Koreless
Agor
About this item
Lewis Roberts aka Koreless finally drops his much anticipated debut album ‘Agor’. There is an idea of hidden depths suggested by the title of Koreless’ debut longplayer. ‘Agor’ is the Welsh word for open and it’s an apt name for a recording which exists at sensory thresholds, helping guide the listener from one realm to another less visited. It straddles various worlds of trance, ambient, contemporary classical, sound design, vaporwave and garage, while not sounding like an example of any of them. An album over five years in the making, ‘Agor’ includes ‘Joy Squad’, a track that has a life of its own already, played by Caribou, Jamie xx and TNGHT in their BBC Radio 1 Essential Mixes, with further support from Oli XL and HAAi.
STAFF COMMENTS
Barry says: Koreless is back! I remember buying the Yugen EP WAY back in 2013, and being really into his sound which at the time seemed particularly groundbreaking. It's become a bit more common nowadays, so you'll be pleased to know that his debut LP is a brilliantly inventive development of the sound, with ambient electronics and cracking percussion making way for more off-piste sound design works, all brought together with Koreless' wonderfully fresh take on the genre.
