Looking Glass

The album ‘LOOKING GLASS’ comes four years after the release of Alela Diane’s critically acclaimed fifth studio album ‘CUSP’, described by the Guardian as ‘outstanding’, and the reissue of Alela Diane’s mythical second album, ‘THE PIRATE’S GOSPEL’, which has gone on to sell over 100,000 copies.

    Looking Glass

    The First Real Target EP

Looking Glass release new EP "The First Real Target", the follow-up to last year’s debut mini-album "Fish Fowl Flood".

Initially a recording project for My Sad Captains’ Jim Wallis, Looking Glass had done a live session for BBC 6 Music before they had played a gig, after Marc Riley heard a promo for the original cassette-only release of Fish Fowl Flood on cult Italian label Best Kept Secret. The mini-album was subsequently released on CD by Sounds Experience and the band played their first shows as a four-piece in London at the end of 2009 to coincide with its re-release. "Fish Fowl Flood" received radio support from Steve Lamacq, Gideon Coe, Marc Riley, Tom Robinson and John Hillcock on Radio 2, 6 Music and XFM.

These four new songs were recorded in the first few months of 2010 and continue in the vein of melodic, affecting songs that fuse conventional instrumentation with atmospheric samples and found sounds.

Jim also plays drums/keys for London-based indie rockers My Sad Captains, who released their debut album in 2009 on Stolen Recordings (Pete & the Pirates, Let’s Wrestle).
