About this item

On its 2005 release, "Human After All" was Daft Punk's first new studio album in four years, and their third album proper to date following up to 2001's "Discovery". Thomas Bangalter and Guy Manuel De Homem Christo recorded the ten tracks in just six weeks in their home studio in Paris in late 2004. Initially confusing the critics, who expected another pop album in the vein of "Discovery", "Human After All" instead delivered a rough and ready collection of extended dancefloor tracks with an emphasis on the "Punk" that informed the whole mid noughties wave of electro releases.

The music is diverse and fresh whilst retaining their trademark Daft Punk sound (vocoder vocals, keyboards playing 70s guitar riffs etc), this time with a more spontaneous and direct quality to the recording. A mix of guitars and machines, "Human After All" takes us from the hardcore P-Funkin' tech-thump of "Brainwasher" and "Television Rules The Nation" to the pumping "Technologic" and "Steam Machine". The highligh however comes with the moments of calm amidst all the stormy electronics, the heartbreaking "Make Love" and "Emotion".
