Honest Jon's bring us another collection of West Indian calypso, African kwela and highlife, both borrowing heavily from US jazz, from young black London circa the late 40s to late 50s. The music here was mostly created before the Notting Hill race riots of 1958 and has an optimistic feel. Included are tracks by Young Tiger, West African Rhythm Brothers, Lord Kitchener, The Lion, Mona Baptiste, Rans Boi's Ghana Highlife Band, Russ Henderson, Gwigwi Mrwebi, King Timothy and more.
