Ian Dury And The Music Students

4000 Weeks’ Holiday - 2026 Reissue

Released in 1984, this was the second album released by Polydor and the first and only to be billed to Ian Dury & The Music Students. Songwriting duties were shared between Ian Dury, Russell Hardy, Rod Melvin and a young American songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Michael McEvoy.

Whilst performed by effectively a new line up there were many familiar names who worked on ‘4000 Weeks’ Holiday’. Though Chas Jankel did not write any of the songs, he did play lead guitar as a guest whilst Ed Speight and Geoff Castle, who had played on Dury's seminal New Boots and Panties!! LP in 1977, guested on guitar and Moog synthesizer. The sessions also featured celebrated reggae/ska trombone player Rico Rodriguez MBE, whilst most of the recordings were performed by the 'Music Students', made up of McEvoy, Rhys-Jones, drummer Tag Lamche and saxophonist Jamie Talbot.

The single 'Really Glad You Came' was released and the band performed on National TV inc The Tube. The album also contains 'Peter the Painter' written on request from British Pop artist Peter Blake, Dury’s former teacher at London's Royal College of Art. Blake was having an exhibition at The Tate Gallery, London and asked Dury to compose a theme tune for it. 'Peter the Painter' was that theme tune.

The cover art, one of the last ever designed by Barney Bubbles featured Ian Dury with the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (CND) logo (the peace sign) into his hair – in 1984 Ian was an official face for the campaign group in Britain.

Ian Dury

Lord Upminster - 2026 Reissue

Released in 1981, the album followed his final album on Stiff ‘Laughter’ (with The Blockheads) and was Ian’s first album with Polydor Records. At a suggestion of Island Records founder Chris Blackwell, Ian Dury flew to the Bahamas to record ‘Lord Upminster at Compass Point Studios in Nassau, Bahamas, newly reunited with his long-time collaborator Chaz Jankel. There they were to work with reggae rhythm duo Sly Dunbar (drums) and Robbie Shakespeare (bass guitar) and keyboardist Tyrone Downie, while backing vocals came from amongst others no less than Tina Weymouth of Talking Heads and Tom Tom Club fame, along with her sister Laura Weymouth.

The album covers a diverse range of musical styles reflecting Dury's influences and background in pub rock, early rock and roll and British music hall whilst also taking in funk and post disco rhythms and is notable for featuring a Sly Dunbar composition in ‘Girls (Watching)’.

There was also not least the single which was deemed controversial enough to be banned from the airwaves ‘Spasticus (Autisticus)’ which was Ian’s protest against the International Year of Disabled Persons, which he considered to be patronising and insensitive. Years later the now critically lauded song was broadcast live worldwide during the opening ceremony of the 2012 Summer Paralympics, performed by Orbital and members of the Graeae Theatre Company.

Parliament

Osmium (Deluxe)

Demon Records are proud to present 'Osmium (Deluxe)' - the first recordings credited to the funk-rock ensemble Parliament-Funkadelic.

Produced by Ruth Copeland, 'Osmium' offers up a diverse bag of tricks comprising gospel, soul, funk, rock and country arrangements with accompaniment ranging from heavy electric guitar fuzz, acoustic serenity and even bagpipes.

Since its re-release in 1990, 'Osmium' has been distributed numerous times by various labels in America, Europe and Japan under alternate titles – including Rhenium and First Thangs. A number of these reissues have featured material that was not included on the original album, such as unreleased tracks and singles that were taken from the same time.

This in-demand, black-vinyl version of the Record Store Day 2024 sell-out compiles together everything from that period 2 LPs and includes; the full 'Osmium' album, the single sides that never made the album, unreleased tracks, demos and jams – all of which made their debut vinyl appearance as one package in 2024.

Many of these recordings are still as far-out as they sounded when first released. However, the tracks here represent the genesis of what would become P-Funk and the entity that would give the world ground-breaking albums 'Maggot Brain' (1971), 'Mothership Connection' (1975), and 'One Nation Under a Groove' (1978). An essential addition to anyone’s collection.

