Marine

Fable Electric

Marine make music that bridges the gaps between spectral pop, dreamy grunge and ambient folk, whilst lyrically exploring ancient tales of mythology and the underworld.

Since forming in 2014, the band - made up of Cara Sebastian (lead vocals, guitar and ‘Fable Electric’ artwork), Ruby Jack (lead vocals and guitar), Beth Dariti (bass) and Kaja Magsam (drums) - have been running their own show in their own way, touring across Europe and the UK and quickly building a cult following in both Berlin and London, whilst racking up support from tastemakers at 6Music and across the blogosphere.

    Lail Arad

    The Onion

Singer-songwriter Lail Arad releases her second album, ‘The Onion’, through The Vinyl Factory.

‘The Onion’ is the follow-up to London-born Lail’s 2011 debut ‘Someone New’ and was co-produced between a snowy winter in Geneva and a summer heat wave in NYC. The album came together patiently, with Lail writing, erasing, demoing and dallying; the result is a striking marriage of assured maturity and childlike spirit.

An acute sense of perspective permeates the album, from its subtle themes to its classic production and from each lyrical twist to its unassuming delivery.

Lead track ‘Lay Down’ quickly escalates through a resolute guitar hook and captivating signature vocal into a vast upbeat chorus that is incongruous with its troubled lyrical meaning. Lail says: “This track is as about as angsty as I get. Oh heartache! Oh vulnerability! Turn it up loud and drown out the warning bells!”

“A cool-as-hell depiction of youthful insecurity matched to infinite possibility” - Clash

      Raft Records Compilation

4-track EP pressed on double 7” vinyl.

Bespoke gatefold sleeve. Printed paper inner sleeves.

        Limited edition of 500 copies.

The Vinyl Factory launches their Raft Records sublabel in collaboration with The Horrors’ / Cat’s Eyes’ Faris and Loom frontman Tarik Badwan. The first release will be a double 7” single featuring new bands Niqab, Puffer, (the mysterious) Jet Black and Skinny Girl Diet.

Skinny Girl Diet: “A female Pixies with similar almost spoken word vocals but with added thrash. It is full of heartfelt angst, not caring and making light of ordinary observations. It is all about searching for something better and escaping to a fantasy that probably doesn’t exist - that is where the melancholy lies making the screams even more real.” - Benjamin Spiro-Hughes

“This music is wonderful: brash, unafraid, reared and raised on my peers (Babes In Toyland, Heavens To Betsy, old school grunge).” - Everett True

Puffer: “Underground industrial rockers” - Dazed & Confused

“Fearless and noisy with freakish psychedelic tendencies.” - The Fly

“Apocalyptic mesh of barbed riffs and howls” - NME

Niqab: “Maximal psychedelic ensemble” - NME

        Loom
