We Are The Plague

For Fans Of - PJ Harvey, Nick Cave, Chelsea Wolfe, Mark Lanegan, Elliot Smith, Thurston Moore, Patti Smith. Acclaimed alternative alchemist’s highly-anticipated debut LP. “Striking, black-shrouded songwriting” (Clash). A bold soundtrack to the apocalypse.

“We Are The Plague” declares Suzie Stapleton over the anthemic, fuzzed-out bass that opens the acclaimed alternative alchemist’s extraordinary debut album. It is a rallying cry, the defiant call of a generation sold down the river and acutely aware of its own imminent demise. The album centres around Stapleton’s midnight vocal; raw, poetic lyrics; and expressive, unique guitar playing ranging from a light touch similar to Elliot Smith to effects-soaked riffs evoking Sonic Youth or Soundgarden. Backed by band feat members of The Stranglers and Jim Jones & The Righteous Mind, and mixed by Dan Cox (Thurston Moore/Laura Marling). “Suzie has toured with Mick Harvey and Mark Lanegan - it won't be long before they're opening for her.”

On The Enjoyment Of Unpleasant Places

Decidedly overdue reissue of an album that first saw the light of day in 2001, on the now defunct Subjugation label as a very limited pressing of 1500. Thanks to Gravity Dip, you now have your chance to get your eager mits on one. Engagingly lo-fi emo / indie rock genius with a heart, and more catchy hooks than an international angling competition. The best thing to come out of Glasgow since Buckfast.

On The Enjoyment Of Unpleasant Places

Stapleton's debut album "Rebuild the Pier" (released on Year 3 Thousand Records) was released in late 2000, to critical acclaim, scoring them four Ks in Kerrang and numerous support slots. "The Enjoyment of Unpleasant Places" will establish Stapleton without a doubt as one of the best bands in the UK. The new record retains the urgency of the debut, yet shows a massive maturing in song writing. They still know how to write a jarringly beautiful post hardcore classic such as "Esplanade" with its angular guitars, time signature changes and urgent vocals, they're simply one of the best guitar bands in Britain today.

        Icy You

Stapleton are one of the best of the new British emocore bands and this is their first single release. A trio from Glasgow, they bring you a mix of Pavement, Saves The Day (who they're touring with) and Promise Ring as they move between catchy emo pop to beautiful lo-fi rock. Expect great things from this lot.
