About this item

Back in 1984 South African guitar virtuoso and general gee, Sipho Gumede adopted the one of alias of The Boogie Man for a studio session with Greg Cutler, which has since gone on to be a bit of a digger's bomb. A fact which is utterly unsurprising since the duo made excellent use of the bubbling bassline and sparkling synthery of hip hop / electro classic "The Message". Chuck into the mix a spoken vocal from Sipho (whose pitched delivery had all of us scratching our head to try and discern the language) and some great female backing vox and you have a Balearic dancefloor heater, International disco bomb and crate digging curio perfect for the jobbing bar DJ (Hi Pasta Paul!).

STAFF COMMENTS

Patrick says: Well this is a bit of alright innit! Ticking as many boxes as you'd like to name, "Jika Jika" sees South African guitarist Sipho Gumede giving us a tasty Afro-boogie killer based on Grandmaster Flash's Message. Limited as you like so don't sleep!
