If Words Were Flowers is Harding's first new music since 2018, a follow up to his critically acclaimed 'Face Your Fears" album. It features songs like " Hopeful" , where Harding croons with devotion over a classic soul groove, textured with infectious horn playing, background singers and modern psychedelic flourishes. Harding fuels his psychedelic sound with the essence of Soul but isn't bound by it.

Instead, his songs convey an eclectic blend of genres leaping from the many musical lives he has lived from following his evangelical Gospel-singing mother on tour around the country as a child to rapping in Atlanta, forming a garage band with The Black Lips' Cole Alexander to singing back-up for Cee Lo Green. Through these experiences he fully embraces life's darkest intricacies and conjures dynamic, addictive melodies.

STAFF COMMENTS

Millie says: Absolutely beautiful soul from Curtis Harding over here, every song is a masterpiece. It's like Michael Kiwanuka meets James Brown/Charles Bradley, it's riiiiight up my street.

Alfa Mist is one of the driving forces behind a young and vibrant scene of UK musicians, who've taken on jazz as their musical narrative.

The producer, self-taught pianist and rapper takes us on a sonic trip back to his beat-making past on the streets of East London, through the depth and musicality he discovered composing and playing jazz. 2017 saw the release of Alfa's breakthrough record, Antiphon and the 2019's album Structuralism were both self-released on his Sekito label.

His latest endeavour, 2021's Bring Backs, sees Alfa taking on new challenges. The record marks his first release for the label Anti and is also the most detailed exploration of his upbringing in musical form.

STAFF COMMENTS

Barry says: though Antifon and Structuralism were undoubtedly skilled constructions and helped to bring Alfa Mist's music to the masses, 'Bring Backs' is by far the most cohesive and competent outing yet. Encompassing elements of jazz and soul as well as a beautiful thread of downbeat lounge and smooth hip-hop this is indeed a journey to be relished. Gorgeous stuff.

Fleet Foxes

Shore

Fleet Foxes' Robin Pecknold shares, "SHORE feels like a relief, like you'd feel when your feet finally hit sand after getting caught in a riptide.

It's a celebration of life in the face of death, honoring our lost musical heroes, from David Berman to John Prine to Judee Sill to Bill Withers, embracing the joy and solace they brought to our lives and honoring their memory.

SHORE is an object levitating between the magnetic fields of the past and the future."

SHORE was released digitally in its entirety today (on the fall equinox) alongside an album length Super-16mm landscape film captured and edited in Washington State by the filmmaker Kersti Jan Werdal.

The album was recorded in upstate New York at Aaron Dessner's Long Pond Studio, in Paris at Studios St. Germain, in Los Angeles at the legendary Vox, in Long Island City at Diamond Mine, and New York City's Electric Lady.

STAFF COMMENTS

Barry says: A brilliantly typical Fleet Foxes outing, full of wistful melodies, airy atmospheric reverbs and swooning tropical interludes. Huge anthemic choruses abound here too, ofsetting the dreamy vibes with a classically transportive FF heft.
