        Tangerine Dream

Thief - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack

Mondo is proud to present Tangerine Dream's essential synth soundtrack to Michael Mann's 1980 masterpiece Thief. Pulsing with neon energy, Tangerine Dream's score for Michael Mann's debut film was markedly bold and unique for the crime genre at the time, which is what makes it so iconic and influential to this day. Years before Miami Vice, Heat and Manhunter, director Michael Mann took his first crack at the gritty crime genre with a film starring James Caan, about a Chicago diamond thief, and his last big score. Seems straightforward enough – but though it could've easily felt like a holdover from the New Hollywood movement of the '70s, Thief plants its feet firmly into the '80s with Tangerine Dream's incredible, and at the time revolutionary, approach to film music. They kicked off an electronic film score wave – Tangerine Dream alone would go on to score nearly twenty films over the course of the '80s.

            Dolemite Is My Name

Dolemite is his name and rappin’ & tappin’ is his game! Eddie Murphy’s 15-year-old pet project about Rudy Ray Moore is absolutely one of the best feel good films in recent memory. Featuring music by Scott Bomar. The soundtrack is a loving homage to 1970’s funk and Blaxploitation scores that sounds contemporary and fresh rather than just leaning on the past. It’s fun, reverential and funky as all hell. Bomar has an incredible feel for funk and soul and it absolutely shines here. This vinyl edition features the full score plus tracks sung by Eddie Murphy, Craig Robinson & Da’Vine Joy Randolph.

              Christophe Beck

              Ant-Man & The Wasp - OST

Award-winning composer Christophe Beck re-teamed with the Marvel Cinematic Universe to score Ant-Man & The Wasp, the sequel to 2015's Ant-Man, one of the most kinetic and musically inventive chapters in the on-going series.

The closing credits theme, "It Ain't Over 'Til The Wasp Lady Stings," is sequenced at the beginning of the album to properly prepare you for the brilliant work of what Beck is doing in this film and for these characters. Bouncing between themes epic in scope, emotionally powerful ("Ghost in the Machine"), action-packed ("Hot Wheels") and light on its feet ("World's Greatest Grandma"), his work here is musically lush and multi -layered, absolutely begging for repeat listens. This is one of the MCU's most dynamic and entertaining soundtracks.

"Destroyer" tells the story of Detective Erin Bell (Nicole Kidman) whose life is turned upside down when a past life comes back to haunt her in the form of ink-stained money and a corpse with a mysterious neck tattoo of three black dots.

Like their previous collaboration ("The Invitation"), Theodore's score is emotionally devastating. Similar to Erin Bell, the album is rageful, intense, loving and sublime. The album is a journey, sonically tracking from bank shootouts to foot chases and hubristic comeuppances - ultimately arriving at one of Theodore's beautiful pieces of music titled "Ecstasy".

                Thoroughbreds OST

Written and directed by Cory Finley, Thoroughbreds tells the darkly comic story of two teenage girls Amanda and Lily (Olivia Cooke and Anya Taylor-Joy) who rekindle a friendship years after growing apart, bonding over Lily's contempt for her oppressive stepfather. As their friendship grows, they begin to bring out one another's most destructive tendencies. Their ambitions lead them to hire a local hustler, Tim (Anton Yelchin in his final performance), and take matters into their own hands to set their lives straight.

Featuring a driving, pulse-raising score by Erik Friedlander, and songs by King Harvest, A Tribe Called Red, Tanya Tagaq, The Sweet Hurt, Tanis (and more) the soundtrack is as unique and spellbinding as the film itself.

                  Trevor Morris

Marvel's Iron Fist - Original Soundtrack LP

In celebration of the forthcoming Netflix Original Series MARVEL'S THE DEFENDERS, Mondo is excited to unite the previously released soundtracks to MARVEL'S DAREDEVIL - Season One, MARVEL'S JESSICA JONES - Season One and MARVEL'S LUKE CAGE soundtracks with the fourth Defender, MARVEL'S IRON FIST.

Composed by Trevor Morris (CASTLEVANIA), the score continues the tradition of giving each of THE DEFENDER'S their own sound and feel. MARVEL'S IRON FIST feels right at home beside the scores to THE RAID 1 & 2, delivering moody, ominous synth cues with frantic, pulsating percussion that attack and release in powerful bursts.

As with the previous releases, this also features all new original artwork by Matthew Woodson. Pressed on 180 Gram Black Vinyl.

                    Carter Burwell

Hail, Caesar! Original Motion Picture Soundtrack

Mondo is beyond honored to present their very first Coen Brother's soundtrack, as well as our first Carter Burwell score, the magnificent soundtrack for the Coen's latest farce Hail, Caesar! which marks Burwell's 16th collaboration with the brothers. Prior collaborations include Blood Simple, Raising Arizona, Miller's Crossing, Barton Fink, The Hudsucker Proxy, Fargo, Intolerable Cruelty, The Ladykillers, No Country for Old Men, Burn After Reading, A Serious Man and True Grit.

A good part of the magic of this movie comes from the music of Carter Burwell, who dove deep into the period of the film, and the multiple film genres that it explores in each of its many tangents (including a musical number performed by Channing Tatum.) Also, drawing heavy on the red-scare, bringing selections performed by the Red Army Choir to add bombast to the scenes with would be antagonists of this story.

Discussing his work on Hail, Caesar!, Burwell says: “The challenge and the fun of composing the score to Hail, Caesar! is that the it contains scenes from many films-in-the-making, and each of those was scored in a manner authentic to the period— basically MGM in the 1950s. There is an Esther Williams water ballet, a Hopalong Cassidy Western, a Roman Christ epic, and all of these are subsumed by a kidnapping mystery, which is itself subsumed by a studio executive’s crisis of faith. Melodies are shared between these bits of bright cloth to tie them together into a whole, and some of the recording was even done on the same stage where the MGM classics were recorded.”

                      Nathan Van Cleave

Robinson Crusoe On Mars - OST

Mondo is pleased to present the soundtrack to the science fiction cult classic Robinson Crusoe on Mars (1964), for the first time ever on vinyl. Over 50 years before Matt Damon was labelled 'The Martian,' there was the story of lone astronaut Christopher "Kit" Draper and his struggle to survive on the red planet after being marooned by his ship's near miss with a meteor. For a significant portion of the film - as Kit explores the terrain with no other life to communicate with (except for his monkey, Mona) - Nathan Van Cleave's music takes centre stage. Van Cleave's themes are simultaneously foreboding and triumphant. Only a few short years before Planet of the Apes took science fiction to its inevitable dystopian ends, the soundtrack to Robinson Crusoe on Mars is a pure patriotic time capsule; the sounds of a retro-future when science fiction films were still produced with true optimistic sincerity.

Featuring original artwork by We Buy Your Kids, and pressed on 180 Gram Black Vinyl.

                          Dario Marianelli

The Box Trolls Original Motion Picture Soundtrack

Continuing in the tradition of CORALINE & PARANORMAN, Mondo is honoured to present the soundtrack to Laika's third animated gem: THE BOXTROLLS. Composed by Dario Marianelli, and featuring songs by Loch Lomond, the soundtrack perfectly captures the whimsical & frantic energy of the fictional world of Cheesebridge, where a human boy raised by trash-collecting trolls must stop a sinister exterminator from his selfish campaign to rid the town of the titular scavengers.

Available for the first time on vinyl and featuring amazing new artwork by artist Rich Kelly, THE BOXTROLLS is an exciting addition to the Mondo / Laika collection. The record is pressed on 180 Gram Black Vinyl (Black is Limited to 500 Copies).
