations on ‘Hymn’ and ‘Chords’, in a treated, stylistic approach akin to Mabe Fratti, while ‘Silence’ draws to a close with a gospel touch. Dungan’s harp-motion zither flourishes reveal more classical connotations on ‘Reunion' with inspiration of Bedroom Community’s Nico Muhly as organs rise with Moogs, culminating with a climatic choral outro from friend, mezzo-soprano Anna Caroline Olesen.
‘Routine’ then is their first collaboration, an album of deep and sincere reflection with inviting overtones that gesture with unrushed authenticity. A document of a new-found friendship that opens a window into the most personal of spaces, where the daily practices of music and life exist side-by-side to wondrous effect.

Both unique in their approach and thrilling in impact, the band’s music has been shown love by Stereogum, Rolling Stone UK and The Line of Best Fit among others. Their breakout moment came with the single “Bill Murray,” an incessantly catchy distillation of people on the internet believing Tom Hanks and Bill Murray are the same person. More recently, the glitchy and anthemic “Real Tree Lee” was an A-list record at BBC 6Music and had support from BBC Radio 1.
At both Brighton’s The Great Escape and SXSW in Austin this year the band were championed as one of the buzziest acts of the festival with snaking queues of people waiting hours to see them perform . A relentless touring schedule in 2025 saw them hone their status as festival headliners in waiting, picking up a global army of new fans and playing to huge crowds at Glastonbury, Green Man, End Of The Road and more. The band recently toured Japan where they were greeted by fans in homemade Adult DVD merch, played a series of sold-out shows and saw posts about their performances go viral with millions of views.
In the making of their exhilarating debut album, vocalist Harry Hanson and synth-player Greg Lonsdale, alongside Danny Blackburn (guitar/synth), Jake Williams (synth), Jonathan Newell (drums), and George Manson (bass), went harder on what was already working for them: witty observational songwriting based in real-life characters and a pulsating synth-punk sound perfect for both the rave and the mosh pit. Fusing together an intense musical workout with depictions of a motley crew of figures ranging from 5G conspiracy theorists to an existential cowboy, Adult DVD is the electrifying sound of a band exceeding their own expectations while going just as hard, if not harder than their adrenaline-fuelled live shows.
On Adult DVD Hanson and Lonsdale continue to take a screenwriter’s approach to songwriting, filling their lyrics with stories pulled from the outskirts of society yet painting a vivid and comic picture of modern Britain. “We don't take things too seriously,” Lonsdale explains. “The lyrics have got sillier, the songs have got sillier. We make music for people to enjoy, so let them have a laugh.”
Produced by the band at The Nave Studios Leeds , the general theme of the album is to let go and take life a little less seriously. “Cowboy On Aisle Three” conjures an image of a wrangler swapping the rodeo for a supermarket over a swaggering synth riff . It’s an EQ-pushing beast that merges an existential crisis with the band’s playful spirit and relentless pursuit of bangers. Speaking about the song, Hanson says: “I came up with the idea when I was in Lidl. I’m sure everyone has thought, ‘Imagine if I just went nuts now,’ to get out of doing the big shop.”
Adult DVD might favour fiction over facts but that’s not to say these songs don’t tap into something real. Album opener “Do As I Please” unpicks the myth of community spirit and zeroes in on the post-pandemic sensation of the self-serving individual. “World’s Best Boss,” meanwhile, rages against authority figures warped by tiny amounts of power (“I’m shaking your hand just because I get paid”) and the importance of establishing an identity outside work. Another hit of pure unbridled energy, the industrial clatter of “Jesus Christ Supercar” finds the band taking aim at life’s bullshitters all too quick to explain away their lack of adventure. It stands as the opposite to their song “Do Something,” one of a few occasions when Adult DVD tips its cap to the band’s older material. “‘Do Something’ was about somebody trying things,” Lonsdale explains. “‘Jesus Christ Supercar’ is about always putting an excuse in the way.”
Simmering with boredom, wasted time, scams and a preoccupation with death and sex, the Adult DVD universe is a place to escape to and also get lost. These are songs that untangle the complicated ways in which people find themselves living, mining both laughter and energy from thinking. “There isn't that much down time on the album,” Hanson says in reference to its pulsating energy and high BPM count. “It's got harder in both directions. It’s like the EPs but on steroids.”
Adult DVD closes with a two song salvo that pushes things to new heights. “Real Tree Lee” shows what happens when questioning the truth leads to falling down the “cretin side” of the internet and into a bog of conspiracy theories. “I remember my mate from school whose dad used to make his own diesel in his shed,” says Lonsdale. “There was another guy who had loads of guns, too. We were interested in writing about these old boys with wild shit going on and where they go when they spend too much time online.”
“Rolling Face”—an acid house exploration of a wild night out that ends with its main character out of his mind — brings the album to a close. Its frantic pace, heavy breakbeats, and chanted vocals captures the band’s pulsating live show, concluding a journey that hurtles out of the screen and into real life. “The album starts in the evening and by the end of it, it's like it’s 3am,” says Hanson.
That release, from the twin streams of mundanity and chaos of modern life, makes Adult DVD one of the most entertaining and essential albums of the year.

