K3

Brand new studio full length from Bristol based sike-o-nauts, orbiting in the Heads’ realm and led by Heads’ Simon Price.

For fans of: Popul Vuh, Parson Sound, Amon Duul, Neu!, The Heads, Spacemen 3, Harmonia, Moon Duo, Carlton Melton, Fripp & Eno.
k3 continues the trajectory of outer space excursions found on previous kandodo releases.

Recorded over the past three years and aided by fellow Heads types H O Morgan and Wayne Maskell, this album was recorded in Bristol and on Price’s 4 track.. Mastered once again at Optimum by Shawn Joseph.
Out of focus, relaxed and expansive vibes fuse together into serpentine rivers of minimalist rhythms and echoed tones, drawing the listener into tunnels of sound and scorched sonic landscapes.

It's one for the headphones at 30,000 feet or late night deserted drives.
k3 finds three heads taking time out to dive into the dronal repetitions of deep space, 3 psychonauts killing time in the only way they know how; head-nodding drumfuzz layered with creamed strings. Guest guitar from fellow sike-head John McBain on the final half of the 40 minute trip which makes up sides 3 and 4.

k3 takes the autobahn, veering left past the sun and heading on till morning. There are no black holes 'cos we're in it: just do the half. The colours will come back with the dawn.

Settle in for the long haul and ….

    STAFF COMMENTS

Barry says: Hazy sun-dappled ambient psychedelia doesn't come any more satisfying than this, with slow-mo Earth-like progressions and weighty clean guitar plucks meander over a satisfyingly hypnotic undercurrent of staggered distorted bass and whirling sine waves. Properly hypnotic stuff here, perfect for phasing out in the sunshine.

    The Heads

    RKT!

Timely reissue of the first 3 releases The Heads put out on the ROCKET label, form their first split 7” release (with Lilydamwhite) in 1998 to their much lauded SESSIONS 2 freakout 12” from 2002… compiled here in their remastered glory, the Heads we quite prolific back in the late 90s / early 00’s, and in between the Everybody Knows We Got Nowhere album and Undersided album they released their jams and raw rehearsals via the burgeoning ROCKET Label..

Compiled here with extensive sleeve notes from Rocket founder Simon Healey, this limited 3LP (1000 copies) and 2CD (1000 copies) set captures the band at their most laconic and free… psychedelic sprawling morass or sound and aural distortion grooves akin drawing from their wide influences…also from simply plugging in and letting go…

      Relaxing With... (Remastered)

“Relaxing With…” is the first Heads album, its reissue, remastered and boosted with extras has been a long time coming: Rooster is mightily proud to announce its release at last.

The Heads had self-released a couple of 7”’, and then Cargo Uk’s inhouse label Headhunter UK got to release a further 7”, and then the Debut album in 1996. Amidst a world suffocating in Britpop smarm, the Heads cut a timely swathe with their unkempt rock psychedelique. The album contained 10 tracks of guitar driven, amp destroying rock, with cues taken straight from the US underground, Stooges, MC5, Mudhoney, Pussy Galore, early Monster Magnet too but with a distinctly British stamp, some of the drone and fuzz from Loop / Spacemen 3, some of the attitude of the Fall, Pink Fairies and Walking Seeds and overlaid with the spaced rock of early Hawkwind. It was obvious that the four members of the Heads were music obsessives.

The debut album was recorded at Foel studios (owned by Dave Anderson from Hawkwind) and engineered by Corin Dingley, it was mastered by John Dent at LOUD. For this reissue, the album has been kept on disc one in its entirety, and remastered by Shawn Joseph (he mastered their second album) and Simon Price, with the 'bonus' disc featuring unreleased tracks (including Spliff Riff from 1991) , all the early singles tracks, a selection of their Radcliffe / Radio One Rock Show session tracks, and their first John Peel session in its entirety. The artwork has been re-tooled and expanded excessively and obsessively by longtime art collaborator Johnny O with Simon Price to collate an appreciation of the Heads penned by a former tour manager, and dozens of fliers, unseen photos, clippings etc.

A 27 track 2CD release / 10 track vinyl release that confirms the Heads status as 'a national treasure'. Released on the band's own Rooster imprint, and with all material available digitally for the first time.

Fans of modern day psychedelic purveyors like Moon Duo, Wooden Shjips, La Otracina, Birds of Maya, Magic Lantern, and the likes should give this a listen.

        The Heads

        Enten Eller

Five tracks taken from 2 sessions in the Circle in the Square rehearsal space. 3 of these tracks including the 20 min 'Or' were taken from a rehearsal 'gig' with an audience of just 3 (The Heads uber fans Dave Cambridge, Mark Lascelles and Dave Tuckwell).

Recorded by Simon Price in 2005 these tracks see The Heads at their most raw and intense when the band were at their loudest battling for volume space. The other two tracks from 2010 are taken from some of the final sessions within the rehearsal space with jams based on a Heads lp that never happened. Comped and edited by Paul Allen and originally released on very limited cdr back in 2012 Enten Eller finally gets a release on vinyl, remastered for vinyl by Shawn Joseph. with the original artwork on a gatefold sleeve.
