Oh, Good Grief! - 2025 Reissue

Many people got to know Vince Guaraldi through his 1963 Grammy®-winning song, 'Cast Your Fate To The Wind', or via the group Sounds Orchestral’s Top-10 cover of it two years later. Lee Mendelson heard Guaraldi’s version when working on a Peanuts documentary, and contacted Guaraldi, asking him to score the upcoming Peanuts Christmas special. It was a match made in television and musical history. With songs like 'Linus And Lucy', the special was a hit and for over five decades not a holiday season goes by without an airing of the television classic. So potent and successful was the Peanuts/Guaraldi combination that Guaraldi went on to score a total of 15 Peanuts television specials and the first feature film. In 1968, Vince made a label switch from his long-time home, Fantasy Records, to his new label, Warner Bros. Records. For his inaugural album, he decided to re-interpret his Peanuts classics on 'Oh, Good Grief!' In addition to the instantly recognizable Guaraldi sound of piano, bass, and drums, this time he added electric guitar and electric harpsichord to the mix. The record was a smash hit. Now, for its 50th anniversary, Omnivore Recordings is proud to present the album the way the world first heard it—as stated on the original album’s back cover, “on shiny black vinyl.” Well, actually, this special pressing is “on shiny yellow vinyl!” Mastered by Kevin Gray, this timeless album has never sounded better. Join Charlie Brown and his friends on this classic release, once again on vinyl—Oh, Good Greif!

The record Includes Guaraldi hits like "Peppermint Patty," "Easter Theme," and "Snoopy and Woodstock". And includes a special bonus track: "Woodstock's Medley" performed by Guaraldi torch- bearer David Benoit (piano) with original Guaraldi sidemen Seward McCain (Bass) and Mike Clark (drums) - recorded 50 years later at the same Hyde Street studio where the soundtrack was recorded in San Francisco. From the elegant title theme, to some Guaraldified Beethoven, to the profoundly catchy central theme of "Woodstock's Dream," Guaraldi's indelible score has surprises for everyone to enjoy this spring and year round.

Beyond the composer's playing on piano, electric piano, harpsichord, and electric guitar, McCain plays electric bass, Robert Clare plays flute, Glenn Cronkhite and Eliot Zigmund play drums, and John Scott Trotter supervised the music.

You're Not Elected, Charlie Brown -2024 Reissue

Premier release of Vince Guaraldi's soundtrack for "You're Not Elected, Charlie Brown" (1972)

Newly re-discovered in the vaults, the original recording sessions for Vince Guaraldi's soundtrack for "You're Not Elected, Charlie Brown" now remastered for audiophiles and Peanutsr fans and election lovers everywhere. All versions of this release include the original 15 tracks of cues from the special - with extended performances available for the first time ever - plus 10 extra bonus tracks never before heard since their recording in 1972.

Guaraldi brought Dixieland jazz, his classic favourites, and even his voice (for the first time in Peanutsr) to the soundtrack that provides the score for Linus's campaign for student body president. Some highlights include: the complete (over five minute) "Joe Cool" where Guaraldi sings about one of Snoopy's most famous alter egos; multiple versions of "Incumbent Waltz" written for the special; probably his saddest tune "Deserted Charlie Brown; classic Linus and Lucy updated for the 70s; and several of the eponymous "You're Not Elected, Charlie Brown" tunes. There are bonus tracks for "Joe Cool," alternate takes of songs like "Blue Charlie Brown" and a bonus of "African Sleigh Ride."

In addition to the composer's piano playing, guitar and vocals, the maestro's cabinet (band) is comprised of legends who lent their talents for this wonderful campaign. The music will get you in a great mood for any election. The album was remixed at Bones and Knives by Terry Carleton, and restored and mastered by Vinson Hudson, and produced by Sean Mendelson and Jason Mendelson.

It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown - 2022 Reissue

It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown (Music from the Soundtrack) features some of the most iconic tracks in pop culture, including the instantly recognizable “Linus and Lucy,” as well as the languid, lyrical “Great Pumpkin Waltz.” The music was recorded on October 4, 1966 at Desilu’s Gower Street Studio in Hollywood, California by Guaraldi (piano) and his longtime friends and trio sidemen — bassist Monty Budwig and drummer Colin Bailey — joined by Emanuel Klein (trumpet), John Gray (guitar) and Ronald Lang (woodwinds). The entire scoring process was overseen by composer, arranger and conductor John Scott Trotter, well known for a three-decade run as Bing Crosby’s music director and close friend.

The slowdown of the pandemic gave the Mendelson family, (Lee Mendelson was the Executive Producer of the TV Special), an opportunity to dig deep through their archives and they discovered what were previously thought to be lost to time: the original analog session reels for It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown. What you will hear on most tracks of this new and improved “best” version of It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown are the musical cues as recorded by Vince and crew before they were edited for the television special, in show order, as well as a selection of alternate takes.