Die Anstalt sound like no one else, even if everyone hears something different. Depending on who you ask, you'll catch traces of Malaria!, Boy Harsher, DAF, early EBM, synth-punk, or X-Mal Deutschland. Then there's the surf guitar, a detail that shouldn't work but somehow holds the whole thing together. The result is theatrical, confrontational, hypnotic, and relentlessly physical. They write slogans that stick. They're appropriately furious. Live, they're less a concert than a controlled explosion.
Their songs give voice to generational exhaustion, the dystopian absurdities of the present, warmongers, the manosphere, and the constant sense that the world is coming apart at the seams. Somehow, they also sound unmistakably like Berlin. That doesn't happen often, maybe once a decade, if we're lucky.
Most of all, Die Anstalt are proof that beneath the noise, the algorithms, and the endless churn of industry discourse, something vital still burns: rage, conviction, and hope in equal measure. At their core, they are a punk band. No posturing. No compromise. No messing around. They don't ask for permission. They burn it all down.

Throughout the album, Diermaier’s percussion serves as both foundation and driving force. His playing is entirely intuitive, developed in real time through improvisation and close interaction with the other musicians. Initial sessions as a trio, with Elke Drapatz operating the drum effects and trigger module and Dirk Dresselhaus on bass, were recorded in the latter’s ZONE studio in Berlin over a day and a half, before Uwe Bastiansen and Ilpo Väisänen added overdubs in Hamburg and Kuopio, Finland. The music captures moments as they happened, preserving the initial impulse rather than refining it into predetermined forms.
The titular “Gugaruz” introduces the album’s approach, transforming field recordings and percussion into a shifting landscape of metallic textures, resonant tones and atmospheric electronics. Next comes the expansive “Big Field”, inspired in part by the vast agricultural landscapes surrounding Diermaier’s home in Brandenburg. Built on a foundation of timpani-sized toms and metronomic cymbal, this fifteen minute psychedelic journey rides a hypnotic bassline through synth scree, languid guitar and reversed vocals, roaring into a crescendo before the melodic elements collapse in on themselves for the finale.
Elsewhere, “Saurer Regen” sees funky breaks and jazzy syncopation buried under an avalanche of guitar distortion and feedback, while “Space Agent” combines primal rhythmic drive with psychedelic and exploratory elements. The second half of the album moves into more spacious territory: “Yesterday’s Gift” and “Seeding” explore atmosphere and texture without abandoning the rhythmic sensibility that underpins the entire work.
Closing piece “Schleuse” returns to the album’s fascination with physical environments and found sound. Built from recordings made on the metal railings of a watergate near Diermaier’s home and expanded through additional harbour recordings, the track transforms elements of landscape and infrastructure into music.
‘Gugaruz’ stays true to the Faustian ideals, rejecting fixed structure in favour of a nonhierarchical musical collaboration built on listening and shared exploration. Shaped by the dialogue between Diermaier’s intuitive rhythmic approach, the interplay between Dresselhaus, Drapatz, Bastiansen and Väisänen and the use of the studio as an instrument, the album captures inspiration at its source, preserving the immediacy, energy and unpredictability of the moment in which it was created.

