Gold Against The Soul (2020 Remastered Edition)

Manic Street Preachers announce the reissue of their 1993 album, ‘Gold Against The Soul’ on Columbia/Sony Music. A firm fan favourite, their second studio album will now be available as part of a beautiful, limited edition, 120-page hardbound A4 book, featuring incredible unseen images from the band’s long-time photographic collaborator Mitch Ikeda, annotated by Nicky Wire plus handwritten lyric sheets. The book also includes x2 CDs comprising the original album plus x11 previously unheard tracks across demos, b sides, remixes and a live recording of the Clash track ‘What’s My Name’, remastered by James Dean Bradfield. There will also be a 180g vinyl version of the remastered album with download codes to the extra tracks on CD1 and a digital version featuring all the tracks.

'Gold Against The Soul' entered the Top 10 on release just over a year after their debut album 'Generation Terrorists' and saw the band shift musically to a classic rock sound.  Lead single 'From Despair To Where' was followed by 'La Tristesse Durera (Scream To A Sigh)', 'Roses In The Hospital' and 'Life Becoming A Landslide'.  Produced by Dave Eringa who had been working in various guises with the band and continues to do so to this day, the album was recorded over six weeks at Outside/Hookend Studios.

    International Blue

A limited 7" blue coloured vinyl exclusive to bricks and mortar indie stores only - taken from the band's 13th studio album "resistance is futile".

‘Resistance Is Futile’, the new Manic Street Preachers album.

Say the band – “the main themes of ‘resistance is futile’ are memory and loss – forgotten history – confused reality and art as a hiding place and inspiration. musically the album is obsessively melodic and in many ways references the naive energy of ‘generation terrorists’ and the orchestral sweep of ‘everything must go’. after delay and difficulties, the record has come together really quickly over the last few months, there has been a surge of creativity and old school hard work.”

        The Holy Bible

The third album from The Manics isn’t the easiest of listens. It’s a tense and at times harrowing collection of songs, recorded shortly before Richey James hospitalisation for depression, and subsequent disappearance. The lyrics, whether personal or political, are graphic and unflinchingly bleak. And even their usually buoyant glam hooks are tighter and more intense. It’s a powerful statement and still remains one of The Manics’ finest moments.

          Futurology - Deluxe Edition

Following on from last years Top 5 album "Rewind The Film", the new album "Futurology" finds Welsh rock icons 'Manic Street Preachers' in a more aggressive, propulsive, furious & expansive form, whilst retaining all the usual MSP finesse!

Produced by MSP, Loz Williams & Alex Silva (Holy Bible) with mixing from Craig Silvey. Guest artists include Green Gartside, Nina Hoss, Georgia Ruth, Cian Ciaran, Cate Le Bon & H. Hawkline.

This nicely packaged deluxe CD format includes a 16 track bonus disc of demos and exclusive tracks.

Produced by Steve Albini and recorded live at Rockfield Studios in Wales during the Winter of 2008, "Journal for Plague Lovers" features lyrics left behind by former guitarist Richey Edwards across all 13 new tracks.
Nicky Wire said of the decision to use Richey's words after all this time, 'The brilliance and intelligence of the lyrics dictated that we had to finally use them. The use of language is stunning and topics include The Grande Odalisque by Ingres, Marlon Brando, Giant Haystacks, celebrity, consumerism and dysmorphia, all reiterating the genius and intellect of Richard James Edwards'.

Musically the band draw on their classic "Holy Bible" sound with elements of Nirvana's "In Utero", as well as a delicate, beautiful acoustic side. The cover features an original piece of Jenny Saville, whose painting also graced the cover of 1994's "The Holy Bible".

2xLtd CD Info: The limited edition double CD includes 13 original demo versions of the album tracks. It comes in a lovely book style package with 36 page full colour booklet including exclusive photos and liner notes, Richey Edwards lyrics and Jenny Saville artwork.
