Thos Henley

A Collection Of Early Recordings

Thos Henley is currently amidst a solo music adventure across Europe. Having exhausted the London scene, where he was heavily involved during his teens, he has spent the last two years exploring the continent, in particular France and Paris, where he has aligned with the Boutique Sonores label.

“I left my village in England around two years ago, the reasons were plentiful; I had fallen out of love with a woman and the country which I stood on. Inspired by travel writers such as Laurie Lee and Patrick Leigh Fermor, I left for France in a red van and after swimming in St. Tropez with my passport in my pocket I decided to stay in Paris.”

Regularly featured on blogs such as La Blogothèque and Le Transistor in France and sharing the stage with artists such as the French band Syd Matters and LA-based folk - 2 - band Dylan Trees, Thos has been able to develop a fan-base wherever he resides and continues to win over fans on his travels.

This release brings together tracks recorded in England shortly before his departure, as well as newer tracks recorded with new acquaintances abroad. The music carries influences from antique British and contemporary American folk, with lush vocal harmonies and organ. The UK physical release comes in a beautiful extendeddigipack including photos and lyrics.

Hairy Hands is a DIY beats/vocals project from singer/songwriter Mr James Bright. His cut-and-paste productions are playful and naive, drawing from influences such as Madlib, Arthur Russell and Benny Sings.

Sometimes, a musician has to suppress some of his or her particular tastes for the benefit of a project. In developing the sound of Mr James Bright, production is often taken care of by James' close friends at studios all across the globe. Over the years, however, James' urge to unleash his own monster sound had grown, and after a year in the making, his own sound is ready to be let out of the cage.

This is HAIRY HANDS. Fluid rhythms and lavish keys are strewn together to create a blend of beats and wonky folk that is particularly difficult to label. Tracks bounce between chorus and verse, dropping and twisting every few bars; this music is undeniably vibrant. A childlike approach to production, with everything and anything sprinkled from start to finish, causes the finished product to sound beautifully naive. There are no limits here, each track will get you in a headlock and re-arrange your perception of groove. Goodbye Mr.Music Snob, Hairy Hands has just turned your world upside down…