When it followed in the December of the same year, the album ‘The Sound Of…’ was an immensely satisfying and beguiling mix of classic songwriting, immaculate production, and blending of rock and soul. The album was also singled out by critics as one of the year’s very best. ‘The Guardian’ newspaper awarded it a maximum 5 stars while ’The Times’’s critic commented: “the monumental climax to the seven-minute-long 'You Do' provides a fitting end both to the album and to a relationship that shook so hard that perhaps it had to shatter.”

More than three decades later 'Pro War' is a work of supreme irony and a dark inversion of John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s famous slogan, “War Is Over! If You Want It”. Written against the backdrop of Rwanda, the Gulf War and Bosnia, the album explored not only the machinery of conflict itself, but humanity’s recurring attraction to it.
Globo said: “We made 'Pro War' in 1995 and we were reacting to what we saw around us. Everything has changed since then, and yet it’s all somehow the same.” - Absurdist and intentionally darkly comic, 'Pro War' now feels as relevant as ever: a disorientating broadcast from an age of propaganda, conflict and media overload that never really ended.
The Norwich-London force that is Globo emerged in the mid-1990s as one of the UK underground’s most singular electronic acts, fusing sample collage, transmitted media, breakbeats, found sound, cinematic melody and rhythmic vocal montages into a sound that felt both human and eerily technological. While often mentioned alongside contemporaries such as Underworld, Globo occupied a far more fractured, satirical and confrontational space. Decades on, their work endures as an eerily accurate blueprint for the world that followed.

The NC quartet have built their identity the old-fashioned way: loud rehearsals, instinctive collaboration, and live shows that turned curious locals into committed followers. They established a voice rooted in tension and movement: post-hardcore urgency, shoegaze atmosphere & guitar-centered unpredictability. Produced by J. Robbins, the album channels the live intensity without blunting its edges.

Following 2023’s 'Long Light', among his most collaborative, song-forward albums to date, McIlwain returns to his minimalist roots for the towering 10th Lusine full-length, 'Melting Days'. Ten songs in conversation with loss and transition, defined by elemental layers and ascending loops that engulf his signature rhythms and beat patterns in pure radiance. “When you’re moving through grief, it’s as if you’re watching your previous life get foggier and foggier,” says McIlwain. While he didn’t set out to make a journey record, 'Melting Days' takes that feeling to its spiritual end, from catharsis to clarity.

All this fame and fortune, was it really all that great? The world saw them as an overnight success, who had come from nowhere. But they knew from whence they had come. Perhaps that’s what kept them grounded.’ Hunter Davies, the only authorised biographer of The Beatles, revisits his treasured 39 notebooks filled with remarkable interviews to explore the lives of John, Paul, George and Ringo as they were growing up and coming of age.
Drawing on a wealth of never-before-revealed, intimate material, and his own experience as a boy of similar age from a working-class Northern background, Hunter now tells the story of where they came from, what it was like, how it shaped their hopes and aspirations. Hunter spent three years with The Beatles, visiting all their homes, and each of them visiting his. He also spent time with their parents, school friends, teachers, girlfriends, members of the Quarry Men and many others from their inner circle.
Their conversations often harked back to the War, with memories of air-raid shelters and rationing, to the NHS coming in, the eleven plus and grammar schools, and council house life in the 1950s. We all know what they became famous for, but here Hunter takes us into the much more private world of their formative years, for this colourful, richly detailed, personal portrait of the young boys who were destined to come together and revolutionise music and pop culture.

