If anything their sound has hardened with this release, into a blistering, hardcore maelstrom. There is some melodic and rhythmic subtlety to be had; but this is essentially a howl of pain, characterized by ragged explosions of sound, unstable hardcore rhythms and raging vocals, underpinned by an unforgiving, emotionally agonising incest narrative. This, for the most part, is definitely NOT happy listening, but it's still deeply affecting, and that's as good a reason as any for getting your hands on it...
It's only taken 10 years from it's original recording in 1994 for Floor's debut LP to get released. God knows what happened in the meantime. The sonic equivalent of being slowly, but badly beaten up.
Two great bands go head to head on this Canaduh meets Floriduh split CD. The Gainesville posse make noises that raise a sweat and Gunmoll are no exception - their Hotwater Music stylee is bang on the money. Pitted against them is Fifth Hour Hero giving trash punk a good name and banging on with more of their catchy lady / gentleman vocals underpinned by some rock climbing guitars.
