Joe Meek

I Hear A New World - Reissue

"..an outer space music fantasy by Joe Meek"

A classic of incredibly strange music, electronica, pre Beatles Britpop, or all of the above...however you slice it, I Hear A New World was and is the masterpiece of that left field master of sound, Joe Meek...recorded as usual partly at home with secret equipment, and partly at the state of the art Lansdowne studio he pretty much designed, it is a full on spectacular action stereo extravaganza, almost unknown in British pop recordings of the time and for many years later....here beautifully remastered, and restored to it's original track sequence as planned and advertised by Meek when he marketed it as an ideal stereo test recording for hi toned hifi shops....only an ep of less than half the assembled work was originally released....now here it is, on VINYL as it was meant to be heard....

    Dance Moderno

THIS IS A RECORD STORE DAY 2019 EXCLUSIVE, LIMITED TO ONE PER PERSON.

Magenta colour vinyl for RSD 2019. Limited pressing of 500 copies. Originally released in 1961. Sergio Mendes began his career as a serious jazz and classical pianist, at the same time working with Antonio Carlos Jobim's circle during the very earliest stirrings of Bossa Nova, the music which was soon to seduce the world! Soon established as the go-to collaborator for US jazz greats touring Brazil, he became firmly part of their world and milleu, signing to Atlantic as a solo. in a few brave and, yes, experimental steps making his way to the conquest of the pop world Brazil '66. Perhaps his very first steps in that direction were this album, Dance Moderno in which he takes all his understandings of the freedom of Modern Jazz, and combines it with a Bossa Nova derived lighter, dancier, almost poppier feel, which was to serve him so well as Bossa Nova and later he himself exploded into the mainstream. An album full of super dance grooves, and the flavours of both jazz and carnival, standards and brand new Bossa sounds, it's simply a must-have! A vital moment in history, and an irresistible groove too....it's a win/win! Jasmine Minks

      Another Age

Jasmine Minks were the first band to release records on the iconic Creation Records, and celebrate their 30th anniversary with this reissue of 1988's "Another Age".

''Jazz By Sun Ra'' was the debut album length recording by Sun Ra. The LP originally appeared on the short-lived and pioneering label Transition Records, which was headed by the young Tom Wilson, and released a number of unique jazz albums in this period by the likes of Cecil Taylor and Donald Byrd. Transition releases tended to include elaborate if homemade looking packaging more perhaps in tune with today's buyers and artists than those of the 1950s. When originally released, "Jazz By Sun Ra" came with an extensive booklet featuring words and photos of Sun Ra and his Arkestra. Wilson was to continue in an extensive and successful career as a major label A&R man/producer, with a range from Bob Dylan's ''Like A Rolling Stone'' to the first 2 Velvet Underground albums and way beyond...he was to remain close friends with Sun Ra, re-entering the story on a number of occasions in years to come. The LP features original compositions by Sun Ra along with one by Arkestral bassist Richard Evans. The single non-Arkestral composition is Possession, by Harry Revel, which had been written for Les Baxter's slightly bizarre Exotica album oddity Perfume Set to Music, which shows just how wide ranging Sun's listening and how open his mind was to the unusual even in the 1950s!! **Remastered original 1955 recording of Sun Ra's earliest released LP **Features the original Transition Records cover, with excerpts from the original booklet included as liner notes. **A must for all fans of the unique world of Sun Ra...it's first stirrings!

            Piatcions

            Senseless>Sense

Piatcions debut album “Senseless>Sense” combines the soundscaped inertia of Spiritualized with the set-back and hushed vocal indifference of Brian Jonestown Massacre frontman Anton Newcombe. Gossamer sounds build to Kraut riffs, dazzling and epic.

“A luscious, dense sound, artfully constructed and beautifully arranged” Subba Cultcha

PoppyDisc proudly presents the debut album by St. Deluxe...a revolutionary source of pure pop noise straight out of Glasgow...currently touring and playing shows with the likes of Sonic Boom, St.Deluxe are set to become Glasgow's next great pop gift to the world! Some quotes: Vic Galloway, Radio 1/Radio Scotland 'Ensconced in the wonderful 'Riverside Studios' beloved of Teenage Fanclub and others, St. Deluxe join that great lineage of Glasgow indie-rock. Their sound is reminscent of Dinosaur Jr, Sonic Youth, My Bloody Valentine and the aformentioned Glasgow bands, with near-whispered vocals, fuzzed-out guitars and a stoned haze of production culminating in a very, sweet whole! I look forward to their debut LP on the new Poppydisc label, run by Creation records honcho Joe Foster... makes sense doesn't it?!' Duglas T. Stewart (BMX Bandits/PoppyDisc) 'The boys from St Deluxe are my Bandits and Francis Macdonald's Bad Boys. With the Bandits they play soft and melodic but they can also play a very different type of sounding music. St Deluxe music is loud, unapologetic and very alive. Prepare for a tasty portion of pure energy and adrenalin'.