David Bowie: Music Lover is a compelling mix of personal insight and expert commentary, jointly written by Bowie’s lifelong friend, collaborator and listening companion, Geoff MacCormack, and Jérôme Soligny, author of the seminal Rainbowman, who knew Bowie for 25 years. From Classical to Britpop, Electronica to Delta Blues, the book explores Bowie’s eclectic playlist, redolent of the decades he lived through but also of his deep interest in all genres and eras of music. It’s a story that begins with Little Richard on Bowie’s childhood Dansette record player, and ends with Kendrick Lamar, a go-to listen during the recording of Blackstar, released just two days before he died.
An indispensable guide for Bowie fans and all Music Lovers.

Agatha Is Dead! began as a post-punk experiment between longtime friends Lilly and Noah, who first made music together during their school years. Drawing influence from Joy Division, The Cure, Molchat Doma and Fontaines D.C., their sound is defined by urgency, tension and atmosphere. The addition of drummer Joey Ramone Hansen — bringing a grunge and pop-punk bite — alongside Arthur on bass, completed the line-up.

Lyrics appear in English, Urdu and Japanese, while historic Iranian samples and guzheng recordings sit alongside Green’s own meticulously processed instrumentation, woven together across recording sessions spanning LA, Tokyo, London and beyond with a significant portion of the record completed at Neil Young’s legendary Broken Arrow Ranch in California. It’s a record that represents the culmination of over 25 years as an artist and DJ. A reminder, if ever one was needed, of Bonobo’s enduring influence — newly felt by a generation rediscovering ’90s genres through a contemporary lens. That duality — introspective composer and club-focused selector — sits at the heart of a body of work full of depth, detail and emotion: both beautiful and driving; as ambitious and forward-thinking as ever

Whereas his debut EP, 'Away' has deep connections to Jaime’s home in rural Kent, 'Keep Stepping!' is an EP with the city in mind. Inspired by Jaime's time living in South London, the EP takes inspiration from London’s soundsystem sonics with Rosso mixing in bright melodies and dreamlike atmospherics to create a sound of his own. Much like the hum of the capital, there is an underlying groove that flows through it, whilst Jaime’s playful production keeps the music sounding buoyant and fresh. Influenced by the exuberant atmosphere of summer in the city, 'Keep Stepping!' embraces positivity and the importance of getting out of your own head and engaging with the community around you.

'The Third World-Underground' captures a rare convergence of three singular musical voices: Don Cherry’s nomadic imagination, Abdullah Ibrahim’s deeply rooted South African lyricism, and Carlos Ward’s muscular alto saxophone. By 1972 when this magical album was recorded, Cherry and Ibrahim had already spent a decade redefining jazz by pushing beyond its foundations and embracing a broader, global musical language.
Cherry—who had helped revolutionise jazz alongside Ornette Coleman—was in constant search of new musical pathways. Drawing inspiration from the traditional sounds of Turkey, India, Africa, and beyond, he cultivated a fluid, borderless approach that expanded far beyond the trumpet, incorporating voice, percussion, and communal improvisation into his work. Ibrahim brought an equally profound sensibility. A spiritual heir to Duke Ellington, shaped by Cape Town gospel, township jive, and the emotional weight of exile, he transformed the piano into an instrument capable of both celebration and lament.
Having first crossed paths in the mid-1960s, the musicians shared a deep mutual affinity that culminated in this performance. Recording under a name that reflected the era’s growing decolonization movements, the trio created a fearless, boundary-defying statement across seven hypnotic pieces, including 'Don’s Song' and 'Bra Joe From Kilimanjaro'. The music unfolds as a continuous conversation: Ibrahim’s cyclical piano figures provide an emotional foundation while Cherry and Ward drift, soar, and chant in ecstatic unison, searching collectively for new ground.
Originally released in Japan in 1974 on Trio Records, the album was never reissued on vinyl, gradually attaining cult status among collectors and fans of Don Cherry and Dollar Brand alike. As Jacques Denis writes in the new liner notes, “More than half a century later, the music in this album, emancipated from all preordained order, still surprises, offering a delight of the present moment that lingers long after the needle leaves the groove.”
Freed from convention, 'The Third World-Underground' remains a restless and deeply human work of collective discovery whose resonance continues to unfold with every listen.

