A Momentary Lapse Of Reason - 2019 Remix

The release of ‘The Later Years’ project in 2019 gave an opportunity for a fresh overview of the ‘A Momentary Lapse Of Reason’ album, originally released in 1987. By returning to some of Richard Wright's original keyboard takes, and by re-recording new drum tracks with Nick Mason, producers David Gilmour and Bob Ezrin have restored a better creative balance between the three Pink Floyd members.

The album also showcases new and updated artwork with a previously unused image from the original photo shoot featuring the iconic beds on the beach.

        Relics - 2018 Remastered Edition

Pink Floyd re-release their 1971 compilation album ‘RELICS’ on heavyweight 180-gram vinyl. Remastered in 2018 by James Guthrie, Joel Plante and Bernie Grundman. This re-release comes almost 50 years since the original pressing.

‘RELICS’, Pink Floyd’s first ‘compilation’ album, includes singles, B-sides, tracks from their first three albums ‘The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn’, ‘A Saucerful of Secrets’ and ‘More’. Also, the then-previously unreleased Roger Waters song, Biding My Time, recorded in July 1969 and first released on ‘Relics’ in May 1971. ‘Relics’ was the first album to include Arnold Layne and See Emily Play, which previously had only been released as singles, and the original studio recording of Careful with That Axe, Eugene, the B-side of Point Me At The Sky in 1968.

Keeping true to the original artwork, the sleeve features the black and white drawings by Nick Mason, carrying the iconic subtitle ‘A Bizarre Collection of Antiques & Curios’. All tracks are the original stereo versions, which sit alongside the Syd Barrett-era, mono mixed singles Arnold Layne and See Emily Play.

The Final Cut (2016) - Vinyl Edition

Over the past year, Pink Floyd Records has released the entire studio collection as stereo remastered versions on heavyweight 180g vinyl. All are mastered from the original analogue studio tapes with album artwork faithfully reproduced.

Released originally in 1983, ‘The Final Cut’ was another global chart-topper for Pink Floyd. During the Falklands War and the era of Thatcherism, this anti-war concept album explored the themes of fallen servicemen, the loss of loved ones and political betrayal.

This record often gets a raw deal from Floyd heads, but the reality is it's the last great record they made and the last time Gilmour and Waters worked together.

                STAFF COMMENTS

Andy says: Often unfairly overlooked, this record is like The Wall part Two, all bled together and with at least 5 massive tunes( Gunner's Dream, Fletcher Memorial Home and the title track in particular). This time however, songwriter Roger Waters moves from the personal to the political, bringing things right up to date by addressing the then current Falklands War. A superb record.

                Animals

Released two years after the beatific Wish You Were Here, but actually cooked up in the same mid 70's song-writing sessions, this record never the less has a very different feel to it than its predecessor and also to most other Floyd albums. This is because of the socio-political, bleak, heavy lyrics. Roger Waters got depressed and political later, but this was like a slap in the face at the time! Musically Animals is the last Pink Floyd record to have anything to do with Prog Rock, with Dogs taking up nearly the whole of (the old) Side 1, and extended instrumental passages still featuring on both Pigs and Sheep. It is an amazing if miserable record. Dogs is Dave Gilmour's sole co-write and it is an incredible piece, sounding not unlike Roy Harper in his extended pomp, but the rest of the record was written entirely by Roger Waters.

                  STAFF COMMENTS

Andy says: Their last group effort with extended proggy episodes still featuring. But Roger Waters was clearly taking control.

                    STAFF COMMENTS

Andy says: This soundtrack LP is unique in the Floyd canon in that quite a West Coast flavour pervades. Gilmour does usher in his epic, amped-up slide sound, notably on "Childhood's End", but the rest is a glorious mixture of early-70's hippy vibes and songs.

Andy says: The Floyd found the sound which would come to define them on this classic record from 1971.This is nobly displayed on the stunning side-long song, "Echoes" which showcases each band member in their most beautiful light.

Andy says: Superb LP which has one side dedicated to the fully orchestrated title track, and the other an unusual collection of tunes composed by all 3 songwriters. The standout track is Dave Gilmour's "Fat Old Sun".

A Saucerful Of Secrets - Vinyl Edition

The band’s second album, originally released in 1968, was the first album to feature David Gilmour, who replaced Syd Barrett on guitar and vocals. It is both the last Pink Floyd album on which Syd Barrett appeared and the only studio album to which all five band members contributed. This is Pink Floyd in transition from Barrett's psychedelic whimsy to the style of their epic pieces. Classic tracks include Jugband Blues and Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun..
