They Might Be Giants

The World Is To Dig

They Might Be Giants treat the entire history of popular music as a trampoline rather than a rulebook. Like two pinballs pinging off of each other through musical murals stretching into a giddy ether, TMBG moves by ricochet. On their album 'The World Is to Dig', the multi- Grammy- winning duo continue bouncing through the pop multiverse, digging into whatever they find with playful zeal. John Linnell and John Flansburgh continue to fire ideas off one another like particles in a perpetual motion experiment, each collision producing a new angle, a new melodic left turn, resulting in tracks packed with esoteric references, mischievous details, and left- field detours. Untethered from trends, immune to nostalgia, and equally ready to draw from Tin Pan Alley theatrics and contemporary pop culture references, 'The World Is to Dig' is the sound of a band very much in motion; not chasing relevance, but generating it on their own terms.

Why? - 2026 Reissue

At last! TMBG has returned to the world of kids stuff! It's a fantastic set of 18 new songs called Why? What kind of album is Why? Well, it's not bad for you but it's not good for you either. It's just about fun, like TMBG's first kids album No! Why? is memorable songs in family-friendly package with none of that pandering aftertaste. Like previous TMBG kid productions it's a family affair with John Flansburgh's wife Robin "Goldie" Goldwasser singing a couple of tracks, while bassist Danny Weinkauf, joined by his daughter, steps up to the mic for the song Elephants. Alison Cowles, the daughter longtime video animation collaborator David Cowles (The Mesopotamians, We Live in a Dump, Science is Real) has contributed all the illustrations for the album. Right out of the gate TMBG hits the listener with the odd brilliance of "Oh You Did" through the folkie charm of "Out of A Tree," the full rocking of "Or So I Have Read" the perky "I Just Want to Dance," and wrapping things up with the optimism of "Then The Kids Took Over." Why? has everything to delight both kids and parents.

John Henry - 2026 Reissue

John Henry is a powerhouse of an album - They Might Be Giants' full band debut finds the Johns joined by Brian Doherty on drums, Kurt Hoffman on keys and woodwinds, along with twin rock legends Tony Maimone (Pere Ubu, Bob Mould) and Graham Maby (Joe Jackson, Freedy Johnston). Coming off extensive live band touring behind Apollo 18, for TMBG, John Henry is a hard left turn back into the world of the rock combo. While the album is full of wild sonic surprises like the manic improvisation of "Spy" and the rich vocal harmonies delivered by Hudson Shad on "O, Do Not Forsake Me," at the core of the album is a remarkable set of rollicking songs delivered in a direct manner. "Snail Shell," "Subliminal," and "Meet James Ensor" immediately established themselves as show-stoppers, and audiences' appreciation for the album has only grown over the years. This two-disc set is an audiophile's dream. The full 20-track program of the original CD release has been remastered by Sterling Sound and spread over three LP sides. Side D features select live rarities of the John Henry era, pressed on vinyl for the very first time.

Lazy / Buckle Down, Winsocki

Lazy is TMBG's recording of Irving Berlin's classic 1924 song made in celebration of WNYC's 100th anniversary. A band doesn't tour for 35 years if the people don't come back for more.

Brooklyn originals They Might Be Giants is a beloved perpetual motion machine - The band's melodic, upbeat, energetic, spontaneous, and often virtuosic show delivers in a way most live acts can't - As they enter their fourth decade of music-making, the band continues to burnish their legendary status by actively recording their original songs and touring internationally. They've made over 20 albums, sold more than a few million, and won a couple of Grammys. Lazy is TMBG's recording of Irving Berlin's classic 1924 song made in celebration of WNYC's 100th anniversary.

Nanobots

‘The quirky alt.pop duo are currently enjoying a hipster-led popularity resurgence’ – Time Out‘.
They Might Be Giants helped write the manual for American geek-rock’ – Q.
‘The geek-rock likes of Weezer and Death Cab for Cutie owe a debt to this multimillion-selling Brooklyn duo, purveyors or smark-alecky pop tunes.’ – The Times.
‘New York duo John Flansburgh and John Linnell have been making irreverent ironic alt-rock for nearly three decades, spawning imitators like Weezer and Ben Folds Five… it’s clear they have lost none of their playful individuality.’ – Daily Telegraph.

They Might Be Giants have perfected their deliriously catchy, original sound over the past three decades. The two-time GRAMMY winning Brooklyn originals return with charming wit, electrifying pop melodies and just enough bass clarinet on their 16th studio album "Nanobots". Created at the private studio of their long time collaborator and producer Patrick Dillett (David Byrne, Mary J. Blige, Tegan and Sara), Nanobots will be released 11th March 2013 on Lojinx.

Nanobots finds the band in fine form. Blending the band’s signature storytelling, some dueling horns and sly humor, "Call You Mom" is a caffeinated pop gem. Title track "Nanobots" puts a dark cartoonish spin on the world of technology while the call and response chorus and percussive guitar line of "You’re On Fire" dares even the grumpiest wallflower not to dance.

They Might Be Giants’ innovative Dial-A-Song service and imaginative high concept, low budget music videos stood the band apart early in their career quickly rocketing thealternative rockers to mainstream success. Known for recording numerous themes most notably The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, and the GRAMMY-winning Malcolm In the Middle theme, the band has 2 platinum albums, 2 gold albums, and have been nominated for 3 GRAMMYs, winning two.