Written at the foot of a mountain, a short walk from the sea, it sets aside the synths of her earlier records for the warmer textures of woodwinds, saxophone, Hammond organ and piano, with acoustic guitar holding everything in place. These are quiet, unhurried songs about intimacy and perception, about how two people can share the same moment and remember it differently, lit throughout by a dry humour that keeps them honest. Led by the single 'Illinois Again', it is an album that doesn't rush to explain itself, and is all the more rewarding for it.
For anyone who loves Feist, Aldous Harding or Laura Marling.

Translating the album's title into Portuguese, Tempos Difíceis Sempre Passam reflects both the enduring message at the heart of the original record and the creative dialogue between Kokoroko's expansive musical world and Brazil's rich, genre-defying music scene. The four-track collection brings together a handpicked group of artists whose individual approaches blur the boundaries between a variety of genres and contemporary Brazilian sounds.
To be released digitally and on limited vinyl, the EP also sees the return of acclaimed artist Luci Pina, whose artwork for Tuff Times Never Last is reimagined for this new chapter, creating a visual thread between the original album and its Brazilian counterpart.
Leading the announcement is Never Lost (Luedji Luna Remix), available now on all digital platforms. The celebrated Brazilian singer-songwriter brings her unmistakable warmth and emotive vocal sensibility to the track, offering a beautifully understated reinterpretation that deepens the song's themes of hope, resilience and togetherness.
Completing the EP are three further remixes from across Brazil's vibrant musical landscape. Onome of Kokoroko joins forces with acclaimed guitarist Nyron Higor for a richly textured rework of Da Du Dah, while producer Aleh Ferreira delivers a rhythm-driven reinterpretation of the same track. Closing the collection, Bruno Berle transforms Closer To Me with his signature blend of intimate songwriting, Brazilian groove and experimental pop sensibilities.
Together, the remixes offer fresh perspectives on Tuff Times Never Last, extending the album's spirit of optimism while celebrating the creative connections between London and Brazil.

Through an episodic, mosaic format critically acclaimed author Tom Doyle takes readers through the ride of a lifetime, from Starr’s brushes with death as a child bought up in poverty, through to dizzying heights of fame and success with The Beatles and beyond. By examining pivotal moments, anecdotes and cautionary tales, we see Starr soar as part of the biggest band in the world - and then try and cope with life outside of it: a film career, misadventures with friends, children’s TV narrator, furniture designer, marriage to a Bond girl, before eventually finding peace and sobriety as one of the elder statesmen of rock. So much more than another Beatles related biography, we follow Starr’s career far beyond the rose-tinted sixties, through the various addictions and career left turns in the seventies and eighties, before reaching the 1990’s, his legacy and reputation intact.
The life of Richard Starkey is long overdue a proper inspection and this book - with exclusive new interviews conducted by Doyle with, amongst others, Starr himself - provides a never-before-seen level of detail that will delight hardcore fans and curious readers alike. Ringo: A Fab Life - hilarious, moving, insightful and constantly surprising - is the definitive account of one of the greatest living musicians and the uncontested best drummer in The Beatles.

