REX THE DOG

Rex The Dog has truly been Kompakt’s best friend since his debut “Prototype" came out in 2004. This London based producer’s signature sound channels the best of EBM, Nu Groove and solid state rave techno. His 8 EP contribution to Kompakt over that time has become an integral part of the label’s story and his expansive modular synth live show is a unique experience in its own right.

“Versions” sees three modern day producers get the mitts on RTD’s back catalogue, turning out three new remixes for 2020! Krystal Klear is a staple of the Running Back family and runs his own Cold Tonic imprint and should be more than familiair to frequent observers of our house and techno sections…

He picks “Vortex” and though sticks to the original melody, he contorts the dimension of the single into intergalactical levels of hi-nrg inducing techno. Fast cementing a name for himself as ‘maker of the biggest breakdowns’, there’s no-one that springs to mind more than KK when it comes to conjuring up stadium-slaying drops…

Bawrut’s releases on Ransom Note speak volumes of his immense talent and he picks the classic “Sicko" to great effect. Turning out one of his now arcitypal wonky, acidic, long-form house bubblers.

Finally, the Austrian starlet Wolfram digs deep and goes for “Circulate” – a track that Kompakt never even released. Wolfram shamelessly takes the essence of trance and new wave to translate the original into a piece of pure dancefloor glory for the modern age. Get in!

Imagine someone, after having started up their time machine, flying over the mountains and valleys of music history, snatching at everything that looks somehow interesting: A little bit of 1984, a taste of 2011 and a long, extended free flight over 1990 - a time when the human voice was replaced by bleeps and clonks! Yep, that's what Rex The Dog has done. It is rumoured that Rex is an alias of Jake Williams, aka JX, who had a slew of top ten hits in Europe in the early 90s. Others claim Rex is a German electro / techno producer. Others claim he is a super intelligent mutant dog. Regardless of his exact identity, Rex The Dog makes some pretty fine music, and this album collects together some of his best tracks and remixes, including 2004 debut "Prototype".
