    Animaleja

    Nostalgia De Mar Remixed

Animaleja (Medellín, Colombia) and No Sabes (Nashville, Tennessee) unveil 'Nostalgia De Mar Remixed' a special edition that brings together eight artists from across the globe.

From the tropicanibalismo of Meridian Brothers in Bogotá and the experimental guaracha of DJ Malicia in Medellín, to the digital cumbia of Ruido Selecto weaving Latin roots with bass music, the album traces a sonic journey across continents. In Japan, Nickelman and Boogie Mason reimagine tropical sounds through lofi beats and hip hop, while in Amsterdam Apichat Pakwan fuses Asian tropical bass with contemporary electronica. Back in the tropics, Palka (Chiriki Records, Panama) offers a downtempo universe, and on the Mexico–Los Angeles border, 714 channels the power of the Latin club scene.

'Nostalgia De Mar Remixed' is a global dialogue of rhythms, voices, and territories, where tropical roots find new forms beyond borders.

      My Wall

      Over

The album features eight tracks of the most beautifully wretched sounds and heaviest riffs spread across a 38-minutes. Alternating betweeen dismal, down-tuned drudge and caucophonous blasts of chaos, OVER promises to be one of the most imaginative heavy albums of the year.

OVER is the first release from My Wall since returning from their Japanese tour. It’s followup to the band’s debut album Mine (2020) and the 12” EP “The Event/Abuse (2021).

"The album is a fucking killer—punishingly heavy, but also a really unique and authentic style. I thoroughly enjoyed becoming familiar with it" - James Plotkin (Plotkinworks, O.L.D., Khanate).

        Ruido Selecto

        Cumbia Soundsystem

Ruido Selecto explores the 'Bass of the Caribbean' where it brings together dub, Cumbia, Champeta and rhythms of African music that have traditionally reached Colombia. Ruido has made national and international tours in Mexico and Central America and presentations in the United States and Europe. He has participated in festivals such as Altavoz, Áfricafutura and Invazion fest alternating with artists such as Mitu, Afrotronix, Guetto kumbé, Systema Solar, Alligatorz among others. In turn, he has made remixes for the Discos Fuentes label and has collaborated with artists such as Tremor, Kizaba and Xiomara Furtuna.

"I'm not going to pretend like I know much about the world from which this record comes, all I know is that if I see a record with "cumbia soundsystem" on the label, I will grab it every time. Cha-cha dub style with reverb-soaked samples, organ accents and synth-fueled melodies, I'd venture to guess you don't have any records like this on your shelf. It's ok, I won't tell anybody, just grab this one and your secret is safe with me. I'm only the slightest bit fearful that this leads me down an entirely new rabbit hole, previously unexplored, that eventually leads to my financial downfall. If (when?) that happens, at the very least I'll be sure to keep you here apprised of the standouts." - Ben Blackwell.

          STAFF COMMENTS

Matt says: Slowly edging its way into DJs record bags more and more. Modern Cumbia gets hammered by everyone from Tom Boogizm and Florentino to Nossa and DJ Python. It's an intriguing vibe, certain to turn heads, and there's plenty of bass weight in these two tracks to keep the less adventurous tuned in and jiving. Top stuff.