The project was originally commissioned by Unsound in an effort to match up Polish and British artists. Jankowiak had already released 'SHAME', an album that reflected on the impact of Polish rap in the late 1990s and early 2000s, juxtaposing these elements with the aesthetics of UK club music, so presented himself as the obvious figurehead. Miller, Duffus and Scout were at the top of his wish list of collaborators and before long, the quartet were on their way to his home city of Gdynia for a residency, where they began to figure out the harmony between their respective approaches. It was planned as a live performance at first, with 2K88 overseeing and corralling the ideas from each of his allies. Miller, who is widely acclaimed for his unique fusion of rap, noise and ambient music on albums such as last year's 'Joseph, What Have You Done?', would add poetic, inclement contemplations; Duffus, whose weightless, genre-blending productions have seen her release on AD93 and tour with indie rap heavyweight MIKE, provided cloudy but self-assured vocal hooks; while Scout, a producer and performer who shivered between gothic pop and medieval ambiance on 2023's 'The Heart of the Anchoress' offered haunted textures and desolate chorals.
"I think in the back of all our minds was a possible release if the collaboration worked out well," laughs Unsound's Mat Schulz. "And of course it did." After the live performance in Kraków, the four artists turned the dream into a reality, projecting the same ideas onto 10 fully developed tracks. And on the opener, 'Everything Always Changes', the concept solidifies, with coarse noise rubbing against Scout and Duffus's airy vocal tones and booming analog bass provoking tension before Miller's familiar voice cuts through the clouds. "There's a war where the sea meets the sky," he sibilates, "where the lines blur into fantastical dissonance." His imagery matches Jankowiak's faded soundscape, bringing to mind a half-remembered, long-promised history lost to time and politics. "It's trapped in this romantic haze," says Miller. "It conjures images of fictional seaside towns, ghosts of past grandeur living through imaginary romances in the present." And his voice returns on 'Creeping Thistle', AutoTuned to curve gracefully around sparsely populated, burned out terrain: ominous synths, wailing police sirens and reverb that seems to swallow everything around it.
On 'The Quiet's Song' familiar R&B hits and stabs are isolated and surrounded by ominous negative space that Scout impedes on with her reserved incantation. Loose, casual piano themes wisp through the frame like smoky exhalations and those sirens still groan away somewhere in the distance. The various threads are knotted into a more legible form on 'Poetic Fallacy', when Jankowiak's decelerated beats overlap with heartbreaking half-speed melodies and Duffus's elegant hooks. Scout takes the mic for a moment and a broken de-tuned guitar picks out the remnants of a riff. But it's the aptly-titled 'Salto' that gives the album its nucleus, fixating on Jankowiak's all-important visual reference and using its imagery to power a genuine pop miniature, a gauzy, abstract modern R&B anthem that's as impressionistic and suggestive as Konwicki's's film.

The theme of this album - Kevin's ninth, Dexys' seventh - gradually emerged as the songs progressed. "I don’t remember when it happened, but I just thought, 'Hang on, these are all love songs, of different kinds',” he says. "I knew then: Call it 'LOVE'." These are love songs, but not of the usual pop style. Not will-she-won't-she romance, but something more emotional and all-encompassing. Those small moments that illustrate a rollercoaster sweep. "Everyone came at this project with love," he says. To tell a lifetime of different loves. A love life.
'LOVE' is also their first album under the Dexys Midnight Runners name since 1985’s 'Don’t Stand Me Down'. “We realised a couple of years ago that some young people know Dexys Midnight Runners from ‘Geno’ and ‘Come On Eileen,’ but some that we spoke to, were confused by the name, Dexys. And some, thought Dexys was a different outfit to Dexys Midnight Runners.,” says Kevin. “Since Dexys returned in 2012, we’ve always felt what we do is worthy of a young audience, so it was a no brainer to revert to Dexys Midnight Runners”.
Those familiar with Kevin’s wonderful autobiography, Bless Me Father, will recognise some of the people in these songs: his dad, his brother, his first love, more recent romances. But this is a Dexys Midnight Runners album, the group of players where Kevin began his music career, and where he works best. So his lyrics are explored and highlighted, lifted to greater heights by the songwriting and creativity of long-time collaborators Sean Read, Mike Timothy and Jim Paterson. There are strings, too, arranged by Brian Irving, originally from Belfast.
Fellow Belfast man, DJ and musician David Holmes, is the album's producer. Holmes had long wanted to work with Kevin and Dexys: “They were the first act I was ever truly obsessed with, the first I saw live”. David's older sister bought him a Walkman when he was 11, and his first cassette was Searching For the Young Soul Rebels. When Kevin sent him a demo of ‘Once A Man, Twice a Child’ (written with Sean soon after Dexys' triumphant 2024 Glastonbury appearance), David was captivated. "His song writing is so strong," he says.

