‘Weird Cool’ is the new single of the London lo-fi dreamygrunge quartet Lazy Day. Biting, groovy and soaring, the new single is being pressed on 300 limited edition orange flexi discs. The single coincides with three release shows in Bournemouth, London and Bristol, as well as a UK support tour with Alex Lahey.

Lazy Day began in 2014 as the solo bedroom project of Tilly Scantlebury. Self-recording her tracks on Garageband and making them available online, she quickly gained attention. Since expanding to a live four-piece band, Lazy Day have steadily gone from strength to strength.

‘Weird Cool’ follows Lazy Day’s now long-since sold-out Record Store Day 2015 split 7” single ‘Portrait’ and their 7” single ‘Disappear’ / ‘All The Time’ which was accompanied by a trippy video, hailed by DIY Mag as “yet more evidence of Tilly’s growing ambitions, as she hits down on the accelerator.”

Weird Cool’ marks a thrilling return after the release of debut EP Ribbons in September 2017. Ribbons received praise from many respected publications, as well as earning radio play from Lauren Laverne, Steve Lamacq and Gideon Coe on BBC 6 Music. Single 'Hiccup' was also selected as single of the week, with a live interview on The Janice Forsyth Show on BBC Radio Scotland. Lazy Day completed their first headline UK tour in September 2017, which saw them play 12 shows up and down the country, selling out both their London and Bristol shows.

“I wrote ‘Weird Cool’ last year when I was starting to feel really happy with someone new. And even though things were becoming good, there was a looming dread that it could all turn rubbish. I think ‘Weird Cool’ is a love song that’s scared to be a love song, and my intake of breath at the very start shows that - like when you’re psyching yourself up to say something difficult. Musically I wanted people to be able to move to it, something groovy and hypnotic. It’s really (weird) cool to be able to release new music so soon after the EP, so that there’s not such a time warp between my creative life and my actual life. It’s a good feeling.”