Nick Heyward

It includes the singles 'Kite' and 'He Doesn't Love You Like I Do', both fan favourites and still regularly featured in Nick's live performances.

On eye-catching blue vinyl, at Nick's suggestion Tangled will be released with a new front sleeve, shot by renowned photographer Lawrence Watson at the same session but previously only used on a 'promo only' CD. It includes the singles 'The World' and 'Rollerblade®' - the latter was released as part of the 'A Hard Day's Nick' E.P., tellingly featuring three faithful and energetic covers of Beatles' songs, all of which appear on '1993-1998 The Epic & Creation Years'.

The Apple Bed - 2025 Reissue

In a move which would have surprised many at the time, Nick's sixth solo album 'The Apple Bed' was originally released in August 1997 on Creation Records - though not on LP. As with 'Tangled', Demon Records will be making it available on (apple) green vinyl for the very first time. Among other things, Creation - and particularly their biggest act, Oasis - was closely associated with Britpop, a movement that sought to emulate concise, well-crafted songs of the Beat era thirty years earlier. A path that Nick had been following successfully for many years, as is evident on the singles included here, 'Today', 'The Man You Used To Be' and 'Stars In Her Eyes'.

T. Rex

I'm Dazed' W/ 'Billy Super Duper

Demon Music Group are delighted to announce the recent discovery and forthcoming release of ‘I’m Dazed’- a previously unreleased song by Marc Bolan and T. Rex!

Recorded in Munich between the ‘Bolan’s Zip Gun’ and ‘Futuristic Dragon’ sessions, the yearning ‘I’m Dazed’ comes from yet another phase of creative transition for the restless Bolan muse. With its feet planted in the rocky roots of ‘Bolan’s Zip Gun’, ‘I’m Dazed’ also looks ahead to the soulful stylings of ‘Futuristic Dragon’, with a fantastically R&B influenced vocal from Marc.

The unearthing of ‘I’m Dazed’ has proved a mystery for Bolanphiles - apparently, nobody was aware of its existence. From newly discovered studio tapes from the period, we learn that the track was first laid down at the famed Château d'Hérouville studios near Paris in early 1975. Moving on from France to Germany, T.Rex recorded this second version on 22ndApril at Musicland Studios in Munich. With Marc producing and ‘Zinc Alloy’s Reinhold Mack (Sparks, Queen, AC/DC, The Rolling Stones) in the engineer’s chair, the track features the classic mid-‘70s T. Rex lineup of Marc, Steve Currie, Gloria Jones, Davey Lutton and Dino Dines.

For this release the original studio track has been mixed from master tapes by acclaimed musician and sound wizard (and T. Rex superfan!) Steven Wilson and comes backed with a previously unreleased, also recently unearthed studio take (Take 2) of Bolan rarity ‘Billy Super Duper’.

TRACK LISTING

1. I'm Dazed
2. Billy Super Duper (Take 2)

Sparks

Big Beat - 2025 Reissue

Released in October 1976, after Ron and Russell had moved from the UK back to the US, ‘Big Beat’ left their established backing band behind, ditching the baroque stylings of Indiscreet for something all-together more back-to-basics, with the recording overseen by producer Rupert Holmes. Still three years away from topping the US chart with his single 'Escape (The Piña Colada Song)', 1976 also saw him contributing to Barbra Streisand's multi-million selling soundtrack to The Star Is Born. Quite where an energetic and muscular Sparks' collection that sat closer to the emerging Punk scene sits in all of this is open to debate.

TRACK LISTING

1. Big Boy
2. I Want To Be Like Everybody Else
3. Nothing To Do
4. I Bought The Mississippi River
5. Fill-Er-Up
6. Everybody's Stupid
7. Throw Her Away (And Get A New One)
8. Confusion
9. Screwed Up

Terry Hall

Laugh - Deluxe Dinked Archive Edition

Deluxe 2LP Edition of Terry Hall’s second solo album pressed on Red Vinyl exclusively for Dinked. Includes the singles ‘Ballad of a Landlord’ and ’I Saw the Light’.