The compilation was originally released on CD in 2007 and presents an incredible array of inventive and often previously unheard music from the period 1979-1984. Now Chapter Music updates the compilation with six never before reissued bonus tracks, plus new liner notes, photos and layout.
This is a fantastically rich and dynamic time in Australian music history, a time when Australia stepped out of the shadows of overseas influence and asserted its own musical identity for perhaps the first time.
'Can’t Stop It! II' features tracks that have now become touchstones in Australia's post-punk history, including 'Lamborghini' by Severed Heads and proto Oz-rap classic 'Do the Job' by Use No Hooks, plus early works by the likes of Dead Can Dance’s Lisa Gerrard and Hunters & Collectors’ Mark Seymour.
Bonus tracks include the astounding 'How' by Brisbane's This Five Minutes, which pre-dates The Stone Roses' 'Fool's Gold' by at least five years, and Tasmania's own performance punk Chainmale with his outlandish Freakout.

"I spent all my teenage years playing either guitar or drums in various punk and rock outfits around the Welsh valleys, but around that time I was also getting seriously into older stuff, Dylan, The Velvet Underground and the like. Through those cheap compilation CDs you could get then, I found that a common influence amongst these guys was pre-war delta and country blues, as well as Appalachian music. Eventually I stumbled upon Mississippi John Hurt, Skip James and Roscoe Holcomb, and they became the holy trinity of musicians I so wanted to able to play like. Eventually, I tracked down a blues man in Cardiff who could teach me and it was in studying these guys that I was introduced to John Fahey and the whole American Primitive thing.
"I’ve always loved being in bands and the sonic chemistry it produces, but at the same time it’s always a bit of a compromise that those sounds in my head have to pass through and be translated by someone else’s. Sometimes it can be for the better, but sometimes not so much. American Primitive was the first time it had occurred to me that you didn’t really need anything more than one solo instrument to fully express yourself, especially when those feelings and moods refuse to be articulated in words, sometimes it's a mystery to yourself what it is you’re expressing. I still play in hard rock and punk bands and love to wail and hit my guitar with a complete lack of any subtlety or nuance, but in the end I think that all these things are really part of a circle, feeding back into itself. It’s all just a lineup of strange mutations."

Side A: Debuted live and propelled into viral status after a blistering Coachella performance, 'Na Dem' ('It’s Them') finally receives its definitive studio version - a fierce indictment of the hypocrisy and greed of the global ruling class. Featuring Tom Morello of Rage Against The Machine, the track fuses Egypt 80’s incendiary horns with Morello’s weaponized guitar work, creating a powerful fusion of Afrobeat and radical rock rebellion —a track designed not just to move feet, but to spark global reflection and resistance.
Side B: On the flip side, Seun Kuti dives into a pan- African sonic dialogue with 'Problems', creating a rhythmic and spiritual bridge between Lagos and Kingston. Featuring Jamaican reggae and dancehall artist Kabaka Pyramid, the track pairs conscious lyrical flow with Seun’s gritty vocals over rolling percussion, a propulsive bassline, and hypnotic rhythm produced by Femi Koleoso. “Problems” addresses the systemic challenges facing oppressed communities worldwide in a heavy, grooving anthem of resilience.
A collector's essential, this 7" vinyl is more than just a musical release - it is a global protest manifesto pressed into wax.
