Neil McSweeney is a critically acclaimed singer / songwriter from Sheffield. He’s toured with Richard Hawley and been played across BBC national radio. He’s recently collaborated with the bright young things of the English folk and Americana scenes including Lucy Farrell, Matthew Boulter and Sam Sweeney as well as more established artists such as Brooks Williams.

This is the third solo album release from Neil McSweeney following Remember to Smile (2006) and Shoreline (2009). Neil has also released singles though London based Kids Records and earlier in 2013 he released a The Seventeen EP through his own January Records label.

Cargo presents a series of walking songs each recounting the thoughts, deeds or words of an imagined traveller. The album features a range of musicians including BBC Folk award winners Sam Sweeney (Bellowhead) and Lucy Farrell, label-mate Matt Boulter, double-bass master and ace producer Andy Seward (Kate Rusby, Phil Selway of Radiohead).