Features an alternate sleeve and includes new liner notes by journalist Pete Paphides, including reflections from Damon Albarn, Ian Broudie and Stephen Duffy.

Originally released in 1997 on the Southsea Bubble Company label, Terry Hall's Laugh, followed his acclaimed debut with a blend of wit, melancholy, and melody that marked him as one of Britain’s most distinctive voices.

Much of Laugh was co-written with former Smiths guitarist Craig Gannon, with further collaborations from a stellar cast including Stephen Duffy, Sean O'Hagan (The High Llamas), and Damon Albarn of Blur—who had previously worked with Hall on his 1995 Rainbows EP. The album was produced by Hall himself, alongside Gannon and Cenzo Townshend, and has since gained cult status for its sharp songwriting and intimate, understated arrangements.

This special edition expands Laugh across two discs:
Disc One: The original studio album, newly mastered by Phil Kinrade at AIR Studios.
Disc Two: B-sides, live recordings, and acoustic versions—all appearing on vinyl for the first time.

STAFF COMMENTS

It also includes a cover of Ted Rundgren's "I Saw The Light" (IMO better than the original!) And being a Dinked Edition it's beautifully packaged with a bonus disc of added extras too.

Invictus: The Definitive Collection

Invictus Records is one of the legendary soul music labels from 1960/70s America. Founded in 1969 by the legendary songwriting and production team Holland–Dozier–Holland (Brian Holland, Lamont Dozier, and Eddie Holland). After leaving Motown Records over royalty and creative disputes, they established Invictus (along with its sister label Hot Wax Records) to continue producing music with greater artistic and financial control.

Invictus quickly became known for its polished, infectious sound — a continuation of the trio’s classic Motown style but often with a slightly funkier and more mature edge. The label was home to several major artists and hits, including: Freda Payne ('Band of Gold') Chairmen of the Board ('Give Me Just a Little More Time') and The Glass House ('Crumbs Off the Table').

By the mid-70s, both Invictus and Hot Wax ceased operations, but their influence and catalogue remain significant today, celebrated for their crucial role in the evolution of post-Motown soul and early '70s pop.

Tim's Listening Party

Demon presents the first official compilation from Tim Burgess celebrating Tim’s Listening Party. “I’d done Charlatans listening parties and some solo album listening parties, and as the Twitter followers grew, I’d repeat it and do it again and again. It was maybe about a week before being told that we were going to go into a lockdown before we actually did something. I saw all the TV stuff, all the kind of crazy things that were happening and thought if there’s going to be a lockdown, there’s going to be something that I can do.” - Tim Burgess

Available as a 62 track 4CD Deluxe Packaging set and as a 24 track 2LP, these compilations bring together highlights from the 1,278 Listening Parties
that took place. The parties themselves were an eclectic mix of genres and eras, and the compilation reflects that with Suede, New Order, The Chemical Brothers, Sparks, The Breeders, The Lovely Eggs, John Grant, Joan As Police Woman and The Charlatans.

Within the top 100 listening parties, artists reflected on the compilation include Iron Maiden, Liam Gallagher, Paul McCartney, John Lennon, The Libertines, MGMT, Dexys Midnight Runners, The Specials and Belle & Sebastian. The
booklet also includes an interview conducted by Danielle Perry with Tim Burgess, detailing the cultural importance of the Listening Party during lockdown.

STAFF COMMENTS

Barry says: What a collection! A truly stylistically diverse selection of some of the greatest tracks from some of the greatest albums of all time, collected together as a lovely reminder of Tim's legendary listening parties that kept so many of us listening to music together during lockdown. Win-win.

STAFF COMMENTS

Barry says: If there's one thing I don't need to tell you about the Pixies live in Brixton, it's that it features the Pixies, playing live in Brixton. What I could tell you is that it sounds great, and is a stunning looking vinyl box or an 8Cd (!?) boxset.. and has all those Pixies tunes on it that are brilliant, but more live than on the records. It's THE PIXIES, LIVE and it's obviously brilliant.
