Two years on from their awesome "You Are The Generation That Bought More Shoes And You Get What You Deserve" single, Johnny Boy's debut album finally gets a UK release, and it's been worth the wait! It's choc-full of shouty girl-group pop, with baggy beats rattling and all sorts of woozy, Spectorish sounds hovering around. It's the kind of record you could imagine the Reid brothers (JAMC) loving and some of its socio-political vignettes recall "XTRMNTR"-era Primals, but mainly this is a cacophonous pop record that's in love with The Sixties and high on fun, hooks and attitude. While nothing quite matches the splendour of THAT single, there's enough on here to send you to Dreamland, calling at some cool rock'n'roll places on your way, too! It's a hit!
